Marvel: Randomly Load a Protagonist Template - Chapter 98
“Professor Ororo, what exactly happened?”
On the way to the mutant school, Hawking asked Storm.
Storm didn’t hide anything and explained everything in detail.
All the professors and mutant students staying at the school were celebrating Christmas together in the hall when suddenly a space portal opened. Magneto appeared with a few others, announcing that they were taking Professor X to fulfill their original dream.
One of them, a blue-skinned mutant who claimed to be the god of mutants, instantly incapacitated Professor X, causing him to collapse. Before anyone could react, Magneto used his powers to block everyone and took the Professor through the portal.
Magneto’s power was far stronger than before; none of them could break through.
Just like that, Professor X was taken away through the portal.
“It’s Blink… No, it must be… Apocalypse!”
After hearing Storm’s account, Hawking’s expression changed.
Hearing about the space portal, he initially thought Magneto had found Blink, a mutant capable of opening teleportation portals.
But then, hearing about a blue-skinned mutant claiming to be a god, who could incapacitate Professor X instantly, and Magneto’s enhanced powers, he realized he was wrong.
Professor X’s psychic abilities are potent, and few can resist them, let alone incapacitate him instantly.
Other than a fully unleashed Phoenix, only Apocalypse, the first mutant, could do this.
“This is serious.”
Realizing it was an Apocalypse, Hawking became unsettled.
Based on his knowledge from movies, Apocalypse was the first mutant, emerging five thousand years ago. He could acquire their powers by transferring his consciousness to other mutants, eventually ruling over humanity.
Later, during a transfer to a mutant with healing and longevity abilities, he was betrayed by enslaved humans and fell into a deep sleep.
He remembered the sleeping location was in an Egyptian city, but the exact city escaped him.
Even if he remembered, he never intended to find it.
Once exposed to sunlight, Apocalypse could absorb energy and awaken. Why seek that trouble?
Unexpectedly, Magneto had now found and awakened him.
With thousands of mutant powers accumulated over millennia, Apocalypse was immensely powerful, with no apparent weaknesses.
In the movie, it took Jean Grey unleashing the Phoenix Force to kill him finally.
With his current combat strength, Hawking had no confidence in defeating Apocalypse.
The fully unleashed Phoenix Force was multiverse-level, while his power, even with Goku’s template, was planetary at best, nowhere near skyfather-level.
But tonight was not only Christmas but also a full moon night. If he could stall until nightfall, he could transform into a giant ape, boosting his combat power tenfold, perhaps enough to fight Apocalypse.
Still, something felt off.
This wasn’t like the movie. In the film, middle-aged Magneto was driven to despair by the death of his wife and daughter, leading him to join Apocalypse as one of the Four Horsemen.
But now, Magneto was a seasoned veteran, not someone who would easily let a five-thousand-year-old mutant lead everything.
Knowing Magneto, he was very cautious at this age. If Apocalypse planned to transfer his consciousness to Professor X to gain his powers and control the world, he would eliminate the X-Men and him before acting.
Why openly take Professor X?
Didn’t he fear they would disrupt the transfer?
Lastly, he didn’t believe Magneto was unaware that he could transform into a giant ape on full moon nights.
Although only a few, like Professor X, Wolverine, and Storm, knew this, Magneto had often sent Mystique to spy on the mutant school. Mystique could gather information by transforming it into anyone.
If he truly didn’t know, wasn’t it too coincidental to act on a full moon night?
Could it be just because today was Christmas?
“Never mind, let’s save Professor X first.”
He couldn’t let Apocalypse gain Professor X’s powers. With his strong psychic abilities, acquiring Professor X’s powers would make him nearly invincible.
Still, this venture held both danger and opportunity. Defeating Apocalypse would undoubtedly yield substantial justice points, possibly unlocking a new character template.
Although Apocalypse didn’t intend to exterminate humanity, his plan involved Magneto causing magnetic field disruptions and continental shifts, reverting civilization to a primitive state.
Mutant school meeting room.
“How is it, Professor Hank? Have you located the Professor?”
As soon as Hawking entered, he asked Beast.
Beast shook his head gravely:
“No, Magneto knows us well. The tracking device on the Professor’s wheelchair was destroyed.”
“Why did Magneto kidnap the Professor? Does he plan to use his powers to wipe out humanity again? And who is that blue-skinned guy who could control the Professor instantly?”
Wolverine angrily slapped the table.
Given past experiences, it was hard not to think that way.
“This time, it’s not just Magneto. Hearing what Professor Ororo described, I remembered an old legend.
Do you know about Apocalypse?”
Hawking asked seriously.
At this point, he had to share information about Apocalypse.
“Apocalypse?”
Everyone looked confused, clearly never having heard of the name.
Hawking quickly relayed everything he knew about the Apocalypse.
“So, this Apocalypse is more dangerous than Magneto. He can enhance mutant abilities. I suspect Magneto and his Brotherhood members have been enhanced. This will be a tough battle!”
“A mutant so terrifying exists. Then they might be hiding in an Egyptian city.”
Hank quickly guessed.
Since Apocalypse’s base was in Egypt, any plans would likely unfold there.
“Correct. We’ll need some help. Let me make a call.”
Hawking quickly took out his phone and called Nick Fury.
“Director Fury, bad news, humanity is doomed!”
