Nagato in One Piece - Chapter 35
“How did you learn the secrets of this country, and where did you find the courage to challenge me…”
In the image, Doflamingo, surrounded by his executives, grinned and said, “I don’t care to know—I have no time to waste figuring out the origins of you insects!”
“But one thing is very important,” Doflamingo said, pressing two fingers to his temple and smiling as if toying with ants. “And that’s that there’s a price to be paid for insects challenging a dragon…”
Doflamingo finally burst into laughter: “You dared to provoke me, congratulations on earning the chance to be personally shredded by me! And what is your goal? Saving the toys, challenging Donquixote… trying to save this country?”
“Fuffuffuffuffu… Although it’s laughable, I’d love to let you try to become the heroes of this country!”
As Doflamingo spoke, the sky over Dressrosa began to change—a series of threads formed an arc. They shot out from high above, piercing the ground, dividing the sky and the outside world into sections, encasing Dressrosa like a birdcage!
Such a large-scale change immediately caught people’s attention, but soon they would be even more terrified.
“People of Dressrosa, do not misunderstand, I am not angry with you, this is just a little game I’m playing with those insects who attacked me.”
On the screen, Doflamingo’s face was both loathsome and terrifying: “Now, the entire country is within my ‘Birdcage’, no one can leave, and no signal can reach the outside world. You will die one by one, while those outside will remain unaware.”
Parasitic threads also descended with the birdcage, causing people in the streets to lose control of their actions.
“Those who suddenly start rioting around you will kill continuously, regardless of whether it’s family or friends!”
People had completely believed in the tragedy of the Riku royal family.
“Even if you want to run or hide, there’s no safe place in the ‘Birdcage’.”
All their hatred for Doflamingo had reached its peak when he suddenly said: “This terror will last until you all die, unless you end this game faster!”
“Game? What damned game, Doflamingo, you inhumane beast!”
“I don’t care about that, just tell us how to end all this!”
…
The people of Dressrosa screamed, yelled, and struggled helplessly; it was like hell on earth, making Violet cover her mouth and weep uncontrollably: “Challenging Doflamingo… was I right? I should have known his terror, then this tragedy wouldn’t have happened. Please stop…”
Doflamingo’s face reappeared on the screen: “And that is to make those insects step out and kill them. That will stop the ‘Birdcage’.”
Everyone was stunned, their minds in turmoil, their consciences under severe interrogation: “If we kill those who exposed Donquixote’s conspiracy, will we be saved?”
They realized Doflamingo’s evil intentions!
“Once again,” Doflamingo continued, “Dear citizens, I am not angry with you, this is a personal vendetta between me and those rats.”
“So!” Doflamingo’s voice rose, “It’s simple and clear, kill them, solve the bastards who offended me, and I’ll have no quarrel with you. I’ll hand Dressrosa back to your Princess Violet. But if you disappoint me, or if those ‘heroes’ don’t step forward, then I’m sorry, fuffuffuffuffu…!”
The entire kingdom fell silent, with only Doflamingo’s rampant laughter echoing.
“Of course, you can also try to take my head, kill me, and the ‘Birdcage’ will naturally end! So, will you raise your blades against the ‘heroes’, or challenge my Donquixote? Decide, citizens! Fuffuffuffuffu…!”
This final word sounded like the starting gun for the “game” Doflamingo’s evil nature had created, driving the kingdom into madness!
“Challenging Donquixote… but they’re monsters!”
“So should we ungratefully raise our blades against those who revealed the truth to us?”
“I… I just don’t want to die…”
“Don’t talk so nobly, if it weren’t for them, nothing would have happened!”
“You bastard, don’t forget our relatives and friends were turned into toys!”
“Even if it betrays the trust of those heroes, for my daughter’s sake, I have no choice!”
…
Corrida Colosseum ruins.
“How vile and evil must one be to commit such inhumane acts!” Kyros raged.
Already, people had begun to come to the ruins, suspecting and attacking Nagato’s group, including the gradually waking spectators. The number of attackers was increasing, and Nagato’s group was merely evading.
“Nagato, this is bad,” Law said after dodging another attack and jumping to Nagato’s side. “We must confront Doflamingo!”
After a moment of silence, just as Law was growing impatient and the CP9 were puzzled, Nagato spoke: “Exactly what I intended.”
Before Kyros, Law, Lucci, Kaku, Jabura, and Blueno could react, Nagato lifted them all, along with Diamante’s two halves, and flew into the air, quickly escaping the attacking Dressrosa citizens.
“It will take some time to fully recover my strength,” Nagato explained as he flew towards the royal plateau, “But now, we can deal with Doflamingo.”
Law and the others were still unsure of Nagato’s full capabilities and situation and secretly worried if he had truly recovered. However, Nagato was their only hope against Doflamingo, and having come this far, they could only trust him and follow his lead.
In truth, their concerns were not unfounded. Nagato’s chakra had only recovered to about fifty percent. However, this was still a vast amount compared to other ninjas and enough for him to continuously use the Rinnegan.
More importantly, Nagato had always been prepared for the formidable physiques of this world’s strongmen. His planned trump card was never Shinra Tensei; everything was within his calculations.
Soon, Nagato, with the six others and Diamante, arrived above the royal plateau and saw Doflamingo in the garden below!
“Dof!”
“Doflamingo!”
Before the main figures spoke, Diamante and Kyros shouted excitedly. One was calling for help, the other seeking revenge.
Bang!
A piece of rock rose from the ground, blocking Kyros’s downward slash. It was Pica, the highest executive of the Donquixote Special Forces. Previously sent by Doflamingo to find Violet, he had returned after the recent upheaval and Doflamingo’s summons.
“Kyros? Getting excited, aren’t you asking me to be your opponent?” Doflamingo laughed from behind the rock. “Fuffuffuffu… Don’t get your rank wrong, little man!”
“End the ‘Birdcage,’ Doflamingo,” Nagato said from the air.
“Hmm?” Hearing this calm but commanding voice, Doflamingo’s expression instantly darkened. He looked up and locked eyes with Nagato, his anger flaring. “So, it’s you? The trash who dared challenge me and hurt my dear family?”
Before Nagato could reply, Doflamingo recognized those eyes, recalling a newspaper article he had seen a month ago.
“Fuffuffuffu…! So, it’s you, the lucky bastard who flaunted gold like an idiot!”
Doflamingo’s anger surged, knowing that this fool who had attracted his ridicule with his golden flaunt was now causing him unrest and infuriating him!
A sudden Overheat shot out!
