Marvel Saiyans - Chapter 59
Broly leaped from the wooden boat and stood on the grass, gazing at the wooden tower where the Mandarin resided. The tower was intricately carved and painted, exuding a majestic yet non-pretentious vibe, displaying the overwhelming presence of its owner, as formidable and vast as a tiger that devours the land.
Even from a distance, Broly could feel the tower’s master watching him.
A person’s character can influence their energy, which is almost impossible to conceal except by a few rare techniques. Many martial arts require a compatible temperament; if not, practice might prove futile or even lead to madness. Some sinister martial arts can even alter a practitioner’s personality through their energy.
Broly was sensing the Mandarin’s energy. The Mandarin was a supremely domineering and self-centered individual, even ruthless. His unabashed and potent energy swirled around the wooden tower like a black dragon, overlooking Broly with disdain.
Nearly a century of cultivation, he made the Mandarin’s energy profoundly mysterious, like an abyss. Broly found it impossible to gauge his true strength, which was the first in his experience.
Broly began to tremble with excitement.
Feeling insignificant, are you? Wang Xiuhong smirked mockingly at Broly. He had already informed his master en route to intimidate Broly. These Americans were naive, thinking anyone they brought could match his master.
Even among the powerful in the Central Lands, only three could stand equal to his master.
“Roar!”
Broly entered his enraged state. Much stronger than during his time in Mexico City, his power surged impressively upon entering this state, his pupils turning orange-yellow and green energy flaring around him like flames.
The ground under him shook violently. The man-made lake’s waters stirred without wind, causing the boat to rock unsteadily. The lake’s koi, more sensitive than humans, swam frantically to the other side in terror.
“What kind of energy is this… What martial art is this?”
Standing next to Broly, Wang Xiuhong stepped back several paces. This energy was far more potent than anything shown in Mexico City; he wouldn’t last ten moves against it. He’d be beaten to death.
If the master’s energy was supremely arrogant, then this man’s energy was intensely contentious and destructive.
“Turtle… School… Ki… Blast!”
Destructive energy rapidly gathered between Broly’s palms as if he were holding a green sun.
“Not good!”
A shout of alarm came from inside the wooden tower, and Wang Xiuhong quickly jumped back into the boat, fleeing with Matt and others.
“This… is this the madness Alex spoke of… it’s terrifying… like a nightmare made manifest,” Matt watched in shock as Broly’s powerful and destructive energy overwhelmed his senses. “Hey! Hey! Broly, don’t kill the Mandarin!”
Shaking his head at the naivety of the Americans, Wang Xiuhong commented:
“At this level, he’s still no match for the master but already much stronger than the inheritors of the Storm of the Central Lands. I thought there were no more prodigies beyond those two, but where did this man come from?”
As they spoke, Broly already unleashed the energy in his hands.
“Dragon Slayer Path!”
A figure suddenly appeared before the green ki wave, unleashing a dragon-shaped energy strike with a kick that sent the ki wave soaring into the air.
“Boom!”
The ki wave exploded in the sky, almost dyeing the sky above the valley green, creating shockwaves like a hurricane that lifted all the lotus leaves from the man-made lake. If not for Wang Xiuhong and Xu Mei releasing their inner energy to defend, their wooden boat would have capsized.
The Mandarin revealed himself, appearing much younger than his disciple Wang Xiuhong. He looked like a vigorous man in his forties, with a commanding presence, black hair tinged with streaks of white, thick eyebrows, piercing eyes, and a beard that reached his chest. He wore a dark robe, exuding a formidable aura.
He glanced at the exploding ki wave in the sky, his eyelid twitching. It was his first time encountering such a reckless and brutally simple tactic. That single move could destroy the wooden tower and the mountain behind it.
If he let this “Green Demon” continue wreaking havoc, all his precious containers would be smashed to smithereens.
Thinking this, he gestured with one hand, summoning a mighty column of water from the man-made lake, pouring down towards Broly. Then, converting his true essence, he turned it into freezing frost energy.
Proud Snow Over Frost!
This move was from the supreme martial art of Central Earth, Frost Fist, known for its strength, consisting of four stages: Proud Stand on Lonely Peak, Seeking Plum on Snowy Ridge, Clouds Pressing the Summit, and Frost River Reflection. The Mandarin’s icy frost energy could instantly freeze a tsunami or encase a river surface in ice.
The icy frost energy instantly turned the lake water and Broly into a massive block of ice.
The Mandarin innovated as he froze his opponent, using the frost energy to erode his meridians, rendering him unable to circulate his inner force, leaving him to freeze to death helplessly.
“Is he dead? No, wait!”
The Mandarin noticed that not only had Broly’s energy not weakened, it was getting stronger.
“Ha!”
Broly shattered the ice, forcing out the frost energy that had invaded his body, leaving the ground a mess. His green flames surged, and he vanished from the spot.
In the next instant, he appeared in front of the Mandarin, slashing with a hand strike towards his neck.
The Mandarin countered with the Frost Moon Embrace, defending against the hand strike and using the chilling energy in a counter-attack, attempting to freeze Broly’s circulating blood with frost energy.
The two exchanged dozens of moves in moments.
Broly was hit repeatedly by the Mandarin’s frost-filled punches, but instead of faltering, his energy only grew stronger.
“This person’s energy is directly converted from the vitality within his body, bypassing the main meridians and extraordinary channels. No wonder my frost energy couldn’t seal his meridians. How did he cultivate such seemingly infinite energy?” The Mandarin was baffled. “And does he have the resilience of an ancient behemoth? Despite being struck by so many punches, he remains unbroken. Even someone with the ninth level of the Golden Bell Shield would be broken by me!”
Broly suddenly flashed, distancing himself from the Mandarin. He began using his energy to drive out the chilling force the Mandarin had inflicted upon him.
His shirt had been shredded, revealing his robust physique. After entering his enraged state, although his intellect was halved, his martial arts talent dominated.
If the chilling energy penetrated his bloodstream, even a Saiyan could lose some combat ability if their blood froze and vessels were blocked. If ice in the blood reached his heart, it might be lethal.
His body was powerful, but his internal organs were still vulnerable, similar to how Goku could die from heart disease. The penetrating chill posed a significant threat to him.
He prepared to delay, needing time to counter this martial technique.
The next moment, energy gathered in Broly’s palms, and a ball of green energy soon floated above his hands.
[Turtle Hermit Style Martial Technique lv10: Ki Control Sphere, a manipulable energy sphere that can be repeatedly used for attacks. It doesn’t explode on impact unless the user detonates it, and it can change direction at will.]
The battle with the Mandarin caused all the martial techniques he had mastered to surge in level.
