Nagato in One Piece - Chapter 58
On Sabaody Archipelago’s Island #1, the battlefield was divided into three areas.
Kizaru was chasing the remnants of the Straw Hat Pirates and Kid Pirates, who had already run far.
Rayleigh was battling Sentomaru and the Pacifista, with the latter already out of commission, but Sentomaru was still fighting stubbornly.
Lastly, there was the standoff between Nagato and Kuma.
Of course, hundreds of marines also surrounded Rayleigh, but overall, in the area where Nagato and Kuma were, only the two of them were present, so there was no risk of a third party overhearing their conversation.
“I need to connect with Dragon,” Nagato said to Kuma.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Kuma’s expression didn’t change as he brought his ungloved right hand down towards Nagato.
“Shinra Tensei!” Nagato stood his ground, the immense repulsive force blocking the attack and pushing Kuma back.
Nagato, holding Luffy, said, “You’re a high-ranking officer in the Revolutionary Army. Denying it is pointless, Kuma.”
Kuma remained silent, sending another shockwave towards Nagato, which was again blocked by Shinra Tensei.
Nagato continued, “Dragon has kept his secrets well. Even my former CP9 agents have limited information, let alone any means of contact.”
As the shockwaves and repulsive force clashed, Nagato went on, “I need someone to connect me with him. I don’t know much about the Revolutionary Army, only that you and Emporio Ivankov are significant figures. But you’re under tight government surveillance, and Ivankov is in Impel Down, which makes it difficult.”
Seeing his shockwaves were ineffective, Kuma moved in close, attempting to strike Nagato with his paw, but was met with the full force of Susanoo’s four-armed giant, blocking the attack.
Susanoo quickly began to crumble under Kuma’s power, but Nagato’s eye techniques restored it just as fast. He said, “Fortunately, for certain reasons, I knew you were likely to appear on Sabaody Archipelago, so I’ve been waiting here for half a month.”
Finally, Susanoo couldn’t withstand Kuma’s strength and shattered. Nagato jumped back, facing Kuma from a distance, saying, “I’ve said my piece, now give me an answer, Kuma.”
“I’m afraid I can’t comply.” Nagato’s tone was calm, but Kuma’s was even colder, almost mechanical.
“I understand the Revolutionary Army’s difficulties, but my request is just for a single call.” As Nagato spoke, Kuma remained unresponsive. So Nagato lifted Luffy, saying, “I didn’t want to resort to this extreme method, but I have no choice.”
Nagato lost his combat ability but still functioned like a normal person. With his left hand, he removed Luffy’s hat and placed it on his own head. Suddenly, dense black patterns covered Luffy’s head, then quickly disappeared.
Nagato casually tossed Luffy to Kuma.
Nearby, Rayleigh’s battle with Sentomaru had ended. Sentomaru, unsurprisingly, had been defeated by the former right hand of the Pirate King, “Dark King” Rayleigh, and lay on the ground.
As Rayleigh ran over to retrieve Luffy from Kuma and Sentomaru began questioning him, Nagato said, “I’ve placed a seal called the Mind Control Seal on Luffy. I doubt anyone in this world can remove it. From now on, I can take his life at any moment.”
Kuma remained silent while Rayleigh’s face darkened, ready to act, but Nagato continued, “If you don’t want to give me the Den Den Mushi number, have him contact me himself—after the upcoming war. It shouldn’t be hard to find my number. Once it’s over, I will remove the seal.”
With that, Nagato soared into the sky, beyond the reach of Kuma and Rayleigh.
Soon, Nagato’s figure disappeared…
That day, chaos reigned on Sabaody Archipelago.
Following Monkey D. Luffy’s attack on a Celestial Dragon, which provoked a marine response, only the Fire Tank Pirates and Bonney Pirates managed to escape due to their captains’ preemptive measures and quick reactions.
All other Supernovas and their crews suffered devastating blows.
Among them, “Magician” Basil Hawkins, “Red Flag” X Drake, “Roar of the Sea” Scratchmen Apoo, and “Mad Monk” Urouge were quickly defeated by Admiral Kizaru. Fortunately for them, Kizaru left midway to pursue the main culprits of the Celestial Dragon incident, leaving them alive but severely injured.
As for the main culprits, “Surgeon of Death” Trafalgar Law was the only one to escape unscathed with his crew, thanks to special permission from Warlord “Rikud?” Nagato.
The rest of the pirates weren’t as lucky. The Straw Hat crew, directly implicated in the attack on the Celestial Dragon, were heavily injured during the pursuit by Kizaru and Nagato. However, they were saved by the sudden appearance of Rayleigh, who managed to delay the two high-ranking government fighters, but Warlord “Tyrant” Kuma still dealt with the Straw Hats and are currently missing.
The worst hit were the Kid Pirates. Both “Captain” Eustass Kid and “Massacre Soldier” Killer were captured by Nagato and sent to Impel Down by the marines. Other members of the Kid Pirates were either killed by Kizaru or surrendered and were also sent to Impel Down. Thus, the Kid Pirates were annihilated.
Due to the convergence of the seven routes of the Grand Line at Sabaody Archipelago, the eleven “Worst Generation” Supernovas gathered there were utterly crushed by the World Government and the marines. The eleven were either captured or fled in panic.
When the news spread worldwide the next day, the World Government’s authority and the marines’ might were reaffirmed. Pirates in the first half of the Grand Line were terrified into submission, with many abandoning their pirate endeavors. Ordinary citizens across various nations celebrated with feasts and joy…
Of course, this was insignificant to the world’s top figures, who barely paid attention. Even in the New World, pirates, marines, and civilians merely glanced at the news, not taking it to heart.
They’d merely remark, “Newbies in Paradise.”
The Supernovas’ trouble became mere dinner conversation, quickly fading away. Time would not pause for eleven rookies who had yet to make a significant mark.
Moreover, the World Government soon issued a far more shocking announcement to the world.
The catalyst for a great event was about to ignite…
Six days remained until the public execution of Portgas D. Ace.
