My Name Is Namikaze Naruto - Chapter 34
Being on the same team as Sasuke was already something.
But being on the same team as Naruto too!?
That’s just too lucky, right?
Really! It’s really!
Too much!!!
At this moment, the girls wanted to pounce on Sakura and vent their frustration and resentment.
Even Ino, who knew she was destined to team up with Shikamaru and Choji, was glaring at her former best friend, Sakura. As they say, in matters of “love,” the “friendship” between girls is very fragile.
Sitting not far away, Hinata Hyuga also showed an obvious expression of disappointment.
“So, I can’t be on the same team as Naruto-kun after all?”
The girl’s extremely low spirits, her hands intertwined, told the whole story.
Of course, Hinata didn’t know.
Her homeroom teacher, Iruka, had tried to see if he could place her and Naruto on the same team before graduation. Iruka had noticed Naruto’s unusual interest in Hinata over the past six years and had seen Hinata’s answers in a special class, prompting him to believe that putting them on the same team was a good idea.
However, this idea ultimately couldn’t come to fruition.
Not to mention the reaction from the Hyuga clan.
Naruto’s team assignment had already been directly ordered by the Third Hokage.
This made Iruka’s plan impossible, and he had to follow the predetermined plan, placing Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura on the same team.
This was something Iruka found a bit regrettable.
Meanwhile, the three members assigned to the same team each displayed different expressions.
As mentioned before, Sakura was purely and simply excited.
Teaming up with the two top students in their class, and most importantly, her beloved Sasuke, made Sakura’s feelings indescribable with mere words like “happy” or “joyful.” She struggled to contain her excitement, trying to maintain a ladylike demeanor.
On the other hand, Naruto remained calm because he already knew the outcome, so there was nothing surprising. An unexpected team assignment would have interested him more.
As for Sasuke, as mentioned before, he didn’t care who his teammates were as long as they didn’t hinder him. When Iruka announced the team members, Sasuke’s expression remained indifferent. He only slightly reacted upon hearing Naruto’s name due to Naruto’s impressive performance over the past six years, which had even posed a threat to Sasuke in a few training sessions.
As for Sakura.
She didn’t stir any emotion in Sasuke.
What mattered most to Sasuke was who their team leader would be, whether they were qualified to be his captain and whether they could guide him to become stronger. These were Sasuke’s primary concerns. It had been five years since the night of the Uchiha massacre, and Sasuke had spent almost every night in nightmares, often waking up in terror after dreaming of his parents being killed by his brother.
Five years!
It had been five years!
He finally graduated from the Academy.
Sasuke was desperate to become stronger, to catch up with that traitorous brother.
To find him!
To ask why!
And then kill him!
To avenge his parents and his clan.
This was Sasuke’s unwavering ambition, a goal that would remain until his death. The other goal was to revive the Uchiha clan, as he had once been the proud young master of the Uchiha, a clan regarded as the greatest in the ninja world. Sasuke was proud of this and planned to restore his clan’s glory.
So, compared to the trivial matter of teammates.
Sasuke cared more about who the team leader was!
Whether they were strong enough!
After announcing Team 7.
Next came Team 8, another team worth noting.
At least Naruto was interested.
Because this team included Hinata Hyuga.
The other two members.
We’re just like in the original series.
Kiba Inuzuka from the Inuzuka clan, and Shino Aburame from the Aburame clan.
While Naruto felt a bit regretful that he couldn’t be on the same team as Hinata, seeing that Kiba and Shino were still her teammates reassured him. Despite Kiba’s occasional bravado and carefree attitude, Naruto knew from both the original series and six years of interaction that Kiba was a genuine and straightforward person. Shino was just a bit stoic and had some communication difficulties (perhaps?).
Naruto was relieved to see that Hinata’s teammates were still Kiba and Shino, with no deviations from the original. According to this trend, Kurenai Yuhi would likely be their Jonin instructor, one of the rare female Jonin.
Moving past these two teams, the rest of the team members announced by Iruka, apart from the fixed Ino-Shika-Cho trio forming Team 10, were mostly insignificant characters with no roles in the original series.
It was almost certain that in this graduating class, only Teams 7, 8, and 10 would be led by Jonin, with the rest led by Chunin. The original series didn’t mention this explicitly, but it seemed likely based on Naruto’s judgment. Realistically, the remaining classmates didn’t have anyone special enough to warrant a Jonin leader sent by the Third Hokage.
After announcing the last team’s composition, Iruka reminded everyone of some important matters before leaving the classroom. Next, the supervising ninjas would meet their new Genin.
After Iruka left the classroom.
One by one, ninjas wearing the standard uniform for Chunin and above in the Leaf Village entered, calling out their assigned team numbers. The respective team members stood up and followed their leader out.
Although their uniforms were the same.
It was hard to tell who was a Chunin or Jonin.
But based on Naruto’s current sensing ability, these were all Chunin.
Their aura wasn’t particularly strong.
Having faced Mizuki, who had injected himself with adrenaline and fought fiercely, Naruto had enough judgment to tell.
Not precise, but close enough.
