Nagato in One Piece - Chapter 55

“Universal Pull,” Nagato said as he extended his hand, lifting Killer off the ground. Using the Human Path, he probed Killer’s memories, determined his crimes, and then tossed him to the Marines. “162 million.”

“Yes, Lord Nagato!” This time, the Marines did not hesitate. They saluted Nagato and quickly bound Killer with ropes and cuffs.

“That bastard…” Franky, who had been holding back, couldn’t take it any longer. He rushed at Nagato at full speed. “He’s treating us like bounties!”

“Strong Right!” Franky unleashed his full strength against Nagato, but his punch landed on Susanoo, producing a resounding bang.

“Franky,” Nagato said, taking two steps forward to the edge of Susanoo. “I saw you become a Rumble-Rumble Fruit user at Enies Lobby.”

“But attacking me so recklessly,” Nagato reached out from Susanoo, “didn’t your comrades tell you what happened to the last person with lightning powers?”

Nagato’s words were cut short as his hand, about to grab Franky’s neck, hesitated.

Because there, Franky had turned into a dazzling bolt of lightning.

Voluntary elementalization!

“Of course I know!” Franky, now entirely transformed into lightning, shouted. “It’s because you effectively gave the SUPER invincible me this Devil Fruit that I didn’t strike earlier! A real man distinguishes between gratitude and grudge!”

The lightning around Franky intensified, the bright blue light alarming the surrounding Marines. Franky continued, “But for the sake of my beloved comrades, even someone like you, I can’t help but get angry!”

“Perverted Underpants Triangle Lightning!” Franky yelled, and a triangular bolt of lightning, shaped like underpants, shot from him towards Nagato inside Susanoo.

“What a pervert!”

The Marines stood in a row, glaring with wide eyes and sharp teeth, cursing in unison.

“Shut up! Even if you praise me like that, I won’t forgive you rotten Marines!” Franky retorted, twirling in the air, enjoying the backhanded compliments.

“Who’s praising you?!” the Marines shouted back angrily. “No one would use the Rumble-Rumble Fruit for such a stupid thing!”

After the commotion, Franky slowly descended from the air, his serious expression showing a hint of worry as he looked at Nagato. “I had to act for my comrades… but will this guy be alright?”

The answer was clear.

The light dissipated, and the giant cloaked in purple flames disappeared, but Nagato stood unscathed.

“Impressive control speed, Franky,” Nagato said, his Rinnegan gazing at him approvingly. “You’ve mastered the Rumble-Rumble Fruit to nearly Enel’s level in such a short time. Remarkable.”

Lightning had no effect on Nagato, boosting the Marines’ morale and further demoralizing the pirates.

The Kid Pirates, leaderless after losing their captains, sank further into despair.

Even the Straw Hat Pirates, who had seen Nagato absorb lightning before, looked grim.

“Perverted* Triangle…” Franky spread his arms, lightning flickering on his chest, preparing another move. But Nagato disappeared before he could act.

Franky was shocked, thinking Nagato was targeting his weaker comrades, but saw that his target was Luffy!

Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang…

Of course, Luffy was no pushover. Even with Nagato’s sudden attack, Luffy in Second Gear was almost matching him blow for blow.

“Luffy!” The Marines were stunned, while Nami smiled and cheered excitedly.

“Why do you want to defeat me so badly, Luffy?” Nagato asked as they exchanged rapid punches and kicks, moving constantly, even Sanji couldn’t get a chance to intervene.

After dodging a rubber bullet, Nagato punched Luffy in the stomach, though it had no effect due to Luffy’s rubber body. “Is it about the golden bell…”

Luffy, clashing fists and feet with Nagato, denied, “Maybe it’s more than that… but I just don’t like you!”

Bang!

Nagato’s palm struck Luffy’s stomach, sending him flying into the auction house. “Aside from strength, it seems your insight hasn’t grown much either.”

Standing straight, Nagato continued, “Still lost in the pursuit of freedom and romance without learning to see the world? I recall you have a few brothers who have seen life’s hardships.”

Boom!

A fist broke through the rubble, aiming at Nagato.

Nagato ducked, avoiding the rubber fist.

“Don’t mention them!” Luffy’s angry voice echoed. “And what right do you have to say that? Helping the Celestial Dragons, scum!”

Nagato caught Luffy’s retracting rubber arm by the wrist and nodded, “Indeed…”

Nagato pulled Luffy towards him, “But you saved your friend, and I have other reasons to find you.”

Despite being pulled forcefully, Luffy didn’t panic. He clenched his free left fist and used the momentum to punch Nagato’s face with double the speed and force.

Purple flames rose again, and an incomplete skeleton formed around Nagato, shattering but blocking Luffy’s punch.

“The most important thing…” Nagato’s left arm, disabled from the battle with Doflamingo, couldn’t fight, so he suddenly let go of Luffy’s arm, quickly grabbing his neck with his right hand. “I told you before, don’t make enemies of those you don’t understand!”

Luffy’s consciousness began to fade in Nagato’s grip. “Is it defeating Moria or supposedly taking down Shiki that gave you this confidence?”

“Last time on Sky Island…” Luffy was powerless from the Human Path’s strength. Another skeleton arm blocked Sanji’s kick. “You should’ve remembered my lesson.”

“You guys…” Franky turned into lightning to stab Nagato but was smashed into the ground with a blow to the head.

“The same applies,” Nagato said, using his ocular power to repel Sanji and the heavily injured Zoro, who had just emerged from the auction house.

The Straw Hat Pirates fared no better than Kid’s crew. Nagato had taken down all the Straw Hat’s main fighters in a short time.

Even without using Haki, which could have harmed Luffy and barely touching Franky, who had become a Logia user, Nagato subdued them all with his Rinnegan powers.

Nagato didn’t use any trump cards. The displayed abilities were not insurmountable for Luffy’s group. The Human Path needed stable contact and at least a breath’s time to work, making it ineffective in their high-speed fight.

Yet, the Straw Hat Pirates fell quickly because, as Nagato had warned them before, they underestimated him. Their rash challenge without understanding him led to their swift defeat.

Only a few Kid Pirates and the non-combatants of the Straw Hat crew remained, leaving them feeling utterly hopeless.

As Nagato turned to throw Luffy to the Marines like he did with Kid and Killer, a sudden gust of wind approached.

But it wasn’t wind!

Bang!

A figure moved so fast it seemed like a storm, kicking at Nagato’s head, but stopped mid-air by Nagato’s Heavenly Path power. The clash forced Nagato to step back, staggering sideways for the first time.

“Impressive, being the newly appointed Warlord of the Sea by the World Government,” the man said, taking a sip of alcohol and smiling. “A young face like this, it’s remarkable.”

Everyone turned in shock to see the man who had pushed Nagato back.

Wearing round glasses on his nose, with long, white hair and a beard, the elderly man was unbelievable in his appearance and footwear—simple flip-flops. Yet, he had arrived so suddenly and powerfully!

Nagato turned to him, uttering his name…

“Silvers Rayleigh.”
