My Name Is Namikaze Naruto - Chapter 21
It’s not that they don’t understand the utility of the Multi Shadow Clone Jutsu.
It’s that their chakra reserves simply can’t support using this technique. Moreover, this jutsu demands extraordinary physical and mental endurance. Even if someone barely has enough chakra, the mental strain of releasing the jutsu would drive an average person mad. This is why it’s recorded in the Forbidden Scroll—it’s a forbidden technique in every sense!
Looking at the tangible shadow clones he created, Naruto nodded in satisfaction.
Succeeded on the first try.
Indeed, his talent for this jutsu was undeniable.
With a subtle thought, Naruto’s shadow clone nodded back.
With a swift movement, it vanished.
Even though there was still some time before Mizuki would arrive, Naruto dispatched the clone to monitor the surroundings, just in case.
After the shadow clone left, Naruto sat back down cross-legged.
In the remaining time, he didn’t plan to try any other jutsus, both to avoid detection and to maximize his use of time.
Every second counted in learning as many jutsus as possible, especially the Flying Thunder God Technique, which was one of his two main goals for the night. Other jutsus were secondary; the Multi Shadow Clone Jutsu and Flying Thunder God Technique were his main targets.
However, things rarely go as planned.
Naruto couldn’t find the Flying Thunder God Technique or the Reaper Death Seal no matter how much he searched through the scroll. The most frustrating part was that after flipping through about a fifth of the scroll, it wouldn’t budge, as if some force was blocking it, preventing him from seeing the rest of the Forbidden Scroll.
Naruto was stunned by this discovery. After trying various methods with no success, his expression turned grim.
“Damn it! So that’s why the old man didn’t use the Crystal Ball Jutsu to watch me and seemed so relaxed. He had a plan from the start! This must be some kind of sealing technique! I can’t see the rest of the jutsus, damn it!”
Naruto’s face alternated between red and blue as he gritted his teeth.
Being outsmarted felt terrible.
This wasn’t a setup exclusive to this timeline; it was likely something the Third Hokage had prepared in the original story as well. In the original series, Naruto only learned the Multi Shadow Clone Jutsu and didn’t try to see the rest, so this backup plan was never triggered.
But in this lifetime, Naruto was keen on learning the Flying Thunder God Technique and the Reaper Death Seal, running headfirst into the Third Hokage’s “wall,” leaving him feeling downcast.
“Damn, old man, I curse you to see nothing but a bunch of dinosaur aunties the next time you peep in the women’s bathhouse!”
Naruto couldn’t help but curse out loud.
If he didn’t, the frustration would kill him.
Since the old man wasn’t watching him with the Crystal Ball Jutsu right now, he could at least vent a little.
After a few muttered curses, Naruto reluctantly flipped back to the beginning of the scroll to see if there were other valuable jutsus besides the Multi Shadow Clone Jutsu. The jutsus recorded here were at least A-rank and among the most destructive. While they couldn’t compare to the forbidden and secret techniques Naruto wanted, it was better than leaving empty-handed.
Indeed, Naruto found a couple of highly practical jutsus that he could currently learn. One, in particular, caught his eye.
“Rasengan”
This A-rank jutsu, developed by his father, the Fourth Hokage Minato Namikaze, based on the Tailed Beast Bomb, was an unsealed technique and the original Naruto’s most powerful offensive weapon. From the beginning to the end of the original series, this jutsu, including its advanced forms like Big Ball Rasengan and Rasenshuriken, was Naruto’s most effective combat technique.
Naruto had planned to learn Rasengan from Kakashi later, but now he found it here. As an A-rank jutsu that required no hand signs and was noted for being incomplete with further development potential, it was naturally recorded in the Forbidden Scroll.
This made things easier for Naruto.
“The key is chakra control, right? Like creating a vortex?” Naruto murmured, his eyes narrowing as he read his father’s notes.
Though he didn’t clearly remember how the original Naruto trained for Rasengan, he vaguely recalled it involving water balloons and rubber balls.
With his father’s notes and some residual memories, Naruto understood how to train for Rasengan. It involved forming a vortex and compressing chakra to a point, creating immense destructive power.
“Looks like I need to adjust my training plan…”
As he thought this, focusing on the other jutsus, a sudden message appeared in his mind.
It was from the shadow clone he had sent out earlier. The clone had spotted the target and dispelled itself to relay the information.
Naruto was initially surprised, then smiled cunningly.
“Though it’s a bit earlier than expected since the actors are in place, it’s time to start the show. Better wrap this up and head back; I’ve got more training tomorrow…”
Naruto dusted off his clothes, secured the Forbidden Scroll, and leapt into the night.
