Marvel Saiyans - Chapter 85
Two weeks after the battle in Afghanistan, Broly received a call from the Continental Hotel, notifying him that some funds needed to be settled.
During these two weeks, the Continental Hotel had received over one hundred million dollars in transfers, coming from the accounts of S.H.I.E.L.D., the CIA, and Stark Industries. Although the High Table was a behemoth among assassin organizations, it was still a small player compared to these groups. Receiving such a large amount of unexplained funds had them scrambling.
Through various channels, they learned that the money was for Batman.
The hotel’s intelligence system couldn’t uncover what had happened in Afghanistan. When they heard about the complete annihilation of the U.S. military armored division, they assumed Batman had perished in Afghanistan.
Upon receiving these transfers, they immediately elevated Batman’s rating and quickly prepared all the cash, knowing Broly preferred cash over checks and transfers. The cash, totaling over a ton, was prepared discreetly, despite the hotel’s extensive resources.
“Cade, hurry up!”
Broly, sitting cross-legged on the Nimbus Cloud, was getting bored.
“Almost done, Boss!”
Cade was packing cut beef, fruits, and vegetables into a large cooler. When he learned Broly was going to New York, he started preparing these items.
“All set!”
Cade secured the cooler after placing the last orange in the cooler and adding ice to keep it fresh.
With a wave of his hand, Broly made the cooler float onto the Nimbus Cloud. The cloud soared into the sky, disappearing in an instant.
Midtown High School finished classes early, with no classes after 2 PM.
Recently, Tessa Eagle, Peter Parker, and Gwen Stacy had been inseparable. After Peter presented the decay rate algorithm, the progress of the cross-species gene transfer project accelerated, successfully regenerating limbs in lab mice.
If this project succeeded, even as a phased achievement, Dr. Connors might win a Nobel Prize. As major contributors, the three of them would have their pick of Ivy League colleges.
However, it would take at least ten years and billions of dollars for a new drug to pass FDA approval and reach hospitals and pharmacies in the U.S.
Given the sensitivity of implanting foreign genes into humans, Dr. Connors was still struggling with how to apply for an IND for human trials.
Suddenly, Peter Parker froze, his spider-sense going haywire, making his hair stand on end.
Something extremely dangerous was nearby!
This intense fear felt like death itself had arrived.
“Peter, are you feeling okay?” Gwen Stacy, always attentive, noticed Peter’s pale face and sweat-soaked hair.
“Run, Gwen, run… get out of here! There’s something extremely dangerous nearby. I can feel it… the intense urge to destroy and kill… everyone will die…”
Ignoring the strange looks from classmates, Peter pinched his thigh hard, trying to use the pain to overcome his fear and give Gwen a chance to escape.
His spider sense was too sensitive, and he was easily overwhelmed. Just weeks ago, he was an ordinary high schooler, unprepared and weak-willed, now paralyzed by fear.
“Tessa!”
Sitting on a motorcycle with one foot on the ground, Broly waited at the school gate, a large cooler on his shoulder. He had used the Oolong Transformation Technique to alter his appearance. Both his Bruce Wayne persona and his real identity would bring too much danger to Tessa.
Tessa hesitated, then recognized Broly’s motorcycle and ran to his side excitedly.
“I was passing through New York, and your dad asked me to bring these,” Broly said, gesturing for Tessa to get on the bike.
Tessa climbed onto the motorcycle and waved to Peter and Gwen.
“My friend is picking me up today, so I won’t be going to the lab. Please tell the professor for me.”
Peter stiffly turned his head, recognizing Broly as the source of the terror. The fact that Tessa knew such a terrifying being made him reconsider her strange stories.
Could monsters really exist in this world?
“Tessa, didn’t know you had such poor taste. Ha! Who’s this country bumpkin?”
Flash Thompson sneered at Tessa.
Broly had randomly chosen a rugged appearance in Texas, looking mismatched with Tessa on the motorcycle, like Beauty and the Beast.
“None of your business, Flash.”
Tessa dismounted the bike and swiftly kicked Flash in the groin.
Her decisive move made all the men present instinctively protect themselves.
“You should thank me, Flash. Otherwise, you’d be dead.”
Flash let out a short scream, clutching his groin and falling to the ground.
“You coward, hiding behind a woman?”
He cursed at Broly.
Suddenly, a hand covered his mouth, and a swift chop knocked him out.
“Sorry, sir. I’ll take care of him.”
Peter dragged the unconscious Flash and hurriedly left with Gwen Stacy.
The aura from Broly was too terrifying, making Peter instinctively keep his distance.
“Your classmate is interesting, his aura is strange,” Broly commented.
He recognized Peter as Spider-Man and noticed his unusual aura, a seamless blend of two energies, not strong but able to sense him.
To avoid chaos or detection by others, Broly had concealed his aura, appearing as a slightly stronger than average human. But Peter sensed him regardless.
He might have even felt Broly’s power in his enraged form, explaining his terror.
“He’s Peter Parker, a fellow intern at Oscorp.”
Tessa explained.
“Oscorp?”
