Marvel Rise of Lord God - Chapter 46
That evening, just after the press conference, Tony and Pepper dined together.
“Sir, Kingpin has sent a formal letter, hoping to have lunch with you,” Jarvis reported through Tony’s earpiece.
“Lunch together?” Tony chuckled. He wasn’t interested in dining with a big fat man; it was too greasy and could upset the stomach.
“Reply to him, forget lunch. If he’s sincere, tell him to meet me at Stark Tower the day after tomorrow at noon.”
“Very well, sir. Also, Nick Fury has been waiting outside your villa for some time,” Jarvis continued.
“Nick Fury?” Tony pondered momentarily, recalling the information Jarvis, his enhanced AI, had captured about Nick Fury.
“That S.H.I.E.L.D. boss? Is he honestly just standing at the door? He didn’t try to get in?”
“He did attempt, but after seeing some of the active security systems, he stopped and chose to wait outside,” Jarvis described vividly.
Tony could imagine it—Nick trying to climb the wall, only to find himself facing several gunpoints as he reached the top, then quietly climbing back down and standing at the door in the cold.
Watching Tony handle his affairs, Pepper was quite pleased; in the past, with Tony’s impulsive nature, he would never have dealt with these matters, let alone during his downtime.
“Dear, if you have things to handle, go ahead,” Pepper said after wiping her mouth with a napkin.
“It’s fine. Everything’s almost taken care of,” Tony waved his hand.
“Don’t worry about me; I’ve finished eating anyway,” Pepper smiled.
“Just listen to me. I’ll take you home; first, there’s no rush. Let him wait a bit longer,” Tony said dominantly as he stood up, now having the aura of a tyrannical CEO from a novel.
After dropping Pepper off at her home, Tony walked towards his villa an hour later.
Nick Fury stood in the doorway under the light, waiting for Tony’s arrival. It wasn’t that he chose not to hide in the dark, but the lights followed him wherever he went, controlled by Jarvis, making it quite annoying.
“Why not come in and sit? Don’t your agents often do spectacular stunts?” Tony teased as he emerged from the darkness.
“The master isn’t home. How could I just walk in?” Nick Fury said expressionlessly.
“Is that so? Then I’ll go in first,” Tony said, walking towards the villa without inviting Nick Fury.
“Wait, I’ve come to deliver something to you,” Nick said reluctantly, aware that one must lower one’s head under another’s roof.
“Something? What is it?” Tony asked back.
“Something your father left for you,” Nick quickly got to the point.
“Heh, he left something for me?” Tony scoffed, “Even if it’s for me, how come it’s in your hands?”
“We can discuss this inside; this isn’t a place for conversation,” Nick sighed inwardly, unsure of when he last had to be so humble.
Tony and Nick exchanged glances momentarily, “Come with me.”
After the two entered the villa, spies from various factions couldn’t see anything. Following the incident with Stan, the security at Tony’s villa was second to none compared to a central bank’s vault.
“This is what your father asked us to give to you. He hoped you would open it when you could stand alone,” Nick placed the box on the table, “We think it’s time now.”
Tony looked at the box but didn’t open it immediately, “I understand. If that’s all, you can leave now.”
“No, there’s one more thing,” Nick Fury pulled out a document from his bag and handed it to Tony,
“I hope you can join the Avengers initiative.” “You want me to be your subordinate?” Tony looked at Nick coldly, thinking he must be dreaming.
Nick shook his head, “There are countless things in this world that we humans can’t face alone, and since that thing appeared, these kinds of events have increased. So, I hope to build a team specifically for these events.”
Listening to Nick’s words, Tony became interested and read the document, “Oh, sounds interesting. Besides me, who else is on this team?”
“Only two elite agents under my command for now,” Nick said without embarrassment.
Tony snapped the document shut, “They joined there, too?”
Nick shook his head, puzzled why Black Widow and Hawkeye hadn’t been chosen, as they were undoubtedly much better than the fools under Ross’s command.
“Goodbye then,” Tony made a gesture to show Nick out.
“In the public database of the Avengers team, there’s all the information about that place over the years, and we can provide some of its currency,” Nick quickly added.
According to reports from his subordinates, Nick believed that Tony didn’t have many points now, as the places where
The points needed were just too many.
Listening to Nick, Tony started to think. In collecting points from the Main God Space, he definitely couldn’t compete with S.H.I.E.L.D. However, he still needed to learn this Avengers initiative was entirely right.
“Change the name,” Tony pondered momentarily, “How about calling it Avengers Team?”
Nick was stunned. Were these two names different?
Seeing Nick’s expression, Tony stood up.
“I’ll try to get an entry slot for my team and offer it to you, but not for free. You need to pay a certain amount of currency for this slot.”
Now, Nick understood that the difference mainly lay in the principal, as Tony wanted to establish his solid team.
After thinking for a while, Nick said, “Agreed, but there’s one condition.”
“What’s the condition?”
“We want to buy a certain number of armors from you,” Nick said, “and any reproducible method or item of ability.”
“Sure.”
Tony was naturally planning to sell the armor, but he wouldn’t sell them to warmongers; many ordinary people already had a hard enough time, and there were enough wars.
“Of course, the currency for the armor and items cannot be in dollars, and there must be restrictions on the use of the armor. If these restrictions are violated, I have the right to pursue it!”
In this “friendly” atmosphere, Tony and Nick started to discuss some specific details, including the armor model, the accompanying weapons, the particular prices, and the after-sales service to be provided.
