  3. Chapter 2 - The Strange Warehouse and Kuroro
Prev

Under the dark night sky, the fine snowflakes continued to fall.

It looked like there might be a heavy snowfall tonight.

Rin rubbed his ice-cold little hands vigorously and struggled to pull the tattered, barely-padded quilt over himself.

He tried to cover his thin body as much as possible to maintain warmth and survive.

Cold and hunger were Rin’s deepest feelings at the moment.

He didn’t know where this place was exactly, but it seemed like Japan. However, he couldn’t determine which era of Japan from his memories.

Maybe it was the Sengoku period of warring states in Japan?

Rin couldn’t be certain. The owner of this body was only six years old.

All he knew was his parents and this poor, dilapidated village.

In this place, being able to eat enough was a great blessing.

After all, even in his young memories, he had seen more than one dead body.

At this moment, Rin particularly missed his previous life.

At least in that era, no one would starve to death, and he had always enjoyed a life of luxury in the eyes of others.

Despite trying his best to wrap himself up, the weather was simply too cold.

Moreover, the falling snow melted and soaked the quilt, making his already weak body even more intolerable.

“If… if this continues… I might not survive the night…”

Rin muttered to himself, shivering.

His little face was blue from the cold. He looked up at the snowflakes falling through the holes in the roof, feeling speechless.

A house in this condition… is it really fit for living…

Thinking this, he shakily stood up with the quilt wrapped around him.

He stomped his feet to warm himself up and muttered through chattering teeth.

“Lavish meals in the mansions, bones freeze on the streets…. I must not become those frozen bones… I must not become those frozen bones…”

After regaining a bit of warmth, he started walking outside.

He had an idea in his mind.

No matter if he was scolded, he had to ask the neighboring villagers for some food.

If one house didn’t work, he’d try another. He couldn’t die in this snowy night.

At this moment, a strong will to survive grew in Rin’s heart.

However, when he used his icy little hands to pull open the tattered paper door,

What he saw made his eyes widen, unable to believe what he saw.

A large, sealed warehouse appeared before his eyes.

Despite the dim light inside,

He could still see the many figures of various shapes and sizes, covered by strange transparent shields.

Although they looked blurry from a distance,

He could naturally recognize those figures as the ones he had meticulously chosen and taken care of, which had accompanied him as he grew up.

Rin’s little face first lit up with joy, then his eyes dimmed, his voice trembling.

“No… it’s impossible to see them again…”

“Is it an illusion…”

He was slightly confused and closed the door, looking through the paper holes to see the traces of snow falling outside.

Yet, when he opened the door again, the sealed warehouse reappeared before him.

It seemed like two worlds separated by a single door.

Despite his confusion, Rin didn’t hesitate and walked straight into the warehouse.

As soon as he stepped inside,

A wave of warmth instantly permeated his body.

“Hmm!”

He no longer felt the previous cold!

It was as if he had moved from the peak of the Himalayas to the dry deserts of Taklamakan, making him involuntarily let out a comfortable sound.

Regaining his senses, he quickly looked around the warehouse.

It seemed enveloped in a layer of vague black mist, making it hard to see clearly.

Rin was still in shock, unable to comprehend the situation before him.

He didn’t understand how the burnt-down warehouse could appear here intact.

Moreover, it seemed somewhat different from before….

He unwrapped the tattered quilt from his body.

Rin walked forward slowly, his small figure looking strange in the large warehouse.

As he approached the standing figures and saw the scene before him,

His expression froze, staring in shock at everything.

Although the figures he had previously bought were high-end, even life-sized, they could never all be like this!

Before him, extending into the depths of the warehouse shrouded in black mist,

The surroundings were lined with lifelike real people!

If he didn’t know that these real people looked exactly like the figures he had bought, he would have thought he had entered a massive wax museum.

“What… what’s going on here…”

For the first time, Rin encountered such a situation, panicking and not knowing what to do.

He hurriedly walked deeper into the warehouse, the scenes he saw continually shocking him.

Two swords in hand, one clenched in his mouth, the ferocious Zoro; Luffy with his hat pressed down, covering his face; Saber, displaying the king’s resolve, standing guard; Gin Ichimaru with a smiling face; Neferpitou, wagging her tail happily; Ant King Meruem, sitting across a chessboard from Komugi!

Each scene stunned Rin’s mind.

Although these lifelike figures were all closed-eyed, he still felt an immense pressure.

It was like a fan suddenly meeting their idol, more than excitement, he was shocked.

However, he also noticed that these figures not only had their eyes closed but were also surrounded by a transparent shield emitting a faint glow.

“What are these….?”

The sizes of the shields around the lifelike figures varied.

Rin, puzzled, reached out, trying to touch one.

But he was blocked by the shield, as if hitting an invisible barrier, unable to touch them.

He sighed lightly, eyes showing a hint of regret.

This was a rare opportunity.

However, as he sighed, he noticed from the corner of his eye a figure not covered by a shield, making him happy!

He quickly ran to the figure, and seeing clearly, was stunned.

Kuroro Lucilfer, the leader of the Phantom Troupe in Hunter x Hunter, a strange and highly dangerous individual.

Sometimes childishly capricious, frustrated over things he couldn’t get.

Sometimes emotionless, chillingly calm, valuing fairness even over his own life.

His worldview was a bit twisted, being from Meteor City.

But overall, Haku liked him. After all, he was a leader who loved books.

Moreover, despite not being inherently powerful, Kuroro continuously developed his unique ability, Skill Hunter, becoming one of the strongest hunters.

Rin looked at Kuroro, who appeared to be resting with closed eyes.

Unable to resist the urge to touch a lifelike figure, he reached out and gently poked Kuroro.

He swore, it was just a gentle poke.

“Buzz—”

Suddenly, the world spun!

The already weak Rin felt his energy drained instantly, dizzy, his face turning pale!

Everything before him seemed to blur.

“Whoosh—”

Suddenly, a wave of intense cold made him shiver!

Forcing his eyes open, he realized the warm warehouse had disappeared.

Now, his thin body, clad in flimsy clothes, was exposed to the winter snow.

In front of him, in the snow, Kuroro, who had previously closed his eyes, was now looking at him calmly.

Seeing this, Rin’s eyes widened, unable to help but exclaim!

But his extremely weak body couldn’t handle the shock, and he fainted.

On the silver-gray snowy ground,

Kuroro caught the falling Rin, preventing him from hitting the snow.

As he held Rin, he frowned slightly.

His black and white eyes showed a hint of surprise, seemingly troubled by Rin’s condition.

Kuroro’s face showed little emotion.

He removed his black-purple coat, wrapping Rin’s thin body, standing shirtless in the snow.

Kuroro slightly raised his head, looking calmly at the dark sky.

Letting the heavy snow fall on the cross-shaped pattern on his forehead, he spoke softly, almost to himself.

“A part of the important calendar is missing, the forgotten month will be grandly mourned.”

“Under the performance of the mourning orchestra, the moon of the eleventh lunar month moves steadily.”

“Chrysanthemums and leaves wither and lie beside the blood-stained crimson eye.”

“Even if only half the companions remain, your superior position stands firm, enjoy this interlude, and seek new companions if you wish.”

“When departing, head east, you will surely meet those waiting for you.”

After murmuring, he stood in silence for a long time, then carried Rin and walked slowly into the snow.
