Nagato in One Piece - Chapter 3
“Ptui!”
Bellamy spat out a mouthful of blood and instantly breathed more easily, recovering quickly.
Without hesitation, his legs turned into springs, and using his Devil Fruit powers, he shot forward like an arrow.
“Where do you think you’re going, punk? Acting tough in front of me!” Bellamy screamed, his bloodshot eyes fixed on the red-haired man ahead.
Nagato didn’t respond. He had spotted this ‘Hyena’ Bellamy from the air and thought he might have valuable information. He used The Shinra Tensei to save the fat man and slightly subdue Bellamy. However, without seeing a significant crime or necessary reason, Nagato didn’t take lives lightly, which led Bellamy to mistakenly believe Nagato was weak and retaliate in anger.
This world’s inhabitants, indeed have stronger bodies.
Nagato concluded and then unleashed a force five times stronger than before.
An invisible force struck Bellamy, halting his fist half a meter from Nagato, sending him flying back at an even faster speed, crashing into an old tavern a hundred meters away.
“Bellamy!”
Satchis shouted, cursed under his breath, and charged at Nagato with his large knife.
“Thud!”
Satchis was far weaker than Bellamy. Even with Nagato holding back, using only half the previous force, Satchis was still sent flying, spitting blood and unconscious.
“What kind of monster is this!”
“Bellamy… Satchis were defeated without him even moving a muscle!”
“What kind of Devil Fruit power is this? Who is this guy? There’s never been any news or bounty poster about him!”
In seconds, the previously fearsome duo lay defeated, leaving the onlookers both terrified and exhilarated, murmuring among themselves.
Nagato ignored their chatter, extending his right hand to pull Bellamy from the rubble using gravitational force.
“Where is this place? Which sea are we in?”
The surrounding crowd gasped, almost biting their tongues, exclaiming, “He beat up Bellamy just to ask where he is!”
Nagato was baffled by how quickly these people lined up to complain.
“This is Mock Town on Jaya Island, in the Grand Line,” the fat man Nagato saved answered as Bellamy, though still conscious, was too furious to speak.
Bellamy had been beaten down twice in just a few days, making him feel even more humiliated and angry. Had Nagato remembered the details better, he might have avoided this unnecessary fight.
Nagato was surprised to learn they were on Jaya Island since his next destination was Skypiea, which was right above Jaya.
Realizing who Bellamy was, Nagato continued, “Tell your people to bring me a world map, your sea charts, and a Log Pose.”
“You think…” Bellamy began to retort but stopped mid-sentence, seeing the strange calmness in Nagato’s eyes.
Nagato tossed him aside, waiting patiently.
Nagato’s overwhelming strength and mysterious background finally made Bellamy hesitant to act recklessly.
Injured and unable to move easily, Bellamy ordered one of his crewmates to fetch the requested items from their ship.
Nagato opened the map with the items in hand but found it much simpler than expected.
Even knowing this world’s vast and unknown seas, he didn’t expect the map to be so crude. Everything else was vague except for the clear divisions of the Red Line, the Grand Line, the New World, and the Four Seas. This level of simplicity suggested that even Jaya Island and Bellamy’s crew’s level couldn’t explain it alone, hinting at the influence of the World Government.
The eleven sea charts, however, were more detailed, documenting Bellamy’s journey from the North Blue to Jaya Island, which could be useful later.
Nagato also obtained the Log Pose. He didn’t ask Bellamy for a permanent Log Pose to their next destination on the Grand Line, knowing if Bellamy had one, he wouldn’t be stuck in Mock Town.
“One after another, you guys…”
As Nagato was about to leave, Bellamy suddenly raised his head, mocking Nagato, “First that Straw Hat kid, now you…”
Bellamy stuck out his tongue, glaring at Nagato, “You want to set sail? Ha! Look at what you took from me, maps, Log Pose… You know nothing about the sea!”
“Go ahead! Follow where the Log Pose points—up to the sky!” Bellamy pointed up.
“Then, die in the Knock Up Stream with that naive kid! Hahaha!”
Bellamy roared in laughter after his outburst.
“It’s sad to judge others and the world with your shallow vision, Bellamy,” Nagato stopped. “Progress comes from knowledge and experience. Stuck on this island, you’re already outdated. Mocking those you can’t understand only makes you more of a failure.”
“Shut up! You think you can lecture me?” Bellamy’s anger flared, his wounds and their power difference forgotten, as he charged with a punch.
“Even if you’re stronger, don’t think you can talk down to me! I’m ‘Hyena’ Bellamy!”
In his rage, Bellamy’s punch, though not using his Devil Fruit ability, seemed to carry a hint of Haki, making it feel more threatening.
“Don’t misunderstand, I’m not targeting you.”
But it was futile before Nagato. With the power of his Rinnegan, Bellamy was tightly bound, unable to move a muscle right in front of Nagato.
“I’m talking about everyone on this sea. Even that Straw Hat kid you mentioned, their sailing and challenges are meaningless games to me,” Nagato said calmly.
“This world has been on the wrong path for too long. Ordinary people yearn for peace, the underprivileged await salvation, yet those with extraordinary powers are selfish scoundrels and arrogant fools. The least harmful among them are a few who amuse themselves, doing nothing productive while leeching off the common people.”
Nagato began to rise into the air, Bellamy still bound below, looking up at Nagato’s gray eyes with ripples.
“If you lack the courage to challenge the world again, stay where you are. But take my advice, stop wasting your abilities on meaningless fights. Learn to live with your own hands, or it won’t be long before the power of the new era destroys you—body and soul.”
Nagato’s figure grew smaller in the sky, but his voice echoed down to Bellamy, Satchis, and everyone in the town.
“I will lead this change. The chaotic era you thrive in is coming to an end!”
