Marvel Rise of Lord God - Chapter 37
Besides the duo of Might Duy and Might Guy, another father-son pair is present on the field—Sakumo Hatake and Kakashi Hatake.
Their relationship is far more complex than that of Guy’s. Sakumo died by suicide, pressured by public opinion, leaving Kakashi as a fatherless child.
This left Kakashi to bear the brunt of the village’s opinion alone, shaping his character into one of coldness and introversion. Only the warmth of future friends he encountered brought about a change in his personality.
Upon seeing Sakumo, Kakashi lowered his mask, revealing his Sharingan, his heart filled with anger at Sakumo’s irresponsible actions.
Unfortunately, he is no Hulk—anger is just anger, and his strength remains at a mere fifty-fifty.
Additionally, the power of his Three-Tomoe Sharingan couldn’t accurately track Sakumo’s movements.
In no time, Kakashi was covered in injuries, and more troubling, most of his chakra was depleted.
Not being a member of the Uchiha clan, using the Sharingan consumed far too much chakra.
“Kakashi, you disappoint me,” said Sakumo after cutting through a tree summoned by Kakashi’s substitution technique, regaining some control over his body and stopping in his tracks.
Panting heavily, Kakashi retorted, “I don’t need you to teach me!”
As he spoke, the air filled with the sound of chirping birds, and lightning gathered on Kakashi’s arms, the glow as if numerous birds were chirping around him.
Chidori!
Kakashi lowered his body, his Sharingan locked on Sakumo, who had stopped moving and charged at him.
The stimulation from the lightning chakra greatly increased Kakashi’s speed, turning him into an arrow shot from a bow.
Approaching Sakumo, Kakashi raised his hand and thrust it forward.
With a simple Body Flicker Technique, Sakumo moved out of the attack’s path, accurately positioning himself right above Kakashi.
Then, Sakumo, gathering strength, kicked Kakashi, sending him flying.
“Your movements are stiff, your attacks are predictable, and you are reckless,” Sakumo said as he landed smoothly, “I don’t remember teaching you to fight like this.”
Struggling to his feet, Kakashi wiped the blood from his mouth.
Taunted by his father, Kakashi’s mind cooled down, realizing that years of neglecting physical and sword training made it impossible to keep up with his father’s speed.
To defeat him, he needed a different approach—ninjutsu!
Kakashi’s reputation as a Copy Ninja was not for nothing; besides the sheer number of jutsus he knew, his speed in forming hand signs was among the best of the elite ninjas.
Fire Style: Great Fireball Technique, Wind Style: Great Breakthrough!
Kakashi released two ninjutsu simultaneously, the fireball growing larger with the help of the wind, completely engulfing the area around Sakumo.
“You still haven’t figured it out,” Sakumo appeared behind Kakashi, sending him flying once again.
“After all these years, you haven’t even found your path,” Sakumo surpassed the flying Kakashi, kicking him to another location.
“Do you think having the Sharingan makes you a Uchiha?”
Sakumo Hatake appeared across the battlefield, moving so swiftly it seemed as if he had used a cloning technique.
“Copy Ninja? What a ridiculous title.”
After the final word, Kakashi, treated like a soccer ball, finally hit the ground, almost fainting from countless attacks, but the fighting spirit stirred up by Sakumo still supported him.
Watching Kakashi struggle to stand, his Sharingan nearly failing to maintain itself, Sakumo shook his head,
“If you’re lucky enough to survive, you should quit being a ninja and stop disgracing the Hatake family!” “The disgrace is you!”
Kakashi, leaning on a wall, looked at Sakumo, “You did things against the ninja code. You couldn’t even stand by your own choices and beliefs! What right do you have to judge me?”
Sakumo, expressionless, responded, “Oh, interesting. And what are your beliefs?”
Coughing, Kakashi spat out blood.
“I don’t have beliefs, but I can fight for the belief in protecting others!”
After recovering, Kakashi assumed a fighting stance, the Three-Tomoe spinning rapidly in his eyes, “Come on! You’ve already killed yourself once. Let’s see you fall again!”
Firm in his belief, Kakashi felt his “sight” getting clearer and his Three-Tomoe Sharingan nearly linked into a complete circle.
Yet, not being of Uchiha blood, he was limited in forming a full Mangekyo Sharingan; in the last moments, a mysterious power descended upon Kakashi, pushing him to break his final limit.
Mangekyo Sharingan, achieved!
Sakumo saw Kakashi’s progress, and although his soul was immensely satisfied, he showed no outward sign.
Having broken through the Three-Tomoe limit, Kakashi’s thought process transformed perfectly and harmoniously, linking body techniques, ninjutsu, and Sharingan.
Earth Release: Earth Flow River, capturing Sakumo’s figure, Kakashi slowed his movements with a mud bog.
But this limitation was like nothing to Sakumo, who raised his sword and slashed at Kakashi.
Earth Release: Earth Flow Wall.
A wall of earth blocked between them, and behind the cut wall, Kakashi exploded in a burst of lightning.
This was the Lightning Clone! As the clone exploded, Kakashi appeared behind Sakumo.
Using his core, Sakumo spun 180 degrees in midair, a streak of white light charging at Kakashi.
Kamui!
Kakashi’s Sharingan spun wildly, entering a phase state, Sakumo’s attack passing through him.
Kakashi spun around with a kick, and beneath his foot, Sakumo turned into a log.
A series of attacks ended up hitting a substitution, but Kakashi was satisfied, having progressed much from the start. At least now, they were evenly matched on the surface.
“Kakashi, you’ve finally understood,” Sakumo’s voice carried relief.
“What are you trying to say?” Kakashi stared intently at his father, ready to counter.
“Just wanted to say I’m sorry.” Sakumo’s eyes filled with tenderness, “I’m sorry for letting you bear so much alone. I’ve been too irresponsible as a father.”
Kakashi paused, stunned by the apology, something unbelievable in his memory—he had never received praise from his father, who was always right. Unexpectedly, after all these years, he received an apology.
Kakashi chuckled lightly, letting go of much, “I forgive you, but I must also apologize because I’ll have to send you down again!”
