Marvel's Princess - Chapter 66
The giant spiders looked fierce, but if one observed closely, they’d notice their movements were quite stiff. There could be many reasons for this, like not yet adapting to their new strength or perhaps some incomplete evolutionary glitch. Bella, not being a biologist, wasn’t interested in the specifics.
She was on a killing spree, while the giant spiders, driven by instinct, mindlessly lunged at her only to be slain one after another.
When only two spiders remained, they seemed to realize the might of this enemy. Their survival instinct overpowered their hunting urge, and they quickly retreated.
Like kangaroos, the two spiders jumped five meters high and ten meters far on the sand, disappearing after a few leaps.
Bella gracefully threw the steel rod, but without javelin training, her aim was way off.
Standing barefoot on the sand, her breath a bit unsteady, she realized just how disgusting these colorful giant spiders were now that the fight was over. The thought that she had killed all these spiders made her stomach churn.
“So fragile?” Natasha, unbothered, parked her motorcycle and studied a spider corpse.
“Oh—you’re scared of spiders?” Natasha teased, drawing out her words as if she’d made a great discovery.
Bella immediately denied it, “Scared? It’s just a normal reaction. Didn’t you feel uncomfortable?”
Natasha shook her head decisively, “Not at all.”
Of course, you wouldn’t be scared; you’re practically related to them. I’m not!
Bella conceded with a bow, admitting defeat.
They rested for a while as the boys on motorcycles cleaned up the battlefield.
The boys had initially wanted to run. While the giant spiders didn’t seem like much to Bella, their ferocious appearance had scared the boys so much that a few had wet their pants.
Some of the survivors had run several meters away but felt ashamed after seeing Bella come back to help. They returned to join the fight, adrenaline pumping.
They managed to kill one spider by ramming it with their motorcycles and rescued their friends, who were wrapped in silk cocoons.
Grateful for the rescue, the boys surrounded Natasha, showering her with compliments.
They also wanted to talk to Bella, but her grim expression discouraged them.
Bella, recalling elements of the situation—Natasha, the waste barrel, the lady sheriff—suddenly remembered the plot from a movie she’d seen. This seemed like a scene where a bunch of townsfolk fought spiders, though she couldn’t remember if the town was named Prosperity Town. Small towns like this were so common that even subtitle groups didn’t bother translating their names.
She hurriedly urged everyone back to the town.
Recalling the movie plot, she realized these spiders weren’t isolated incidents—there’d be more!
“You guys can bring back a corpse, right?” To explain things to the townsfolk, a spider corpse had to be brought back.
Though Natasha wasn’t afraid of spiders, she didn’t want to drag the giant creatures behind her motorcycle, leaving the job to the boys.
Despite their fear, a few boys, visibly wet in the crotch, bravely used steel cables from the gas station to tie two of the largest spider corpses to their motorcycles and dragged them back to Prosperity Town.
The giant spider corpses shocked the townsfolk. Natasha’s mother hurried back to discuss countermeasures with them, with Charlie offering his suggestions.
Bella, meanwhile, followed Natasha into her room to change clothes.
She needed to change everything—heels, skirt, necklace. It was a shame her meticulously prepared outfit was wasted.
“Your shoes are a bit tight!”
“Sis, that’s because your feet are big!”
“What’s with these clothes? Cartoon patterns are fine, but they’re torn and smell moldy?”
“These are my old clothes from childhood. They’re the only ones that fit your size.”
Natasha emphasized the size, and Bella raised a fist at her.
After killing over ten spiders and racing on the dusty roads, both girls felt incredibly uncomfortable.
Even a blink dislodged sand from their eyelashes, and their hair was sticky. It was ruining Bella’s mood.
Despite the looming spider threat, Bella decided to take a shower first, confident in her abilities.
Natasha’s bathroom was small, so they squeezed in together, making do with their little space.
Fifteen minutes later, they emerged wrapped in towels.
“Do you have any hydrating skincare stuff—whoa!” Habitually reaching for skincare products, Bella spotted two hairy spider legs climbing the window in her peripheral vision.
“These monsters followed us!” Bella stated the obvious.
“Stop talking and do something! It’s your fault for wasting time!” Natasha retorted.
They were now completely unarmed, clad only in towels.
“Do you have a gun here?”
“Of course not! My mom doesn’t let me near guns!”
Seeing the spider’s eight eyes reflecting their blurry images, Bella urgently searched the room.
She didn’t want to fight the spider barehanded—too gross!
What could she use as a weapon in Natasha’s room? Pepper spray? Useless! Scissors? Too short!
Things like chairs, handbags, and nail clippers weren’t weapons.
She suddenly spotted a standing fan by the desk. It was over a meter tall and had a metal stand and base.
Using the fan’s base to fend off the spider’s lunges twice, she felt more confident.
The towel was limiting her movement, so she needed Natasha’s help.
“Tie my towel tight. Don’t let it slip!”
Natasha, unable to fight in this situation, found Bella’s demand amusing.
“It’s just us here. What’s the big deal if it slips?”
“No way! I absolutely cannot have a psychological barrier! Help me now!”
Natasha hid behind Bella, tightly gripping the towel to prevent it from slipping.
They resembled kids playing tag, with the spider as the predator, Bella as the protector, and Natasha as the prey.
Bella kept hitting the spider with the fan base, careful to position herself to shield Natasha from its attacks.
