Marvel Saiyans - Chapter 35
In the power-scanning glasses, the location and power level of Kakarot quickly appeared, her combat power having grown from three to six. Her location was over ten kilometers southwest.
It seemed she hadn’t been lax during this time, seriously practicing the Satanic martial arts Broly had taught her.
Since Kakarot wasn’t in serious trouble, Broly decided to understand the situation first. If she had transformed into a Giant Ape, it would have caught the FBI’s or S.H.I.E.L.D’s attention.
Perhaps she had been captured.
Crossing the devastated cornfields, Broly entered the Sharp Farm. Clint Sharp and his daughter, Katrina Sharp, were cleaning up the ruins. Their house was severely damaged, nearly reduced to rubble. The father-daughter duo were trying to salvage what they could from the debris.
Seeing Broly return, Clint immediately showed a look of impending doom. He had watched the riots in Mexico City from start to finish through a Fox broadcast and recognized Broly in the video. Later, he saw the news of the Reyes Group’s destruction. In his eyes, Broly was akin to a demon emerging from hell.
“What happened here?” Broly asked, pointing to the destroyed cornfield and house.
“A Giant Ape, nearly as big as King Kong, burst out of the desert last night, rampaging through everything in its path,” Clint explained.
Broly’s expression was odd; the Sharps seemed unaware that the Giant Ape was Kakarot. But without seeing it themselves, most people wouldn’t believe a young girl could transform into a Giant Ape just by seeing the full moon.
“Where did Kakarot go?”
He asked.
Clint Sharp’s legs went weak, nearly collapsing. He had planned to flee with his daughter after salvaging some valuables, but Broly had returned just in time.
It felt like the sky was falling.
Kakarot had been going out every morning, waiting for Broly in the wilderness outside the town until late at night. Katrina had accompanied her at first, but after realizing that ordinary adults couldn’t harm Kakarot and that, due to heavy schoolwork, Kakarot had recently been going alone,
Last night, the Giant Ape came, causing chaos in Lahitas Town. After the turmoil subsided, Kakarot still hadn’t appeared. Clint was panicking, hastily searching for Kakarot around Lahitas Town, but found no trace of her.
“She’s missing… maybe… maybe she was killed by that Giant Ape,” Clint stammered.
“What happened to the Giant Ape? Was it subdued in the end?” Broly asked, concerned that if Kakarot had been subdued, it could complicate things.
“How could the town police handle a Giant Ape? Their police cars were thrown onto rooftops, and after firing a few shots at the Giant Ape, they fled. Later, a group of agents in black suits drove the Giant Ape back into the desert,” Clint described the events of that night. Those black men were now staying in the town and warned the townspeople that they hadn’t killed the Giant Ape and that it could return at any time.
This warning didn’t reassure the people but triggered a mass exodus, with almost everyone fleeing Lahitas Town. The quick had left last night, and many more had packed their bags and left that morning. Clint had spent so much time searching for Kakarot; otherwise, he would have gone too.
Texas might be rugged, but not rugged enough to live next to a ten-meter-tall Giant Ape.
“Men in black suits?”
Too many spy organizations exist in America for non-professionals to distinguish their identity.
“You don’t need to leave Lahitas Town; the Giant Ape won’t appear again,” Broly said, planning to find Kakarot first.
Clint Sharp breathed a sigh of relief when Broly didn’t blame him for losing Kakarot, feeling like he had returned from hell to heaven. Seeing that Broly intended to eliminate the Giant Ape, he was overjoyed.
To many, being a farmer in America seems a blissful occupation. However, many farmers are on the brink of bankruptcy, relying on loans to keep going, and cash flow issues are common. Pesticides, expensive Monsanto seeds, and agricultural machinery’s rent or repair costs must be financed.
They have to wait until the crops are harvested to be able to repay the loans. With commodity prices falling, the pressure on American farmers has been increasing for years, and their income is now only half of what it was six years ago. They rely on government subsidies for agricultural production to maintain this fragile balance.
Government subsidies now account for 12% to 24% of producers’ total income.
The attack by the Giant Ape disrupted this fragile balance, causing most farms in Lahitas Town to see a sharp decline in output. Farmers unable to repay loans would go bankrupt instantly, and some small banks could go bankrupt due to overdue loans.
If the Giant Ape doesn’t return, he could stay and take care of the remaining corn in the fields and perhaps barely manage to repay the loans after the harvest. Unfortunately, Katrina couldn’t study in New York now; he simply couldn’t afford the expensive tuition.
Broly didn’t know all these thoughts were going through Clint’s mind. Since there was an agency active, he didn’t use his shockingly fast speed to get there. After borrowing the car keys from Clint, he drove towards Kakarot’s direction.
The vast yellow sands of the desert north of Lahitas Town had already scarcely traveled, and only a few mules had passed through to avoid DEA searches. After the appearance of the Giant Ape, even the desperate mules dared not come near.
Broly’s hand on the steering wheel suddenly paused; a cluster of combat responses appeared in the desert, about twenty people, all with combat powers around ten, the highest even reaching fifteen, comparable to Wade. This was a well-trained team, probably the agents who had repelled Kakarot.
They also noticed Broly; five black, full-sized Chevrolet Suburbans surrounded the battered pickup in the middle.
“What’s your name, sir?”
A slightly bald agent stepped down from the vehicle, sizing up the person inside the car. He found only one person in the car, a handsome man with a carefree appearance, dressed in a well-fitted suit, with a physique that made him a life winner, the type who could order a drink at a bar and continuously attract young women.
“Bruce Wayne,” the man in the car replied, handing over his driver’s license.
Phil Coulson checked the driver’s license and found it didn’t appear to be fake.
“Mr. Wayne, there have been monster sightings in this desert recently. Please leave this area as soon as possible.”
He returned the driver’s license to “Bruce Wayne.”
“Ha, I’m an enthusiast of the occult, and I came from Austin because I heard there were monster sightings here.”
“Bruce Wayne,” he said, showing the DSLR camera on the passenger seat. His expression was natural, showing no sign of abnormality.
Phil Coulson pondered for a moment before returning to his vehicle.
“Mr. Wayne, you better be careful. We won’t risk rescuing you if you encounter that Giant Ape.”
