Marvel: Randomly Load a Protagonist Template - Chapter 85
“Alright, but I hope you can make a decision soon. According to our intel, S.H.I.E.L.D. is likely to launch an attack on us right after Christmas, and it’ll be too late to decide then,” Magneto expressed to Hawking, who did not press too hard in response.
He knew Hawking was not easily swayed and had strong opinions; pushing too hard could raise suspicions.
“There’s still a week until Christmas. I will give you an answer in three days,” Hawking replied after some thought.
He couldn’t just take Magneto’s word for it. I allowed him to travel to S.H.I.E.L.D. for three days to discover the truth.
If what Magneto claimed was true, he might not destroy S.H.I.E.L.D., but he would teach them a lesson to keep them in line for a while.
If not, it was likely that Magneto was trying to stir up trouble, and he would need to be kept in check.
Whether it was S.H.I.E.L.D. or Magneto, he couldn’t just obliterate them easily; maintaining the current situation was best, allowing him time to continue developing his strategies.
“Good, I’ll come back to you in three days!” Magneto nodded, then left the cafe with Mystique. It would have been best if Hawking had agreed to cooperate, but if not, Magneto would have had other plans in mind.
“People never want to live in peace, always stirring up trouble,” Hawking shook his head as he watched Magneto leave, then returned home.
The fact that S.H.I.E.L.D. had developed weapons and serums targeting mutants meant that HYDRA must also possess these.
And if HYDRA had them, many other powers would likely have access as well.
The future for mutants would become even more challenging, with more being captured and studied by ambitious forces due to these targeted weapons.
Back at home, Oleg and Alina did not ask Hawking about his encounter with Magneto, continuing as usual with their cheerful banter.
However, the wise Hawking still noticed something odd.
At night, after everyone had watched TV in the living room and returned to their rooms, Hawking sat cross-legged on his bed, floating, and heightened his senses to their maximum to eavesdrop on the other rooms.
The day’s events suggested something between Alina and Magneto, but since Alina wasn’t willing to discuss it, Hawking, as her son, didn’t feel it was his place to ask.
Yet, for him, it was a matter of great importance that he needed to clarify, as it would influence his future stance towards Magneto.
Without connection, he wouldn’t hesitate to eliminate Magneto if a conflict arose.
But he would have to be more cautious if there were a connection.
He heard The first voice from Pietro’s room, closest to his own.
“Oh boy, brother, even though it’s just puberty, you should still try to keep it under control.”
With a wry smile, he then focused on the next room, which was Wanda’s.
“The next pose is the cat pose. Knees open as wide as the hips, breathe in, slowly raise the buttocks high, and curve the lower back to form an arch.”
“Looks like she’s practicing yoga. Wanda has reached the age where she cares about beauty.”
Passing through Wanda’s room, he finally heard Alina and Oleg’s voices.
“Alina, don’t overthink it. It was just an accident. I just asked Pietro, and it turns out he’s also a mutant, so that’s why he knows Hawking. He’s not here to take our kids away.”
“Oleg, I just feel sorry for you.”
“Sorry for what? You told me everything back then; you didn’t hide anything, and I’ve never regretted it,” Oleg reassured Alina.
“That year, I was attacked by robbers in an alley, and he suddenly appeared and saved me. After that night, he vanished as if he had evaporated, and I found myself pregnant.
My parents urged me to terminate the pregnancy, but I couldn’t bear it. Then I met you, and you didn’t mind my condition and even proposed to me.
Only then did I understand that love isn’t about love at first sight; it should be about living together daily, understanding each other, and giving,” Alina explained.
“I never told you, but I had a crush on you long before that. Back then, you were so radiant, surrounded by numerous outstanding young men, and I was just plain and insignificant.
It wasn’t until that incident that I could step into your life. So, there’s nothing to apologize for; it was my choice,” Oleg responded.
“Oleg, let’s have another child!” Alina suddenly proposed.
“What?” Oleg was taken aback.
“You always refused to have another child back in Sokovia because of the war and having to care for Wanda and Pietro. Now that we’re settled let’s have another truly our child!”
Hearing this, Hawking quickly withdrew his eavesdropping as the conversation ventured into territory that was not suitable for children.
“Turns out Magneto is the real father of Wanda and Pietro!”
Hawking had suspected as much from Alina’s reaction earlier in the day, but he hadn’t expected it to result from a fleeting encounter with Magneto.
No wonder Magneto didn’t recognize Alina; he must have encountered many women like her.
But considering their ages, it made sense. A twenty-something girl falling for a mature, stable, and charismatic man in his forties, especially one who played the hero, wasn’t unusual.
Despite how Magneto and Professor Xavier might look now—one old with wrinkles, the other bald and wheelchair-bound—they were both handsome in their youth, as seen in the photos in the professor’s office.
Oleg was somewhat unfortunate, but that’s life; Alina might not have given him a chance without her pregnancy.
Hawking had thought Wanda’s mysterious parentage might tie back to the gypsy woman Natalia, not that she’d become Magneto’s daughter in this universe.
Whether Wanda is a mutant doesn’t matter now. Pietro is, but as for this revelation, he decided to keep it to himself for now.
As for Magneto, as long as he doesn’t go too far in the future, Hawking thought he might go easy on him in any conflict, considering he’s the father of Wanda and Pietro—half-dead might suffice.
The following day, after breakfast with the family, Hawking discreetly performed a jutsu:
“Shadow Clone Jutsu!”
A clone possessing half of his power appeared beside him.
“Go check out S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters.”
The clone used the Flying Technique, soaring out the window toward Washington, D.C.
A shadow clone could manage this intelligence gathering, leaving Hawking free to spend the day buying Christmas supplies with his family, decorating their home and yard, and preparing the holiday meal.
