Marvel Rise of Lord God - Chapter 50
Early the next morning, Thor, who had been drinking all night without getting drunk himself, ended up getting everyone else drunk.
Asgardians are exceptionally strong in drinking, almost on par with the Russians. Hurrah!
“Good morning,” Thor greeted everyone, holding a small flat-bottomed pan with today’s breakfast.
After much thought, Thor decided that since he could no longer continue as the God of Thunder, he might as well live normally. At least the environment here was pleasant, and he had enough strength to support himself.
Beep, beep, beep! As Thor prepared breakfast, a piercing alarm sounded at the defence base, waking everyone up.
Agent Coulson hurried into the lab, where the alarm was sounding.
“We’ve detected a massive energy surge!” a researcher panickedly informed Coulson.
“If this energy continues, the Earth might be destroyed!” the researcher said, sweating profusely.
Coulson approached the screen, noting that the energy source was close, about ten to twenty kilometres away.
Qi Yun listened to the researcher’s words and scoffed.
“It’s just the Bifrost. If that could destroy the Earth, then the Ancient One might as well not exist, and Dormammu could die by tofu.”
If a mere object could accomplish what it hasn’t been able to for so long, the ruler of the Dark Dimension should change his title; it’s embarrassing.
However, it must be said that the Bifrost’s power to slice a planet the size of Earth is not an issue. It’s a device for rapid troop deployment and Asgard’s openly displayed “nuclear weapon.”
Thor also felt the familiar surge of energy from the Bifrost and immediately took Jane out of the room.
After they emerged, the energy fluctuations from the Bifrost gradually dissipated.
On the street, Sif and the Warriors Three, clad in armour, swaggered towards them, having transported via the Bifrost.
“Sif! Long time no see!” Thor greeted his old friend with a big hug.
Jane looked on, particularly at Sif, the spirited warrior woman.
“Come, let me introduce you,” Thor began to turn around.
“Stop! Thor, we came to you with urgent news!” Sif interrupted, “Loki has rebelled!”
“What?” Thor was stunned, “Wasn’t Loki named king of Asgard by our father before he died?”
“Dead? Lord Odin is only in a deep sleep!” Sif corrected, surprised, “And Loki was never the heir to Asgard. Where did you hear this?”
“What?!” With Sif’s words, Thor quickly realised that Loki had deceived him again, just like when they were children, but it was much worse.
“We’re here to take you back. No one in Asgard can keep him in check without you!” Sif spoke rapidly, clearly in a hurry.
Before Thor could reply, the energy from the Bifrost surged again. From afar, a giant mech appeared on the uninhabited land outside the town, its seamless shell astonishing Coulson – mechs are a man’s romance!
“Damn it! It’s the Destroyer!” Sif turned and exclaimed, surprised upon seeing the mech, “Loki has gone mad!”
“Jane! Get back to safety quickly!” Thor hugged Jane and then looked into her eyes.
“What about you?” Jane clung tightly to Thor’s clothes.
“I can’t run away. The Destroyer is one of Asgard’s most terrifying weapons. Nothing here can compare to it. Loki is here for me; I must find a way to deal with this!” Thor grasped Jane’s hand solemnly, then pulled her hand from his clothes. After one last look at Jane, Thor charged into the fleeing crowd, heading straight for the Destroyer.
The shell of the Destroyer, made from Asgard’s unique materials and technology, possessed great defensive, foldable, and therapeutic properties.
With his hands behind his back, Qi Yun watched as all obstructions disappeared under his gaze, revealing the truth in the data.
I was focused on the Destroyer; the magical armour delayed Qi Yun’s x-ray vision before being wholly penetrated.
The materials and manufacturing steps used in the entire shell were displayed as data in Qi Yun’s eyes.
Dozens of materials and thousands of processes were not the point; many were beyond Qi Yun’s ability to interpret fully. His world’s material database needed to be more significant. Forced interpretation was possible but would take more time.
Through the shell, Qi Yun looked at the Destroyer’s core, a furnace as bright as the sun, its energy source. Around the core were markings of Odin.
These markings blocked Qi Yun’s view, preventing him from quickly peering into the core.
Between the core and the shell were countless runes, interlocking and
She was stacking to form a perfect magical array.
Looking at this, Qi Yun’s understanding of runes leapt madly. Indeed, an artefact of Asgard, without the Ancient One’s intervention, this device could flatten the Earth just by activating.
Loki had barely activated the Destroyer with his wand, displaying less than one per cent of the Destroyer’s power.
Moreover, Loki’s control over the runes and Asgardian magic needed to improve, so many of the Destroyer’s functions were inoperable. It mainly relied on its automatic operations, attacks, and defences, reducing its power.
Despite this, the Destroyer’s power far exceeded the limits of Sif and the others. Its incomplete external defences easily resisted their attacks as if it were a game.
Their attacks were ineffective, and their defenses couldn’t hold, leaving Sif and the others to dodge, exhausting themselves continually.
Coulson watched the Destroyer rampage across the land, his heart filled with anxiety. None of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s weapons here could trim the Destroyer’s nails.
Then Coulson remembered that button, the red button obtained from Tony Stark.
Pulling out a small box from his pocket, Coulson entered the password and performed a fingerprint unlock. The box pinged open, revealing the button.
After taking out the button, Coulson decisively pressed it. The signal quickly spread through the air and entered a factory’s receiver.
