Marvel Rise of Lord God - Chapter 54
After witnessing the entire history of the Energy Tower, Qi Yun fell silent. This world needed more energy resources, and its intelligent beings seemed lacking in wisdom. They were not only weak in combat but foolish to an extreme degree.
The simple principle of not believing or spreading rumors was beyond them. Had none of them ever been educated?
While Qi Yun was lamenting the state of this world and feeling sorry for its leader, he heard noises coming from the city’s edge.
In a flash, Qi Yun teleported to the outskirts of the city.
“Hey, are you sure they’ve completely collapsed?” a person clad in white cautiously asked another while looking ahead.
“When have my actions ever disappointed you? Rest assured, I’ve spent three days convincing many people. Their leader never chose to suppress them with force; they couldn’t hold on,” responded Rat, grinning and stroking his mustache.
“True, it looks like the Energy Tower has already stopped,” the other person confirmed after checking.
“That’s right. Before I left, they had attacked the guards of the Energy Tower several times. If it could have been defended, that would have been a miracle,” Rat continued.
“Enough, don’t overemphasize your importance. Once we get the resources back, I’ll report to the higher-ups and get you more food. I don’t know why you need so much for yourself alone,” the person responded dryly.
Rat just smiled, evidently proud of himself.
The person gestured backward, and a group clad in white coats emerged from the snowy ground.
Qi Yun listened to their conversation and felt even more that the leader deserved better. The actions and thoughts of these people were repulsive.
As he turned to leave, an icy wall sprung up from beneath the feet of the group, trapping them inside.
“What is this?!” Rat banged on the ice wall in front of him, panicked.
“How should I know? Start breaking it! If we don’t, we’ll freeze to death here today!” the person shouted, picking up a weapon and furiously hitting the wall.
However, Qi Yun’s magic was more challenging. The ice wall continuously absorbed the surrounding ice and snow, thickening further.
After trapping these despicable individuals, Qi Yun sighed and left. These people were doomed; a blizzard would soon arrive, and they would pay for their actions!
Moreover, Qi Yun stopped responding to this world’s call for help. Due to the severe damage, the world’s rate of drawing energy from the void had become too slow. Qi Yun would have to subsidize its power for a long time to save it.
Additionally, Qi Yun didn’t see the inhabitants of this world as worthy of help. Adding such people to the Overlord Space would likely degrade its environment significantly.
Having lived in a world of order, Qi Yun did not appreciate chaos. While he could tolerate some useful criminals since no world could be completely pure, adding these individuals would drastically alter his balance of black and white.
Shortly after making this decision, Qi Yun sensed human activity on the other side of the city.
Although he had no plans to help this world, he was still willing to eradicate threats. Of course, any eradication had to be thorough!
Qi Yun swiftly moved to the other side, where a group dressed in motley clothes appeared, all looking exhausted, seemingly having walked a long distance.
“Big brother, it seems like the gathering place in London is also devoid of people,” one person said to the group leader.
“That can’t be true. Such a large gathering place can’t be empty,” the leader shook his head, unwilling to accept the reality.
“Deer brother, give it up. The Energy Tower has been out for over a day; no one can be alive!” a younger member said. “They aren’t like us, prepared for everything.”
“I understand what you mean,” sighed Deer’s brother. “Let’s split up; a few of us will search for survivors, and the rest will see what resources can be taken back.”
“But, the blizzard is due tomorrow! If we evacuate in time, we can return! Our families are waiting for us at home!”
“Listen to me! What if there are still survivors?” Deer’s brother spoke loudly. “In these last moments, we humans must help each other. Every additional person increases our strength and our chances of surviving the disaster. This world will eventually return to how it used to be.”
“I get it. Then the three of us will search, and the rest will move the items,” another person said. “But, Deer brother, the leader said, helping others must be predicated on protecting ourselves. If you plan to extend our stay, I absolutely won’t agree!”
“I understand,” Deer’s brother nodded, not planning to extend their stay because he, too, had responsibilities towards these people.
Qi Yun watched their actions, momentarily unsure what to say. In just under ten minutes
, he had seen two completely different groups of survivors.
The actions of the second group gave him hope that this world might still be saved.
Separated by no more than a hundred meters, they continued to advance and soon came across a cemetery that Qi Yun had erected.
“Deer brother! Deer brother! Come quick! There’s a cemetery here!” one shouted excitedly.
“That’s great! The presence of a cemetery means there are still living people in this city!” Deer brother exclaimed as if he had found gold.
“Is anyone there? Any survivors?! We’re from the House of Winter! If there’s anyone, speak up, we’ll take you home!” Deer brother shouted.
The sound carried over to where Rat was.
“Did you guys hear that?” the previously despairing Rat suddenly jumped up.
“I heard it, and it sounds like someone is searching for survivors.” The leader was also surprised, thinking they might get help breaking the ice wall.
“Yeah, yeah, these fools will help us!” Rat laughed. “Everyone, shout together!”
“We’re here! We need help!” a group of people shouted.
Qi Yun coldly glanced over, blocking out all the noise from Rat’s side. These people didn’t deserve redemption!
Deer’s brother grew worried after shouting for a while with no response. Had he arrived too late? Could the survivors already be dead?
“Let’s not call out anymore; they might be asleep. Let’s just search; we have five hours left before leaving. Speed up, and find whoever we can!” Deer brother said determinedly.
“Understood!”
Thus, the three split up and continued their search.
Meanwhile, others had reached the collapsed Energy Tower, now hastening to load coal onto the cart they had brought.
Watching their actions, Qi Yun suddenly smiled. Humans truly were complex beings. But this complexity made him consider helping them after all.
