Marvel: Randomly Load a Protagonist Template - Chapter 91
“Truly worthy of being a Level 10 S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, he knows his stuff.”
Hawking watched as Nick Fury, trapped in a desperate situation and surrounded by hundreds of Hydra’s most elite agents, still managed to fend for himself using various means and even killed a dozen Hydra agents. He couldn’t help but express his admiration.
He believed that Nick Fury still had other cards to play. Even if he let Peter and the others intervene now, Fury could find a way to call Captain Marvel for help.
It would take little time with Captain Marvel’s speed, even from outer space.
However, Hydra would notice once Captain Marvel got involved, which might interfere with some of Nick Fury’s plans. That’s why they asked him to help.
“All forces, attack!”
Seeing that Nick Fury was nearly overwhelmed, Hawking finally commanded to intervene.
Peter and two others, already positioned around the battlefield, received the signal and made flashy entrances.
“The hunting time has come.”
Venom was the first to act, jumping directly onto a police car blocking Fury’s vehicle. He grabbed two Hydra agents who were firing wildly and devoured their heads.
“Ah, this is the real taste!”
“What is that thing?”
Realizing what was happening, the Hydra agents immediately shifted some firepower toward Venom.
In hiding in his car and clutching his ribs, Nick Fury finally breathed a sigh of relief and put away the communicator made by Kree technology.
“Face your judgment!”
Following Venom, Spider-Man Peter swung onto the roof of Nick Fury’s car. He raised his hand and shot webs, instantly binding the Hydra agents and their weapons into a tight bundle.
“Is the super weapon ready?”
The person overseeing the assassination mission saw Venom and Spider-Man intervene and frowned, asking a nearby agent.
According to his intelligence, these superheroes were not supposed to be active nearby because of the holiday season and should not have appeared here so suddenly.
“It’s ready.”
“Then activate it immediately. Let Nick Fury and those two troublemakers disappear!”
A cold smile appeared on the face of the person in charge.
The superweapon was a high-power weapon developed by Dr. Zola based on Hydra’s energy weapons from World War II. Without the energy of the Space Stone, it used electrical power instead. It required some time for installation and energy conversion, but once fired, it could destroy everything within a few dozen meters.
Even Nick Fury’s modified car, which could withstand rocket attacks, would be turned to ashes under the attack of the superweapon.
Behind the intersection, a large machine resembling a cannon, about three meters tall, was assembled by several Hydra agents. After some manipulation, it began to emit blue energy waves.
However, before the energy could fully convert, a metal weapon, with terrifying speed, suddenly descended from the sky, piercing the cannon in one strike, followed by four more that completely turned off the cannon.
“It’s time to show our real skills!”
Everyone saw a girl with a shield in her left hand and a weapon in her right floating above them.
The third superhero of the Avengers, the Flying Valkyrie, made her appearance.
Normally, they faced minor characters, so their battles were casual, rarely coordinated, or involved weapon use. But this time, there was a real risk of injury facing Hydra’s elite agents, prompting them to employ their pre-rehearsed team battle tactics for the first time.
Venom, ignoring most damage and possessing the greatest strength, acted as the front-line tank, while Peter, with his web-slinging and spider-sense, supported by taking out enemies.
Jessica, who could fly and had great strength but lacked spider sense and had only human-level defense, was vulnerable to bullets. Hence, Hawking advised her not to engage in close combat but to fly with a highly durable shield and attack with a retractable metal weapon produced by the Green Goblin from afar.
Only a few characters can fly in the Marvel world, and being in the air puts most enemies at a disadvantage.
With her shield defense, ordinary firearms couldn’t harm her.
With Jessica’s strength, the weapons she fired from above had enormous power, likely enough to penetrate a tank.
The trio’s coordinated efforts at least doubled their combat effectiveness.
Why didn’t Hawking join in?
The gap in strength was too great; he simply didn’t match up, like comparing diamonds to bronze.
“Try to capture them alive; Director Fury probably needs to extract some information from these agents.”
As the Hydra agents were almost powerless under the less-than-perfect coordination of Peter’s trio, Hawking slowly landed next to Nick Fury’s car.
“Director Fury, I arrived late; are you alright?”
“You kid, you did that on purpose.”
Nick Fury, clutching his broken ribs, rolled his eyes in annoyance.
Hawking responded with an innocent look:
“Director Fury, you joke a lot. How could I, Hawking, be that kind of person?”
Nick Fury smirked, then turned his head to watch Peter’s trio fighting, speaking with a complex tone:
“Your team seems to be on par with the X-Men now.”
He had sought Hawking’s help for his strength but had yet to expect that Hawking’s team of three would complete the mission without Hawking having to lift a finger.
Of course, he knew about Hawking’s team, but he had never paid them much attention.
Half a year ago, a nerdy high school student was bitten by a spider, a normal girl accidentally infected with a military chemical agent, and a reporter who seemed to have recently acquired alien genes and was previously unable to fight effectively.
These were just ordinary people who accidentally acquired some abilities, just like those mutant students who awakened their powers under Hawking’s supervision. They were just about managing to combat criminals.
However, he had yet to expect that, with their cooperation, they would be able to display such formidable combat strength. This made him somewhat regret the conditions he had agreed to with Hawking previously.
If the Avengers continued to develop this way, they would become a force that could not be ignored.
“It’s passable, but definitely can’t compare with the X-Men.”
Hawking smiled and didn’t explain much further.
Now that they were realizing this, it was too late. The company had already established itself and gained public recognition, and he believed that Nick Fury would no longer have the energy to deal with him.
