- Chapter 74 - The Strongers Symbiote Riot
“Deadly Guardian, that name sounds, in the words of your planet, incredibly cool!”
Half an hour later, the successfully brainwashed Venom had switched entirely his allegiance to Earth.
He felt that this human-made a lot of sense. Transmitting information about Earth back to his planet would mean that his kin would overrun it, devouring it like countless other planets they had consumed.
And what would he gain? Nothing. He would still be a loser, looked down upon by everyone in his race.
But if he didn’t send the information back, he could stay on this planet, becoming an idol worshiped by the lifeforms here, enjoying all the pleasures this beautiful planet had to offer.
“Okay, I won’t send the information back.”
“Then can you leave my body and inhabit someone else’s?”
At this, Eddie looked hopeful. As an average human, who would want an alien that enjoys eating heads residing inside them? He hadn’t been scared to death, thanks only to his journalist’s thick skin.
“No, Eddie, you are the most suitable host for me. Other hosts would only last for a while. Together, we can accomplish great things and be revered by everyone!”
Venom didn’t even think before refusing.
Finding a perfectly compatible body to inhabit wasn’t easy.
During his six months at the Life Foundation’s lab, he had tried inhabiting many homeless people, none of whom lasted more than two hours, while Eddie remained utterly unaffected.
This indicated a perfect compatibility between him and Eddie.
Plus, he had accessed Eddie’s memories and liked this Earthling.
“Oh my gosh, Annie is going to kill me!”
Hearing Venom’s refusal, Eddie couldn’t help but hold his forehead.
If his girlfriend Annie knew about this alien inside him, she probably wouldn’t even let him in bed. After all, it would be awkward with a third party always watching.
“Look on the bright side, Eddie. You and Venom are now the fourth superhero of our Avengers Corporation. You can join us on missions.
Countless exclusive scoops and big news stories are waiting for you. This might not be such a bad thing after all.”
Hawking stood up and patted Eddie on the shoulder.
Eddie thought about it, his eyes lighting up again. As a journalist, nothing was more enticing than exclusive scoops and big news.
And with Venom doing the fighting, he could hide inside and focus on observing and gathering news material.
“I will do my best!”
“That’s the spirit, Eddie. Together with me, we are the Deadly Guardians. Let’s make a big impact!”
Venom was instantly energized.
“Ding!”
The elevator doors opened, and Peter and Jessica walked out.
Hawking asked, “Is everything handled over there?”
“All taken care of. We’ve handed everything over to the police.”
Peter and Jessica nodded. Under Hawking’s guidance, they were well-versed in these matters.
They were officially recognized by the government, not unlicensed superheroes and many issues could be resolved simply by a brief conversation with the arriving police.
“Alright, let me introduce our future new partners, Venom and Eddie, the Deadly Guardians!” Hawking then briefly explained Venom’s identity to Peter and Jessica.
The two college students immediately became curious after learning that Venom was an alien. They physically examined Venom’s head and bombarded him with questions.
Venom, quite talkative, didn’t mind their curiosity and even enjoyed the conversation until Hawking had to interrupt:
“Alright, you can chat more later when there’s time. We have other things to do today.
Venom said only some were brought back to the lab when the Life Foundation’s exploration spaceship crashed. One of the leaders, Riot, had escaped early by infecting a host.
Riot is incredibly vicious and powerful, and he will head to the Life Foundation to find Venom and other symbiotes, then use the Foundation’s rocket to send Earth’s coordinates back to his kind.
So now, we must head to the Life Foundation headquarters immediately!”
“Yes, Captain!”
Peter and Jessica responded immediately, and Eddie nodded in agreement.
Then, the four of them took the elevator to the sixth floor and hurried toward the headquarters of the Life Foundation.
Hawking and Jessica flew while Peter and Venom ran.
The headquarters of the Life Foundation was located on a coastal site just outside New York, featuring a sizeable experimental base and a separate rocket launch facility for space exploration.
Dr. Drake’s face twisted in anger at that moment in the chairman’s office after hearing his subordinate’s report.
“Useless, all useless! And those meddling superheroes, I’ll get rid of you all someday!”
After investing countless resources and over half a year of research, nearly all symbiotes had died. The one successful integration case could have been groundbreaking if retrieved for study.
Yet, those annoying superheroes had foiled his plans, and he was furious.
“Go, all of you go now, take the most powerful weapons, and bring the test subjects back!”
After thinking it over, he was still unsatisfied, so he deployed all his armed forces to confront the superheroes and forcibly retrieve the reporter and test subjects.
But just as he finished speaking sudden gunshots and screams erupted outside.
“Bang!”
The office door was kicked open, and a girl around six or seven years old stood before him and his guards.
Moments later, all the command room guards were headless. The little girl, rapidly integrating a Venom-like substance, grabbed Dr. Drake by the neck.
“This planet belongs to us now!”
This little girl was Riot, who had escaped when the exploration spaceship crashed in Malaysia six months ago. Over the half year, she had traveled from Malaysia to New York, killing and infecting hosts, and had found the Life Foundation headquarters.
She intended to infect Dr. Drake and use his company’s rocket to return to space and send the planet’s coordinates back.
However, just as she completed the infection and before she could turn around, the office window shattered, and four figures landed in front of her.
“Venom!”
Seeing Venom among the four, Riot immediately commanded:
“Go to the rocket, and I’ll control its launch soon. Immediately transmit the coordinates after you leave this planet aboard the rocket.”
“Be careful, he’s Riot, the most powerful of us, carrying all the most dangerous weapons. We must deal with him first to prevent my millions of kin from coming here.”
Hearing Riot’s command, Venom stepped back in fear, then turned to Hawking to explain.
