Marvel Shuttling the Heavens - Chapter 270
“I will pilot it myself!” Lin Zhen Guo declared, his voice steady as he looked around at the confused faces in the command centre. The room fell silent, stunned by the general’s decision to pilot the Jaeger against the Kaiju personally.
“But we’re still short one pilot!” came a soft voice, breaking the silence. It was the same female voice from before.
“Uh, why is everyone looking at me? It’s just the truth,” Lin Yu Rou muttered, shrinking slightly under the weight of everyone’s gaze but continuing in a small voice.
“She’s right. We still need another pilot to co-pilot with me. Anyone willing to volunteer?” Lin Zhen Guo asked, scanning the room. “But be aware, piloting the new Mark-5 Jaeger could cause irreversible mental damage or even death. Think carefully before you volunteer.”
…
“General Lin, let me co-pilot with you!”
“General Lin, I volunteer!”
“Count me in!”
…
After a brief moment of silence, several voices rang out in succession as the young soldiers, still in training to become Jaeger pilots, stepped forward one by one, eager to help.
“You all have the right spirit! But we only need one pilot. The one with the best combat simulation scores, step forward,” Lin Zhen Guo said, feeling both proud and urgent.
“Wait, everyone look! Something unexpected is happening!”
The same female voice rang out again, filled with disbelief, interrupting Lin Zhen Guo’s selection process.
“Dammit, this girl is always interrupting me,” Lin Zhen Guo thought with exasperation. Nonetheless, he turned to see what had caused her outburst.
“What… is this? Are we in a Hollywood movie? Is this Superman?”
Seeing the new footage, Lin Zhen Guo was stunned. Despite his experience and the countless incredible events he had witnessed, the current scene left him unable to maintain his composure.
“Quick, contact the helicopters on-site. I need to know what’s happening!” Lin Zhen Guo ordered, regaining his composure.
“Yes, sir!” The staff, equally shocked, began to follow his orders immediately.
…
Meanwhile, Li Yue had already acted. Seeing the crimson Jaeger struggling against the Kaiju, he didn’t hesitate. He flashed forward, positioning himself between the Jaeger and the Kaiju.
To the Kaiju, Li Yue was no more than an annoying fly. Despite Li Yue hovering in the air, the Kaiju ignored him, continuing its charge towards the fallen Jaeger.
“Oh, just a slightly larger monster, and it dares to ignore me? Let’s see if you remember this!” Angered by the Kaiju’s disregard, Li Yue used half his strength to punch the Kaiju’s head.
The result was unexpected. Instead of sending the Kaiju flying, his fist penetrated its skin, embedding it into its skull. Blue blood gushed out.
“Ugh, disgusting!” Li Yue quickly withdrew, avoiding the spray but getting his arm covered in blue blood. Enraged, he dodged the Kaiju’s flailing limbs and delivered a powerful kick to its jaw, finally sending the beast tumbling through the air before crashing into the sea.
…
Inside the Crimson Typhoon, the three pilots were equally stunned.
“Is he Superman?” they wondered, unable to comprehend how a human-sized figure could kick a nearly 3,000-ton Kaiju into the sea—something their 80-meter-tall Jaeger couldn’t achieve.
“You guys waiting for me to help you up?” Li Yue shouted at the Jaeger, who seemed frozen in shock.
…
The sound of machinery whirring to life brought the pilots back to reality. They quickly manoeuvred the Crimson Typhoon to its feet.
“While its combat effectiveness isn’t great, it does look impressive,” Li Yue thought, gazing at the towering Jaeger. The sight stirred something within him—acknowledging the Jaeger’s sheer power and presence, even if its actual performance left much to be desired.
He could help them improve it, he mused. After all, he had access to advanced technologies from the Marvel Universe.
