Marvel Saiyans - Chapter 25
“Beep!”
The numbers in the Power Level Detection Goggles jumped, detecting the combat power ratings of everyone present. Alejandro, Matt, and Wade had combat powers closely matched at 16, 15, and 17, respectively. Surprisingly, Wade, who seemed the least imposing, had the highest combat rating among the three.
Broly’s power rating was a substantial 89, even in a calm state, and could rapidly increase if he became emotionally heightened.
This rating was comparable to Goku’s at the beginning of Dragon Ball. However, Broly knew he would undoubtedly be the victor in a fight.
He had figured out that the Power Level Detection Goggles worked by detecting the energy radiations within a target’s body and analyzing their weapons to estimate combat power.
This concept is also portrayed in the comics when Frieza’s forces, led by Krillin and Gohan, simply concealed their energies, fooling the goggles’ scan. If the goggles could detect the target’s strength and martial skill level, Krillin and Gohan would have been exposed immediately.
Another clear evidence was that Broly was born with a combat power 10,000 but was almost effortlessly banished. King Vegeta’s exact power level was never specified in the comics, but Vegeta once claimed he surpassed his father in his childhood.
His combat power was 18,000 when he made this statement, indicating King Vegeta’s power limit was around 10,000. Banishing Broly, who had a combat power of 10,000, could not have been easy.
The real reason was likely that although Broly had an energy level of 10,000, his infant body couldn’t harness this energy’s destructive potential.
Broly could also understand why the Power Level Detection Goggles gave him a low combat power of 15 when he first arrived on Earth; his body wasn’t weakened, but the energy had disappeared. Due to the cosmic dimensions, enhancing energy in the Marvel Universe might be much more challenging than in the Dragon Ball universe.
Facing Frieza on Earth twelve years later was indeed tricky. When he first arrived, he likely still carried the energy of the Dragon Ball universe, with his final form capable of unleashing a full combat power of 120 million. He might win if he could delay, gradually allowing Frieza’s energy to dissipate under universal laws.
Unfortunately, Frieza wasn’t the typical foolish boss from the comics. Upon discovering this, he might choose to destroy the Earth directly.
As for the physical strength of Saiyans, it isn’t as formidable as one might think; their unmatched destructive power largely stems from the amplification of their energy. The comics have shown many instances where Saiyans do not use their energy for strength.
On the spaceship flying to Planet Namek, Goku initially struggled under 20 times Earth’s gravity during training, wearing only his lightweight martial arts uniform. In volume 36, Trunks and Vegeta trained together in the gravity chamber under 150 times gravity and could barely move without transforming into Super Saiyans.
In the same volume, while training in the Other World, Goku was burdened by 40 tons of weight imposed by the King Kai. He could barely lift his hands under normal conditions, only becoming agile after transforming into a Super Saiyan.
In Dragon Ball fights, the earth-shattering punches are mainly due to the power of energy. Physical strength isn’t crucial as long as one can withstand the energy within and fully unleash its destructive power.
At this moment, Broly’s physical strength had a decisive advantage over Goku’s in his childhood when the energy was still weak.
As the energy grew, this advantage would quickly diminish.
“Are these goggles some kind of smart glasses like Google Glasses?”
Wade curiously examined the Power Level Detection Goggles.
“This is a Power Level Detection Goggle; it can detect a person’s combat strength, but it has a large margin of error when measuring ordinary people’s combat capabilities.” All living beings have energy, but ordinary people simply can’t harness the power of this energy, so using the goggles to assess their combat ability is unreliable.
The combat powers of Wade, Alejandro, and Matt measured in the teens, and they appeared not to be much different from ordinary soldiers. Still, in the right battlefield conditions, it wouldn’t be difficult for them to take on ten each.
Matt was moved; the technology level of these goggles was very high, something he had never seen before, even in his CIA experience.
“So, what are our combat strengths?”
Discussing combat power rankings is a topic everyone enjoys and is very prone to debate.
Upon learning their combat strengths, Wade was ecstatic, while Alejandro and Matt looked somewhat displeased.
“Let me see who in the city exceeds a combat strength of ten.”
Untrained ordinary people, even with firearms, wouldn’t have a combat strength over eight. Almost everyone over ten is a well-trained warrior. Intense training subtly enhances their energy.
Broly adjusted the goggles’ search mode. Numbers flickered in his vision, and the goggles quickly completed a city-wide combat power search, filtering out those with abnormal strengths from among 1.3 million people.
“Two hundred fifty-three people, concentrated in seven enemies, one of whom has a combat strength of fifty-three—probably a mutant or superhuman,” Broly said.
“That must be the hideout of Alarcon. I know he bought a mutant as a bodyguard because he’s terrified of being assassinated,” Alejandro added, as he had been consciously collecting intelligence on his enemies.
“Let’s go then.”
Matt didn’t want to waste time and quickly started the car. Under Broly’s guidance, they headed toward Alarcon’s hideout.
“How much is your combat strength?”
Wade was very curious; he wanted to know how strong Broly, who could face the Mexican army head-on, indeed was.
“In my normal state, it’s 89, but if I’m enraged, my combat power instantly spikes to 445, and it keeps increasing with the battle.”
Broly primarily said this for Matt’s benefit, allowing the CIA to assess his power to prevent misunderstandings that could lead to unpleasant situations for both sides.
Although his enraged state only boosted his power by five times, which might seem less impressive than his Giant Ape form, this fivefold increase was in strength, speed, stamina, and energy. The Giant Ape form might increase strength and power by ten times, but due to the massive increase in size, the actual combat effectiveness isn’t as exaggerated.
When transformed into the Giant Ape on Earth, Vegeta theoretically had a combat strength 180,000. Still, he failed to show this overwhelming dominance in actual combat due to various trade-offs.
