- Chapter 45 - Lessons Learned - Beware the Art of Persuasion!
Regaining her composure, Pakura noticed Naoki still standing silently, gritting her teeth. She leaped up and moved closer to him.
Approaching the bodies, she recognized the familiar faces of the fallen. Her body trembled, and she stepped back several paces.
They are from Sunagakure.
And it’s the Kazekage’s doing.
How could this happen?
A gentle breeze carried delicate raindrops, like needles piercing her face, embedding pain in her mind, causing her heart to clench.
This can’t be happening, Pakura. You can’t be this weak, and you’re a shinobi.
Pakura touched her face, muttering to herself.
I didn’t cry.
That means I don’t care about them, right?
It should be.
Her expression suddenly calmed, as if she had accepted reality.
But moments later, her face contorted with rage.
Grabbing her forehead protector, she pulled out a kunai and slashed a deep line across it, nearly cutting it in two.
Kazekage, Rasa, the higher-ups.
Pakura gritted her teeth, suppressing the urge to scream. Her fists pounded the ground, smashing stones to powder.
I will kill you all!
No matter what it takes, I will kill you all!
The stones shattered, and her bloody hands rose, brushing back her hair as she stood up, throwing the forehead protector to the ground.
Breathing heavily, she took a few steps forward, looking at her bleeding hands.
I can’t feel anything.
Is it because my heart hurts too much?
So, I’m still too weak.
How can I take revenge like this?
Pakura forced a fierce expression, trying to appear less vulnerable.
She lifted her head and took a few more steps.
At that moment, a gentle voice cut through the rain and reached her ears.
“Do you want to join our organization?”
“We can help you take revenge.”
Pakura stopped, looking at the masked figure.
“Revenge.”
“Help me kill the Kazekage?”
Naoki smiled.
“Of course.”
“A mere Kazekage.”
“A mere?”
Pakura repeated, nodding slightly.
With the terrifying Ice Release, Rasa couldn’t defeat this Ice Release ninja.
But against the entire Sunagakure…
“You’re not strong enough,” Pakura’s voice turned cold.
“Me? Indeed, I’m not.”
Naoki adjusted his mask, speaking slowly.
“In our organization, there are many like me.”
“Many?”
Pakura laughed coldly, clearly skeptical.
There are only so many powerful rogue ninjas from the major villages.
“If you don’t believe, there’s nothing I can do.”
“When you witness it with your own eyes in the future, you will believe.”
“After all, in a world filled with betrayal and deceit, there are many disillusioned shinobi like you.”
Naoki seemed disinterested in persuading Pakura, merely stating the facts.
Pakura’s mocking expression faded as she seriously looked at Naoki and then laughed.
“Perhaps.”
“But I’m not interested in knowing how strong your organization is.”
“I’ll take my own revenge.”
“There’s no need for your help!”
With that, Pakura turned to leave.
“Where will you go?”
Naoki’s voice rose, piercing Pakura’s ears.
“When Kazekage Rasa finds out that you, who should be dead, have disappeared, what do you think he will do?”
“He’ll do everything to smear your name and make you the traitor of Sunagakure!”
Pakura stopped, not turning around.
Naoki could see her back trembling slightly, showing she was not as calm as she appeared.
“Of course, I know.”
“That bastard will definitely do that.”
“But the world is vast. Why must I join your organization?”
Hearing this, Naoki felt his plan falling apart.
He had assumed the drive for revenge would make Pakura immediately join his organization.
But he was wrong.
The drive for revenge was likely strong.
But it was aimed in the wrong direction!
Pakura might not want more powerful ninjas involved in her revenge. It would make the whole process uncontrollable.
This unpredictability could spell disaster for Sunagakure!
And Pakura’s targets for revenge were just the higher-ups like Rasa who made the decisions!
Thoughts raced through Naoki’s mind.
He knew that the Scorch Release was proper in front of him. If he missed this chance, obtaining this Kekkei Genkai again would be much more complicated.
So, threats or temptations, whatever it takes.
For this Kekkei Genkai, he had to give his all.
Naoki lifted his head, smiling coldly.
“Is that so?”
“I originally planned to destroy Sunagakure while avenging shinobi like you.”
“Now, there’s no need to consider that.”
Pakura’s body stopped again, turning slowly, her face hinting at panic.
Her voice remained cold.
“Destroy Sunagakure?”
“I’m curious now.”
“What is your organization’s goal?”
“A goal?”
Naoki thought to himself.
Of course, it’s to do all the shady things for the future Mizukage Naoki, like looting, ambushing, intimidating, assassinating, forging, and kidnapping.
“It’s for world peace.”
Naoki’s voice grew serious.
Pakura chuckled, but her expression turned severe at Naoki’s following words.
“Destroying a few villages, uniting the world under one nation, changing the system, finding paths for shinobi other than war, establishing a new order.”
“This should bring some peace.”
“You’re really shameless.”
Pakura responded immediately.
A figure appeared in her mind.
A figure controlling ice mirrors spanning the sky.
For the sake of the village, I must stop these madmen.
Pakura shook her head, earnestly advising.
“Unless someone can match the power of the God of Shinobi.”
“Otherwise, uniting the ninja world is a fantasy.”
“Without enough mid and low-level ninjas, establishing a new order is meaningless.”
“Your organization should abandon these fantasies.”
Naoki’s lips curled with excitement.
“We haven’t tried yet, how do we know if we can’t succeed?”
“The road must be taken step by step.”
“First, eliminate the warmongering villages, then consider the new order. What’s wrong with that?”
“We originally planned to move slowly.”
“But this war has weakened all the villages.”
“Especially Sunagakure, which has fallen to an unworthy state.”
“Eradicating it first, announcing our organization’s strength, what’s wrong with that?”
Pakura frowned, clenching her fists.
These extremists.
I cannot let them succeed.
Even with Rasa’s corruption.
Sunagakure is still my home!
Pakura’s voice turned cold.
“If you’re destroying Sunagakure, how can I not be involved?”
“I choose to join you.”
