Marvel's Princess - Chapter 56
The range hood was certainly not a heavy weapon; it was large, but it couldn’t inflict much damage when smashed down.
Bella’s movements seemed frantic, but she actually used the range hood to trap the alligator’s mouth. How long it would stay trapped was uncertain, but it provided an opportunity.
“Run! Into the water! Swim fast!”
Haley was a champion swimmer from her school team, and Bella’s swimming speed was even more remarkable. She stealthily kicked the alligator’s belly before following Haley out of the kitchen.
“Haley! Haley!” A middle-aged man kept shouting from the stairs.
“Hold onto your dad!”
Bella found an overturned assault boat, noting the high quality of this police equipment, which could still be used even after flipping over.
“Hurry up! We need to get out of here!” The storm was fierce, and they had to shout to be heard.
Bella first dragged her forefathers onto the boat, then went to pull the middle-aged man.
Huh? Halfway through, the weight in her hand suddenly increased tenfold, and before she could react, the man let out a piercing scream.
Without a second thought, Bella dove into the water and saw the six-meter-long alligator tightly gripping the man’s right leg.
The alligator’s murky eyes showed only ferocity. It twisted its body, apparently trying to drag the man away.
Bella didn’t know how to save him at first, so she rushed to pry the alligator’s mouth open.
Underwater, her strength couldn’t fully manifest, and with the alligator’s strong bite, she repeatedly tried to force its mouth open while fiercely kicking its head. They were at a stalemate, neither able to overpower the other.
The alligator’s teeth were deeply embedded in the man’s flesh; even if she could pry its mouth open, he couldn’t escape.
That right leg was beyond saving! Barbosa had lost a leg, and now this middle-aged man would too. Bella was speechless; her lineage seemed cursed—anyone who became her father was doomed!
“I’m going to amputate your leg!” she shouted.
The middle-aged man was brave; he didn’t know how Bella would amputate his leg but still nodded in agreement.
“Haley! Hold him!”
Bella picked up a meat cleaver from underwater, which had apparently floated from the kitchen.
Amputating the leg was no easy task. The man’s leg had already been severely injured by the alligator’s attack, torn open in several places. Now, as the alligator ripped it further, the already damaged leg looked even more mangled.
Bella carefully examined the wound, then harshly sliced along the edge of the alligator’s teeth with the meat cleaver.
Haley, above, pulled on her father’s shoulders. As the leg was severed, Bella supported it; together, on the boat, they managed to get the injured man onto the assault boat.
“Bella! Get on quick!”
Haley shouted anxiously; she didn’t want this passerby to get injured or worse. She tried to help in the water, but her father’s condition was dire. With the amputation and significant blood loss, the man’s face was deathly pale. He had passed out, and Haley could only tear off her sleeve, trying to stem the bleeding, but blood continued to pour out.
Bella was also desperate; she wanted to get on the boat but was repeatedly entangled by the giant alligator, unable to break free.
The alligator moved swiftly underwater, fixating on Bella as its target, ignoring the assault boat on the surface and circling her relentlessly.
After circling twice, the massive creature suddenly lunged forward. As Bella dodged to the right, the alligator’s mouth opened wide, and an ice spear shot straight at her face.
Damn it! The beast even had some kind of magical ability!
Directly above Bella was the assault boat; she couldn’t dodge and had to counter with her ice beam.
The two similar energy forms collided underwater, creating a large, irregular cluster of ice shards, obstructing their view of each other.
For the less intelligent alligator, this was confusing. It carefully sensed the nearby water currents, its huge head swaying from side to side, its eyes, covered with a protective film, wide open, trying to locate Bella.
Suddenly, a thin line of ice struck its hind leg. It reacted quickly, turning to face the threat.
However, the difference in reaction speed between a three-meter and a six-meter crocodile was stark. A larger size was advantageous when hunting but became a disadvantage during an ambush!
Bella had already positioned herself to the side, and without regard to the energy consumed, her fingers continuously sparked with cold light.
The alligator was hit by three ice beams to its stomach, tail, and hind leg. It seemed that only its mouth could shoot ice arrows. The rest of its body couldn’t.
Casting spells consecutively, Black Widow felt a bit dizzy, but she seized the opportunity while the enemy’s movements were slow. She plunged her meat cleaver into the Crocodile King’s eye, stirring vigorously a few times, then thrust her right hand into its eye socket, using both arms to pry open the Crocodile King’s skull forcefully.
Murky blood filled her vision as she kicked twice, sensing that the Crocodile King had ceased showing signs of life, and then climbed, somewhat exhausted, onto the S.H.I.E.L.D. Hovercraft.
The idea of making a wallet from Crocodile King’s skin was just a fleeting thought; she lacked the craft skills and time for such a task.
“Quick! Let’s get out of here!” As more crocodiles swam up, Storm piloted the S.H.I.E.L.D. Hovercraft with superior skill and familiarity with the terrain, so Black Widow let her steer while she checked the middle-aged man’s injuries.
She had retrieved the bitten-off right leg and set it aside. Black Widow was uncertain of the extent to which modern medical technology had advanced. Still, given the severe damage to the amputation site, she guessed the chances of reattachment were slim.
The S.H.I.E.L.D. Hovercraft raced through the water, even rescuing another family along the way, making it to a nearby civilian shelter before the hurricane reached its peak.
Many injured people were evacuated, and although many residents witnessed the rampage of the crocodiles, they did so from a distance. Except for Storm and her father, who had been in gruesome close contact, the others were fatally bitten.
The police asked a few questions and then allowed medical personnel to treat Storm and her father.
A helicopter was to take the middle-aged man to a hospital in Atlantis for treatment; whether his leg could be saved was unknown. Storm decided to accompany him.
“Thank you for your help, thank you!” Storm said to her temporary ally, Black Widow, before boarding the plane.
“Take good care of your dad; he’s a great father.” During the middle-aged man’s unconscious state, Storm and Black Widow discussed their father-daughter conflicts.
The parents had divorced, leading to a cold relationship between father and daughter—a quite clichéd story.
Previously, the father and daughter were completely estranged, but after surviving such a catastrophe, their relationship was likely to improve significantly.
