Nagato in One Piece - Chapter 34
“Fuffuffuffuffu…!”
After three seconds of abrupt silence, the people of Dressrosa were horrified to see the owner of the Donquixote Family reappear on the screen!
That maniacal, evil grin was like a cold splash of water, instantly extinguishing their anger and hatred.
In that moment, the titles of the “monster” of the New World, the Heavenly Demon of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, and the master of the Donquixote Family surfaced in their minds. As ordinary people, they couldn’t suppress their fear of someone standing at the top of this world!
“Well done, you scum!” Doflamingo’s face suddenly zoomed in, as if he were about to jump out of the screen, scaring many people into running away!
“You killed Sugar, destroyed our eight years of operations, and sent me a big gift from the sewers…” The Heavenly Demon’s grin widened, devoid of any warmth. “I’ve received enough surprises today! Do you really think this is all Violet’s doing? Don’t take me for a fool, you sewer rats!”
Two seconds later, Doflamingo leaned back into his sofa, and the camera revealed Trebol, Pica, Lao G, Gladius, Senor Pink, Machvise, and Dellinger—all seven powerful executives of the Donquixote Family standing behind him!
Although it seemed a few were missing, this Donquixote executive team was still enough to terrify ordinary people!
Seeing this, Nagato’s group nearly fell into disarray.
Somewhere within the barrier.
Blueno: “The mission was half-completed. Is this success~? Oh, or is it failure? I might as well commit seppuku!”
Violet: “Doflamingo…”
She covered her mouth in fear, unable to say more.
Kalifa: “The other side has enhanced their security and changed their encryption. We can’t regain the signal temporarily. More importantly, Doflamingo is unharmed. The operation…”
Unaware of Nagato’s situation, she couldn’t help feeling fear and anxiety.
Corrida Colosseum ruins.
“Hahaha! Doffy!” Hearing Doflamingo’s voice, Diamante, who had been on the brink of defeat, seemed to receive a dose of adrenaline, temporarily pushing back Kyros and shouting in excitement.
“He’s not dead? That’s unexpected!” Jabura jumped to a higher vantage point, looking at the almost intact Donquixote crew on the screen.
Despite his rude words, his face looked grim, and his eyes couldn’t hide their flicker of fear.
Lucci, Kaku, and Blueno also wore serious expressions.
Nagato’s earlier attack had been far more powerful than they had imagined, but the stronger the attack, the more fear they now felt!
If even such a terrifying strike couldn’t kill Doflamingo, could they really survive against him?
“Nagato…” Law also felt a chill, his thoughts almost paralyzed with negativity as he tried to discuss strategies with Nagato.
He was nearly losing hope!
“Stay calm.” Seeing them nearly losing their composure, Nagato said.
After bringing them back to their senses, Nagato continued, “Doflamingo is still just a man.”
Nagato’s voice was always calm, neither deep nor high-pitched, but the underlying peace and determination were enough to invigorate Law and the others.
“Indeed.” Law’s face showed his same smile when he first spoke with Nagato—crazed yet calm, bold yet relaxed. Once he calmed down, it wasn’t hard to analyze, “Even an Emperor wouldn’t come out of that unscathed.”
Jabura, feeling insulted, grumbled, “So those bastards were just acting tough in front of me?”
Kaku coolly suggested another possibility, “He might have recovered, but everything comes with a price.”
Finally, Lucci swept away all these useless speculations with a bloodthirsty grin: “It’s just a fight to the death, as originally planned!”
Their hearts steadied.
After dispelling the shadow of fear cast by Doflamingo’s reputation, Nagato, seeming to find it untimely, instructed, “Since Doflamingo has shown himself, we can’t waste time. First, let’s deal with Diamante.”
It might seem unprincipled to turn around and gang up on one of Doflamingo’s executives after speaking ill of him, but for these four, who weren’t exactly principled to begin with—Law with his blood feud, and the ruthless CP9 members—it was nothing. Without hesitation, they attacked Diamante.
Surprisingly, Kyros was more anxious than Diamante, shouting, “Law! And the one who saved the thousands of people here, please let me deal with him!”
