Marvel Rise of Lord God - Chapter 53
While carrying the Destroyer, Qi Yun swiftly returned to the Overlord Space and began using the system to analyze this aggressive artifact.
The divine power left by Odin on the Destroyer acted like a natural anti-theft device, slowing Qi Yun’s analysis.
After all, each step forward required the divine power within the Destroyer to be erased first.
“Sir, a world has sent us a distress signal,” Qiqi informed Qi Yun.
“Wait, a distress call to us? Wasn’t the full-scale invasion tactic of the previous Overlord supposed to have tarnished our reputation in the multiverse? Which world would be so bold?” Qi Yun asked curiously.
“It still needs to be clarified. The world consciousness of the other party could be stronger. It cannot explain the situation clearly,” Qiqi shook her head, “But judging by the frequency of the distress signals sent, the state of the other world is very poor, likely on the verge of destruction.”
“I see. I’ll go check it out now,” Qi Yun nodded.
The connection channel to the other world was relatively stable, and it was as if all their hopes were pinned on the Overlord Space.
“What kind of world is this…” Qi Yun marveled as he looked at the connection channel.
The entire channel was covered in ice, and upon touching it, Qi Yun found that the temperature was around minus fifty degrees Celsius. At this temperature, only elemental creatures of the ice type could survive. All other life forms would be nearly impossible to sustain.
“Let’s see what the situation is,” Qi Yun said, projecting his consciousness into the channel.
Qi Yun’s first impressions of this world were the biting cold wind and the bone-chilling ice.
The terrifying low temperatures had turned the entire world into a domain of ice and snow. Qi Yun looked around for a long time but found no signs of life.
The cities he saw were all deserted, with only some emaciated corpses lying on the ground, proof that people once existed here.
As he walked through the city, Qi Yun noticed that the technological level of this world didn’t seem very high; most technological products were coal-driven.
A faint yellow barrier manifested around Qi Yun, keeping the freezing temperatures at bay, as the temperature dropped even further to minus seventy degrees Celsius.
After a few steps, Qi Yun saw a pile of burnt ruins, which seemed relatively new, indicating they had been created not long ago.
Qi Yun flew into the air with a light tap of his toes. The vitality of energy in this world was dreadfully low, suppressing all magical effects and doubling the cost of spells.
From above, Qi Yun had a clear view of the ruins.
What is that? During his survey, Qi Yun saw a bunch of small black dots and flew towards them.
These were a group of human corpses, huddled together, wearing thick cotton coats, and then frozen together into a block of ice.
Looking at the expressions on their faces as they died, Qi Yun fell silent. He couldn’t imagine what these people had gone through and why each person had a smile on their face as they died.
After observing for a while, Qi Yun also learned how these ruins came to be. In their despair, these people ignited the entire residential area, and the brief warmth from the fire brought them back to a normal time in the world.
“Ah, they’re all poor souls.”
Qi Yun shook his head waved his hand, and numerous graves appeared on the ground, burying these people completely.
After doing this, Qi Yun continued forward, and soon, a black, technologically advanced tower appeared not far ahead.
A few kilometers later, Qi Yun arrived at the base of this tower-shaped building, which had already collapsed.
From the collapse point, it seemed there had been a massive explosion.
Beside the building, a large pile of coal was stacked, and Qi Yun found the building’s coal inlet as he circled it. Next to this inlet was a burly man wearing a coat and a mask.
This man did not die from the cold but from a wound that pierced him front to back – his fatal injury.
This man must have held a significant position. After his death, no one had touched his clothes, which was unimaginable in this resource-scarce, cold apocalypse.
The frozen corpse stared at the tower before him, perhaps pondering something before he died.
Qi Yun shook his head and moved past him, and the tower’s name appeared before him.
London Energy Tower.
A peculiar name, Qi Yun thought, placing his hand on the tower’s body, and the Energy Tower’s history unfolded in his mind.
This tower had once replaced the sun, becoming the only source of warmth in this city, like the last torch in this cold world.
Unfortunately, the world never lacks humans with watery brains. Once they managed to get some warmth, the water flowed out of their brains, and then these brainless fellows did something unimaginable.
Just a few days before the explosion of the Energy Tower, countless people had gathered around it. They seemed to
Be from a faction wanting to escape this apocalyptic city.
They wanted to take a large part of the coal resources and leave this dead city, believing cities beyond London would be warm.
This delusion seemed to have been brought by a wanderer. They were unwilling to believe in the leader and government who had made countless contributions but were willing to consider a wanderer who appeared out of nowhere – perhaps the best representation of human brainlessness.
The city’s leader, the man who died in front of the Energy Tower, patrolled with the last police officers 24/7, suppressing these divisive thoughts and barely maintaining the normal operation of the city.
However, as time passed, many police officers joined this group, and one day, the escape faction became the city’s mainstream.
The leader watched in despair as these people tore apart the city’s last food and coal without resistance, knowing this place was finished.
During this looting, the engineers within the escape faction pushed the Energy Tower to its maximum capacity.
Finally, the long-time overload made the internal pressure of the Energy Tower reach a critical point, and on the day these people were preparing to leave, the Energy Tower finally exploded.
With the loss of the Energy Tower, the temperature plummeted, and many resources were destroyed.
Then, within just half a day, this barely functioning city died completely.
From the perspective of the Energy Tower, those who left the desolate city encountered a blizzard right after they left, annihilated, with their corpses blown away to unknown places.
And those like the leader, who chose to stay, ignited their houses and closed their eyes in the roaring flames.
