Marvel Rise of Lord God - Chapter 43
Upon returning to his private space, Tony eagerly opened all the white treasure chests. As expected from their color, these were indeed “white-given” chests, yielding 2600 Main God points from 26 chests.
Besides the points, there was nothing else—not sure if it was just Tony’s bad luck or if the prize pool was just that limited.
After checking his loot, Tony opened his panel to recheck his luck points.
Yep, still at 5 points, no deductions.
After confirming that he hadn’t been mysteriously sent to “Africa,” Tony proceeded to open the two blue chests.
The haul was somewhat better than the white ones, yielding a pack of soldier pills and an essential Shadow Clone Jutsu scroll—items to be kept at the bottom of the box for now.
The only purple chest, which dropped from slaying the three giant snakes, looked distinctly more majestic and intimidating than the others.
Taking the chest from the rewards section, he placed it on the ground. Tony took a deep breath, lifted the lid with his left hand, and reached the chest with his right.
The moment his hand touched the inside, the chest vanished with a bang, leaving only a scroll-like object in Tony’s hand and incoming information in his mind.
**Ninja Squad Scroll**
**Quality: Blue**
**Type: Consumable**
**Item Effect: The user can form a dissolvable squad with two other Eligibles. Squad members can enter mission worlds together. Attacks between squad members will deduct a primary attribute point and immediately dissolve the squad contract.**
**Rating: 31**
“Ha, witness my righteous backstab.” — An unnamed individual.
“Ninja squad…” Tony mulled over the item in his hand.
This item’s binding ability was quite limited; although losing a primary attribute point is costly, many things are valued higher than it, making it a somewhat negligible deterrent.
However, this item also hinted at future dynamics for Eligibles. Going solo would become increasingly complex, and most people might belong to some form of organization.
With this in mind, Tony sent messages to Ajie and Alice, with whom he had exchanged Main God Space contacts after building good relationships in the mission world.
Tony’s future missions would be smoother if he could form a squad with these two.
Both replied quickly.
Ajie naturally declined; as a dependent of Qi Yun, his participation in the mission was temporary. His future role was to act as a firefighter for the Main God Space, going wherever needed, which wouldn’t allow him to join Tony for regular missions.
Alice declined because she needed to take care of the new members joining the Main God Space from the world of Resident Evil.
The current personnel configuration in the Main God Space was highly unbalanced, with about eighty to ninety percent of the Eligibles coming from the Marvel Universe.
Although this was not explicitly stated, anyone who had spent time in the Main God Space could see it.
After being rejected by the two, Tony wasn’t overly heartbroken. Teammates were a matter of fate; he could do nothing about it if it weren’t meant to be.
As Tony planned his next steps, the Marvel Universe underwent turbulent changes.
Since the last time, Stan transformed into Hydra, S.H.I.E.L.D., the military and even some larger organizations had vaguely become aware of the existence of the Main God Space.
Tony, being a well-known figure, was under scrutiny. When he went days without any news, various forces began to pressure Pepper Potts, hoping to obtain critical technology related to the Iron Man armor from her.
However, Pepper needed help handling this. As the CEO of Stark Industries, she was meticulous and methodical in her approach. Her stance was clear: if they wanted the armor, they should wait for Tony to return and ask him.
In a high-rise building in New York City, the biggest mob boss in America, Kingpin, stood by the window, looking over the bustling city. “How are things at Stark Industries?” he suddenly asked.
“The situation isn’t great, but it’s manageable. Everything will be resolved once Tony Stark appears. However, it’s strange that Tony Stark hasn’t been seen for a long time,” his subordinate reported.
Kingpin listened while fidgeting with a ring, deep in thought.
After a while, he gestured for his subordinate to leave. Once alone, Kingpin sat down at a huge dining table and picked up the intelligence report on Tony.
Considering Tony’s behavior for a long time, Kingpin suspected that Tony had joined the Main God Space, possibly even before him.
“It’s troublesome, dealing with someone who’s just and meddlesome,” Kingpin muttered, setting down the documents.
After joining the Main God Space, Kingpin realized how small a stage New York, and even Earth, had been.
Now, Tony had become an obstacle in his path. Analyzing his behavior, it was undeniable that, one day, Tony and Kingpin would-be adversaries.
Kingpin contemplated whether to go legit or end it all by killing Tony.
Kingpin subconsciously touched his body as he thought, his eyes flashing cruelly. Although he had returned from the Main God Space, he remembered being devoured by countless zombies.
If it weren’t for his substantial body mass, Kingpin might not have survived the return, but such a return earned him very few Main God points, all used to repair his body.
While thinking, Kingpin didn’t stop eating; burger after burger, steak after steak, passed down his throat, transforming into pure energy within his body.
Gluttony’s talent allowed him to gain unique energy and quickly heal injuries through heavy eating.
This talent could be powerful later, but it was useless in his first mission in Resident Evil. The zombies there didn’t give him time to eat, and all humans were their food.
After devouring most of the food on the table, Kingpin stopped. He was packed, and the recently activated Gluttony couldn’t consume much more, significantly, as the food’s energy conversion decreased due to his diet’s monotony.
Kingpin discarded the plan to kill Tony outright from his mind. Regardless of whether Tony was easy to deal with, the potential consequences were too significant for Kingpin to bear.
Killing Tony would provoke a furious retaliation from Stark Industries, and the hypocritical elements would only stir things further, including Kingpin’s current allies. It would be difficult for Kingpin to ensure his safety in such a scenario.
