Nagato in One Piece - Chapter 47
On the deck of the Sunny, Robin, Nami, Usopp, and Chopper were all stunned into silence after reading the news.
“I can’t believe that guy… is so powerful!” It was Usopp who broke the silence, though his face was still stiff with fear.
Nami was the next to speak, “The newspaper says he led this Dressrosa operation. Was he with the government all along?”
“No,” Robin shook her head. “This operation involved CP9, who were declared criminals after failing at Enies Lobby. They should have been ordered to be captured, but the newspaper claims this was a long-prepared government plan. It’s contradictory.”
Robin continued her analysis, “Also, even though the paper says Mr. Nagato led this government operation, it doesn’t mention anything about his background or previous government positions.”
“So, the government is covering up the truth and fabricating the news. Just like…” As Nami spoke, she realized, “Alabasta!”
Robin nodded, and Usopp repeatedly agreed while Chopper, eyes swirling, muttered, “But he’s still so scary…”
“Yohohoho~” Brook, the newly joined skeleton crew member, laughed. “Though I don’t know this gentleman, will he be our enemy too? Another Warlord of the Sea!”
Franky, standing behind, adjusted his sunglasses and said, “Is it this guy? The one who, in a way, gave me my Devil Fruit powers!”
“Ah—” At this moment, Sanji walked over, exhaling smoke rings, and said seriously, “Every time I see this face, my stomach still aches.”
He pressed his left hand to his stomach, but despite his words, a smile tugged at his lips, and his face was full of fighting spirit.
“This guy isn’t like any we’ve encountered before!” Zoro crossed his arms and said, but contrary to his words, his eyes were fierce. “But if he dares block my path to becoming the world’s greatest swordsman, I’ll cut him in half!”
“Exactly.”
The last one to speak was Luffy. Since he liked to sit at the bow and wasn’t interested in news, he only joined the conversation when everyone gathered together.
Stretching his right arm to snap back into place, Luffy stood on the ship’s railing, punching his left palm with his fist, and said, “About the Golden Bell incident, next time we meet, I’ll send him flying!”
After the adventure on Skypiea, they fought at Enies Lobby and grew significantly stronger. Recently, they defeated another Warlord of the Sea, “Moonlight” Moria, and even took down the legendary pirate from the previous era, “Golden Lion” Shiki. The whole crew was brimming with confidence to overcome any enemy!
…
The entire world was shaken by Nagato’s sparked Dressrosa incident, and some were eager to challenge him, the new Warlord of the Sea, to avenge past grievances. Meanwhile, in the royal palace, Nagato was unaware and too busy to care.
The transponder snail on his desk rang, and Nagato answered it. The snail immediately conveyed, “Mr. Nagato, I’ve seen today’s news. It seems your plan was a great success!”
The voice on the other end belonged to Hanks, Nagato’s first recruited subordinate, who had been handling affairs in Water 7 for him.
Though Hanks didn’t sound overly excited, the enthusiasm in his voice was evident, as the news had covered a world-shaking event, confirming his choice as the right one.
“Hanks.” Recognizing the voice, Nagato replied, “I was just about to contact you.”
“Yes! The ten warships you requested are ready.” The snail’s expression turned serious. “What are your new orders?”
Nagato said, “Don’t get too excited. The country I mentioned isn’t Dressrosa.”
“Ah?” Hanks sounded puzzled.
Nagato didn’t elaborate further, continuing, “Dressrosa is merely an island. The next step is to establish a true nation! The ten ships are for this phase. According to my plan, this action must remain hidden from the World Government, so you will have a new mission.”
After reading the news, Hanks wondered about this. Since Nagato had already taken Dressrosa, wasn’t the objective of conquering a country already achieved? He felt a bit uneasy since the ten warships under his command hadn’t been used. Thus, hearing new instructions from Nagato, he felt reassured despite his confusion, responding, “Yes, sir. What do you need?”
Nagato instructed, “Take the ships to Sabaody Archipelago for coating, then bring them to Dressrosa from the sea bottom.”
“…” Hanks considered this. After a few seconds of silence, he said, “Understood!”
Hanks’ quick agreement surprised Nagato.
Nagato’s request for a secret operation meant sailing openly from Water 7 to Sabaody Archipelago, then coating and traveling underwater. Hanks had hesitated, considering this challenge.
Sensing Nagato’s doubts, Hanks added, “I’ll hire people to disguise the ten ships as different vessels for various purposes, sending them out separately while bribing the local Navy to cover the route from Water 7 to Sabaody Archipelago.”
“Hmm…” Nagato pondered, not fully convinced.
“This task is significant, and I can’t handle it alone. I’d like to request the help of CP9 agents mentioned in the newspaper to ensure everything goes smoothly.” Hanks proposed.
Nagato’s snail showed a satisfied expression, saying, “Fine, take all seven agents and bring the ships. Be safe. I need you intact to help manage Dressrosa’s finances when you arrive!”
Entrusting CP9 to Hanks was a significant show of trust. His words of care and promise further solidified Hanks’ loyalty.
Hanks moved and responded, “Yes, I’ll bring myself and the ten ships to you as soon as possible!”
After hanging up, Nagato faced the next issue: the underground trading port and the black market dealings Doflamingo handled as JOKER.
While Nagato contemplated this, deep in the New World, on the territory of the so-called world’s strongest creature, one of the Four Emperors.
“That clown’s dead, which means our plans for an all-Devil Fruit user crew are ruined?”
“Waaah!” A man with a sake gourd wailed, tears streaming down. “He promised we could build the strongest pirate crew of all Devil Fruit users! Waaah—!”
“A dream crushed by a nobody.” The man took a swig from the gourd, saying, “Poor clown, it’s all because you were too weak!”
The man cried and laughed erratically while the minions around him were terrified, not daring to move.
Then, among the crowd, a burly man who resembled him stepped forward, saying, “That clown’s dead, but the one who ruined our dreams must pay. I’m taking my men to set out.”
“Good!” The man took another deep drink, slamming the gourd down, and shouted, “Go! Destroy the clown’s country and bring me that guy’s head! JACK!!!”
“Yes, Kaido-sama!”
