Nagato in One Piece - Chapter 49
The colossal tengu spirit appeared out of nowhere, with one backward step stirring the ocean and capsizing the ship. It drew its sword and, with a single slash, sent Jack flying. This giant, towering figure was the pinnacle of the Sharingan’s power—Perfect Susanoo.
Four days ago, Nagato had killed Doflamingo, but the final close-quarters encounter exposed his greatest weakness when facing the world’s top fighters—his physical strength and martial skills. This served as a warning to Nagato.
Ascending to the level of the true Six Paths Sage could solve this issue, but the path to Bloodline Limits is not an overnight journey. Thus, Nagato had to find another way, which was to utilize his Rinnegan’s abilities.
Initially, Nagato did not plan to take this path. Just like Lucci’s evaluation of Haki, Nagato viewed the Rinnegan similarly. It was merely a power amplifier, not the power itself; the true strength lay in the Bloodline Limits.
But given the circumstances, he had to adapt. So, he thought of using Susanoo’s absolute defense to cover his weaknesses.
Typically, the Rinnegan and Sharingan cannot transform into each other, just as Hagoromo ?tsutsuki didn’t have the Sharingan and Indra didn’t have the Rinnegan. However, Nagato’s eyes were obtained from Madara Uchiha. Madara, having both the Sage’s eyes and body, caused his eyes to evolve into the Rinnegan. In other words, these eyes were both Rinnegan and Sharingan.
If someone else had obtained these eyes, switching between the two eye techniques and fully controlling them would still be impossible. Before Kakashi, no outsider had successfully transplanted and used even a tomoe Sharingan.
But Nagato wasn’t a simple non-Uchiha. He was also a descendant of the Six Paths. The Uzumaki clan’s physique, combined with these eyes, meant he had both Sage’s eyes and body, similar to Madara, and thus could freely control both eyes.
In just three days, Nagato had harnessed the power of the Sharingan, enabling him to use the ultimate technique and switch between the two eye techniques at will!
As the waves calmed, a few of the Beast Pirates swam out from under the capsized ship, gasping for air. Nagato ignored these minor characters. With his visual prowess, the Susanoo dived into the sea.
The Susanoo plunged into the ocean, its currents disorienting the surrounding fish. Within the Susanoo, Nagato had ample air. Observing the direction in which Jack fell, he quickly spotted the Drought and rushed toward him.
Jack was undoubtedly stronger than Doflamingo, but his arrogance and underestimation of his opponent cost him. Attacking Nagato, who had complete air supremacy, on the sea and not even using his Devil Fruit transformation, led to his downfall into the ocean with just one strike.
Being a half-fishman, Jack could breathe underwater, but as a Devil Fruit user, he was rendered powerless in the water. Thus, he could only lie at the sea bottom, helpless.
“Damn this bastard…” Jack cursed as the Susanoo approached him, “What kind of power is this? Intelligence didn’t mention it! Could it be one of the so-called ‘Six Paths’? Damn it! Is there really a Devil Fruit with six abilities?!”
The Susanoo quickly reached Jack. Given Jack’s refusal to listen earlier, Nagato decided to communicate in Jack’s manner. The Susanoo’s massive foot pinned Jack down, exposing only his head. Standing within the jewel on Susanoo’s forehead, Nagato looked down and said, “This is your last chance. Use a transponder snail to contact Kaido and have him speak with me.”
“You brat!” Jack’s eyes were filled with rage and murder, glaring at Nagato. “You’re courting death!”
“Stubborn fool.”
The Susanoo’s foot pressed down, causing Jack’s head to jerk back, spewing blood!
Under the sea, Jack’s Haki, Devil Fruit transformation…all his powers were unusable.
With Nagato’s force, Jack’s bones shattered, his organs ruptured, and he was left half-dead!
Nagato said it was his last chance, but the Susanoo still held back a bit, waiting to see Jack’s reaction.
But the brute, showing no signs of repentance, continued to glare at Nagato bloodthirstily.
Nagato activated his ocular power, ready to crush Jack, when suddenly a voice called out urgently, “Wait, wait! Please, spare him!”
Nagato turned to see another fishman, clearly one of Jack’s subordinates from the ship. Trembling with fear, the fishman stammered, “M-Master, I-I can get Lord Jack’s transponder snail from the ship to contact Lord Kaido!”
“Useless scum, get lost!” Before Nagato could respond, Jack roared at the fishman, “Begging for mercy from this bastard? I’ll kill you!”
Jack’s mindless rage made Nagato question the wisdom of negotiating with Kaido, but he signaled the fishman to retrieve the snail.
Nagato wanted to continue the SMILE plan not out of a desire for artificial Devil Fruits but to use it as leverage for cooperation with Kaido.
It wasn’t that Nagato feared Kaido, but his next plan was immensely significant and difficult, bound to make him a target. Leveraging Doflamingo’s legacy, he could placate one of the Four Emperors, significantly easing his burden.
“Trash! How could my ship have such useless subordinates?” Jack raged as the fishman swam towards the overturned ship. Under the Susanoo’s foot, Jack continued his furious rants.
“Wind Release: Vacuum Sphere.”
Jack’s hopelessness finally pushed Nagato to the edge. A sharp wind projectile shattered Jack’s mask, slicing into his mouth, turning it into a bloody mess, severing his tongue!
“Mm…mm!” Tongue cut, Jack’s fury burned, but he was immobile, only able to mumble in rage.
Seeing this, the fishman, who had returned with the transponder snail, was so terrified that he nearly dropped it, shaking uncontrollably in the water.
The once fearsome “Drought” Jack, known for his ten billion bounty and his tyrannical presence, was now underfoot, his tongue severed, unable to speak again!
The fishman and the distant pirates, who had previously taunted Nagato, felt as if the sky had fallen.
The Beast Pirates’ minions trembled in fear, knowing the dire fate awaiting them from Jack and Kaido. Even if they fled now, where could they hide in the New World ruled by the Four Emperors?
Ignoring the minions’ desperate terror, Nagato used his Rinnegan’s gravity to pull the transponder snail from the Fishman.
“Contact Kaido,” Nagato commanded the snail.
*Buru Buru Buru, Buru Buru Buru…*
Under the sea, Jack glared in fury, and the pirates watched in dead silence.
In the depths of the New World, the man known as the world’s strongest creature answered the snail.
“Hey! Jack! You’re too slow!” Kaido’s rough voice boomed through the transponder snail. “Haven’t you destroyed Dressrosa yet?”
“This isn’t Jack,” Nagato said, holding the snail. “He’s under my foot.”
“Hmm?” Kaido hesitated, then spoke in a low tone, “Who are you?”
“Nagato Uzumaki,” Nagato replied.