Nagato didn’t respond because he didn’t want to waste energy. He was still standing, quickly recovering his chakra, not even sparing the effort to answer Kyros.
But the four attacking Diamante answered on his behalf.
“Sorry, gladiator.” Law opened his ROOM, slicing Diamante into two with an aerial slash. Though Diamante cursed, unbothered Law told Kyros, “This isn’t a one-on-one duel.”
Kaku and Jabura sprang from behind Kyros, slashing and clawing at Diamante. “When Doflamingo appears, the war begins.”
Despite Kyros’s frontal assault, Diamante struggled to defend against Kaku and Jabura, but this left him utterly exhausted.
At this moment, a dark figure leapt behind Diamante. The towering, muscular leopard man unleashed a barrage of finger pistols: “This life-and-death battle is called—”
“Justice!”
With Kyros attacking from the front and Lucci from behind, they finally defeated Diamante, the most despised member of the Donquixote family, for killing Kyros’s wife. Diamante fell in a shower of blood.
Despite avenging his wife’s death, Kyros didn’t feel the cathartic release of vengeance but rather a sense of confusion.
“Hey, gladiator.” Law approached, frowning slightly as he snapped Kyros out of it. “You’re not stuck in the silly notion that you must personally avenge yourself, are you?”
Jabura spat dismissively while Kaku calmly added, “Diamante might be strong, but compared to the real enemy, he’s just a small fry.”
“No.” Kyros, being pragmatic, replied to Law. Gripping his sword tighter, he resolutely said, “I understand. The true source of evil is Doflamingo!”
He looked up at the palace on the royal plateau: “Only by killing him can we end the eight-year tragedy of Dressrosa! For that, my grudge is insignificant!”
“Heh… heh heh!” The fallen Diamante, still alive, laughed coldly, spitting blood before speaking, “You think you can challenge Doflamingo? That’s laughable!”
The four turned their gazes to the pitiful Diamante on the ground as he continued, “You scum, Doflamingo is on a different level. The difference is like heaven and earth!”
“Even if Doflamingo is one of the Seven Warlords, you’re just a pirate…” Lucci approached slowly, stepping on Diamante’s face with his shoe, glaring down at him, “Don’t get too cocky.”
“Hah… hahaha!” Diamante, his face under Lucci’s shoe, laughed more wildly. “Look at you! CP9 brat. Avoiding Doflamingo but showing off in front of me!”
Lucci’s face darkened, but he couldn’t refute it. He was arrogant, never bowing to anyone, but occasional retreat was a rational choice because he believed he could defeat anyone—just not yet.
Misunderstanding Lucci’s restraint and ambition, Diamante laughed maliciously: “But you’re lucky. Although you don’t understand Doflamingo’s true power and secrets, at least you’ve learned fear and to kneel before a true king!”
“Hey, hey!” Law interrupted, unable to bear it any longer. “You’re exaggerating, Diamante. Or have you been in Donquixote so long that you’ve finally lost the last of your brains?”
“Law, you traitor! Doflamingo trusted and valued you!” Diamante cursed Law before gloating, “But you betrayed too soon and missed Doflamingo’s past. He’s a madman born from chaos, a destiny of rage, making him the unbreakable ‘Heavenly Demon’!”
As the four pondered silently, a voice broke the silence.
“Alright, I know a bit about the Celestial Dragons.” Nagato approached, standing before Diamante. “But all so-called ‘gods’ are just lies to fool people. Doflamingo, in the end, is just a man.”
“You…” Seeing Nagato approach, Diamante realized this was the one who had blasted Doflamingo into the sky. The mention of “Celestial Dragons” shocked him even more!
“Celestial Dragons?” Law was startled, asking, “What’s going on, Nagato?”
“Doflamingo was once a Celestial Dragon, but it doesn’t matter to us,” Nagato replied casually, then added, “Since he’s not dead, let’s take his heart.”
Hearing Nagato’s explanation, Law didn’t pursue further. After all, being from the Worst Generation, such titles didn’t faze him. Following Nagato’s order, he opened his ROOM and extracted Diamante’s heart.
Nagato took the heart, and they turned their attention back to the screen showing Doflamingo.
