Marvel Shuttling the Heavens - Chapter 286
Nublar Island is vast, making it suitable for transforming into a massive park for dinosaurs to inhabit. The island is lush with trees and almost entirely covered in greenery. Li Yue and his companions needed to use special sightseeing vehicles to explore the park. Under Chloe’s guidance, they boarded the sightseeing vehicle and slowly entered the heavily guarded park.
…
“Where are the dinosaurs? Why can’t I see anything?” Lin Yurou exclaimed as she peered out the car window, scanning the surroundings.
Despite driving a considerable distance, they saw no signs of dinosaurs, much to Lin Yurou’s disappointment.
“Don’t worry, Lin, we’ll see them soon,” Chloe comforted her.
True to her word, after a few more minutes of driving, they finally spotted a giant creature.
“Wow, we finally see a dinosaur! Its neck is so long, like a giraffe!” Lin Yurou exclaimed, filled with excitement and disbelief as she saw the massive dinosaur with a long neck, resembling a giraffe but much more significant and without any patterns. It was stretching its neck to eat the leaves from the top of a tree.
“That’s a Brachiosaurus, a herbivorous dinosaur. They are quite gentle, standing about 20 meters tall and weighing around 30 tons,” Chloe explained with a smile.
“Even though I knew you might have really revived dinosaurs, seeing them in person is still incredible. I can’t believe I have the chance to see creatures that disappeared millions of years ago. This is more shocking than seeing the kaiju for the first time,” Newton remarked, filled with awe.
It wasn’t just Lin Yurou who was amazed; the scientists Newton and Herman also found it unbelievable. They realised how lucky they were to witness living dinosaurs.
…
Li Yue, however, showed little surprise. Secretly, he had instructed his AI assistant, Xiao Dai, to scan the dinosaur, hoping to gather some helpful information. Li Yue was already suspicious of the organisation behind the dinosaur revival, especially after sensing a significant energy release from the lab just after they left.
Using his mental powers, Li Yue observed the scene in the lab and became more confident that Jurassic Park, appearing in the Pacific Rim world, had severe issues. There was a high probability that it was connected to the kaiju or the aliens behind them.
The older man he saw was likely the mastermind. Li Yue suspected his identity, noting the older man’s resemblance to John Hammond, the financier who built Jurassic Park in the movie.
Li Yue’s investigation revealed the older man was engaging in neural interfacing with the dying kaiju brain. This led Li Yue to believe that the older man had likely interfaced with kaiju before and possibly communicated with aliens. The revival of dinosaurs might have involved alien assistance.
Li Yue wondered why the aliens would have their human accomplices continue reviving dinosaurs. How did this aid their plan to conquer Earth?
…
With these doubts in mind, Li Yue continued to tour the park with Lin Yurou and the others. After seeing the first dinosaur, it seemed they couldn’t stop. Almost every few meters, they spotted another dinosaur.
The island hosted many types of dinosaurs, so much so that even Li Yue, unfamiliar with all the species, had trouble identifying them. Fortunately, Chloe was there to provide introductions. Lin Yurou was so fascinated that she couldn’t take her eyes off the dinosaurs, barely recovering from seeing one species before spotting another.
Half an hour later, they arrived at a plain with no tall trees, just green grass. Here, they encountered another type of dinosaur, a herd resembling ostriches in size but more akin to running horses, kicking up clouds of dust as they raced across the plain.
…
“Wow, so spectacular!”
Overcome with excitement and perhaps a sense of safety from the uneventful journey, Lin Yurou jumped out of the car when she saw the herd of dinosaurs, ignoring Chloe’s warning cries of “Stay in the car, it’s dangerous!”
“That girl, she’s such trouble,” Li Yue sighed. He knew he had to intervene.
“You stay here, I’ll get her back,” Li Yue told the others before jumping out of the car.
By the time Li Yue got out, Lin Yurou had already run a dozen meters, calling out to the racing dinosaurs. Li Yue shook his head and walked towards her. The dinosaurs seemed to hear Lin Yurou’s calls and changed their direction, now charging towards her.
The herd moved fast, almost as quick as horses, and within seconds, they were less than a hundred meters away from Lin Yurou. She seemed oblivious to the danger, still waving and shouting at the dinosaurs. Li Yue quickly reached her side.
“Lin Yurou, let’s get back to the car. They’re about to charge at us! Your small frame won’t stand a chance against them,” Li Yue warned.
“Wait, Li Yue, I can feel they’re just coming to greet me. Don’t worry, there’s no danger,” Lin Yurou insisted, looking at him with certainty.
“Greet you? Are you kidding me? They’re not slowing down at all!” Li Yue said, noting the dinosaurs were now less than fifty meters away.
“My intuition is never wrong. They’re just excited to see me! If you don’t believe me, let’s wait here and see,” Lin Yurou said firmly.
“Interesting. I’m curious to see how they’ll greet you. Let’s find out,” Li Yue responded, intrigued by her certainty.
