Marvel Rise of Lord God - Chapter 56
In front of Deer Brother, the “Winter Home” base was situated in a vast pit that effectively helped conserve warmth while blocking some cold winds. This geographical feature was fundamental to the development of Winter Home.
At the centre of the pit stood the most crucial facility of Winter Home, an energy tower, which was the source of heat for the entire base.
Near the edge of the base was a structure resembling a lighthouse. As night approached, a huge balloon rose from the top of the lighthouse, emitting a white light to guide all those who had left back home.
At the base’s edge, several guards clad in cotton coats and armed with longswords or crossbows stood at the entrance of the outpost dispatch station.
Despite its grandiose name, the dispatch station was essentially a large elevator designed to transport people leaving and returning. Two such stations were at the base, symmetrically positioned on either side.
As Deer Brother and his group arrived, hunters from Winter Home emerged from the station, fully armed. They were preparing to check their traps on the ice fields and bring back the captured food to the base.
This food accounted for seventy per cent of the base’s food supply, with the remainder coming from several greenhouses.
Everyone who passed by Deer Brother cast curious glances at him because he seemed like a mobile heater, moving warmth with him wherever he went.
Despite the allure of the warmth, strict discipline and firm beliefs kept most people steadfast in their posts.
Only such disciplined survivors could afford to search the vast ice fields for other survivors.
Deer Brother quickened his pace towards the energy tower, where the leader’s office was.
The leader of Winter Home was the most visionary person Deer Brother had ever met. Despite opposition from the majority when the base was first established, the leader expended great effort to send people to nearby cities to collect mechanical cores.
These collected mechanical cores were later turned into giant robots in the factory, and the subsequent blizzards proved the leader’s decision to be correct.
In those snowy days, without these robots, they would have had to dig for coal with the lives of countless companions to keep the energy tower running.
It wasn’t long before Deer Brother saw the leader checking the energy tower with some engineers.
As soon as Deer Brother entered the fifty-meter range, the leader immediately felt the change in temperature around him.
“Deer Brother?!” The leader turned around, very surprised at the source of the heat, “What’s happening here?”
Ten minutes later, the two were discussing in the leader’s office.
“I understand your point. If there is such a spell, it would be good news for the base,” the leader said while looking at Deer Brother.
The heaters in the room were turned off, but with the spell still in effect, it remained as warm as spring.
“Yes, I hurried back because I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to learn the spell,” Deer Brother explained, pulling out the golden ticket from his pocket and placing it on the table.
“What… what are you doing?”
The leader blinked, puzzled. From his perspective, Deer Brother seemed to be carefully holding something invisible and placing it on the table.
“I’m handing over the ticket,” Deer Brother explained, then seeing the leader’s puzzled look, he realised something, “Can’t you see it?”
The leader shook his head, “I don’t see anything.”
“How can this be?!” Deer Brother was stunned, “How is this possible?”
“Don’t panic.” The leader stood up, his mind racing, “Didn’t that wizard say he gave you a chance? Maybe only you can see this. Let me call some people in to check.”
Deer Brother nodded, his hand still pressing on the ticket as if afraid it would suddenly disappear.
A few minutes later, Deer Brother sighed after a dozen engineers had rotated through the office. The leader was right; only he could see the ticket.
“It seems this burden ultimately falls on you,” the leader said, patting Deer Brother’s shoulder after the last engineer left.
Deer Brother wiped his face, feeling a sudden increase in pressure, “Should I open it now?”
“Don’t rush, and I will prepare something for you. Learning a spell might not be easy and dangerous,” the leader said as he opened a drawer and placed a handgun on the table before Deer Brother.
“This gun has been with me for over a decade. I’ve always cherished it, so it still works. Now, I’m entrusting it to you. Make good use of it.”
Deer Brother took a deep breath, taking the base’s one of the two handguns, twirling it before scratching his head, “But, I don’t know how to use it.”
“No problem, we still have a few hours. I’ve already called the police captain over. He’ll give you crash training soon. Just master the basic skills of
Shooting before you leave, anyway, this thing is more useful than a shovel,” the leader explained.
Hours later, with only half an hour left for the spell, Deer Brother sat in a specially prepared room, solemnly opening the ticket.
A flash of light passed, and Deer Brother left the place through a world channel.
Inside the Main God Space, Qi Yun, busy deciphering the Destroyer’s plans, looked up. He felt his golden ticket had been opened.
“Qiqi, come here. I have a task for you,” Qi Yun called out.
Soon, a teleportation portal opened beside Qi Yun, and Qiqi jumped out.
“The person from the ice world has already come over. Just arrange a suitable mission for him; it will not be too difficult,” Qi Yun instructed.
“I understand,” Qiqi nodded, “Sir, shouldn’t we offer him some favors? The mortality rate in the newcomer’s world isn’t low.”
“There’s no need for special treatment. Helping him once doesn’t mean we can help him a second time. Only self-rescuers can truly save themselves,” Qi Yun continued.
“I understand,” Qiqi replied, preparing to leave.
“Wait,” Qi Yun suddenly called Qiqi back, pondering for a moment before looking up, “Here, adjust the internal system to give him three chances to ask questions so he doesn’t flounder like a headless fly.”
“Okay.”
These three questions would be Qi Yun’s final help to Deer Brother. They could only regret his loss if Deer Brother died in the mission world.
The situation in the ice world was dire, and the newly awakened Main God Space could not help much because fully aiding them would severely slow its development pace.
