- Chapter 50 - The Outbreak of War, I Will Stand at the Pinnacle
“Naoki-sama, this is information from Kumogakure.”
“Naoki-sama, this is information from Iwagakure.”
“Naoki-sama, Sunagakure has re-blocked the roads, and our intelligence personnel have suffered losses. The situation is currently unclear.”
Naoki received them all and skimmed through each one.
Kirigakure brat, I’ll hold off Minato for you!
Kirigakure brat, push forward. I’ll keep Konoha’s forces occupied, signed Onoki.
Seeing the words Minato, the last of Naoki’s worries were eased.
Although Orochimaru was confident that Minato would not appear on the battlefield, what if he did?
Now, with the information from Kumogakure, he could finally relax.
Seeing Naoki’s gaze move away from the scroll, Mei spoke up.
“Naoki, your decisions have proven to be very foresighted.”
Then, looking at the dense scrolls, she sighed deeply, her admiration clear.
“Kumogakure and Iwagakure are using us to weaken Konoha’s strength.”
“But now that we can extricate ourselves from the quagmire of war, we don’t need to worry about that anymore.”
“Yes.”
Naoki put away the scroll and said calmly, “Mei, help me continue to analyze the intelligence. The war must go on.”
“Hmm?”
Mei immediately straightened up, looking puzzled.
“Naoki, say that again. I don’t think I heard you correctly.”
“You heard correctly.”
Naoki casually set aside an irrelevant intelligence scroll and loudly called to the ANBU outside, “Please summon the Seven Ninja Swordsmen.”
“Yes!”
An enthusiastic voice responded from outside the door, followed by a rushing wind.
“Naoki.”
Mei called softly, her tone filled with a hint of grievance.
“I worked so hard to convince the Seven Ninja Swordsmen to rally their subordinates after you left the camp yesterday, and now you suddenly want to do this again.”
“Mei.”
Naoki sighed, taking her tiny hand. This caused her face to flush and her heart to race, making it hard for her to hear what he was saying.
She only caught a few words after a long while.
“In short, the war must continue.”
Mei snapped out of her daze, nodded blankly, gently withdrew her hand, and took a deep breath.
Turning back to the intelligence, she thought that if he said the war must continue, the reasons don’t matter. I’ll just help him.
She pulled out several pre-prepared battle plans, suppressing her pounding heart, and handed them over.
“Naoki, take a look.”
“Mei.”
Naoki took them, glanced through a few, and immediately said, “This time, I’ll handle it.”
“Naoki.”
Mei earnestly advised when it came to such essential matters.
“It’s not that I don’t trust your brilliant mind.”
“But this war is truly too important.”
“Yes.”
Naoki sighed, wanting to argue but realizing he had no convincing reasons. Finally, he said helplessly.
“Trust me.”
“Then.”
“Alright.”
Mei nodded thoughtfully, took Naoki’s plan, and after seeing the meticulous arrangements, she breathed a sigh of relief.
Fortunately, he wasn’t being reckless.
Naoki’s voice brought her back to reality as she was thinking this.
“Mei, the Seven Ninja Swordsmen are here.”
“I will share all the plans with you.”
“Trust me, Kirigakure will win this time!”
Seeing Naoki’s serious expression, Mei nodded without hesitation.
The morning sun moved eastward, and the Seven Ninja Swordsmen, having received their orders, stepped out.
As they reached a secluded spot, Fuguki Suikazan suddenly spoke, drawing everyone’s attention.
“Do you think that brat can really win this battle?”
“Humph.”
Juzo Biwa chuckled, suppressing his amusement.
“What are you laughing at?”
Fuguki’s brows furrowed as he gripped his sword, his tone turning cold.
“I’m laughing at you, idiot.”
“If it were before, you wouldn’t even ask such a question.”
“Now, since you have hope in your heart, why not speak it out?”
“Think what you want, fool.”
Fuguki Suikazan cursed, swinging Samehada as he disappeared into the darkness.
Watching him, Juzo Biwa stopped smiling and grew as tense as Fuguki.
Naoki, do your best.
To win this war, Kirigakure needs some vitality.
The next day, as the sun rose like a signal to attack, shrouded in thin mist, Kirigakure’s ninjas set out.
“Naoki, are you going to that place?”
Mei asked, looking at the towering mountain in the center of the battlefield and recalling Naoki’s plan from the previous day.
“Of course.”
Naoki nodded.
“But are you sure Orochimaru will go there?”
Mei asked worriedly, thinking of the figure that almost drove her to despair.
“He will.”
“I’m absolutely certain.”
Seeing Naoki’s confident face, Mei was stunned again.
Can Naoki’s spies even extract such confidential information?
Who is he?
“Mei, I’m going.”
Mei snapped back to reality and gave one last piece of advice.
“The Shikotsumyaku might not be very advantageous there.”
“Mei.”
“You know.”
“I want to be Mizukage, and I need prestige.”
“So.”
Naoki looked up at the mountain.
“I will stand at the pinnacle.”
“And let everyone see me defeat Orochimaru!”
With those words, Naoki vanished from Mei’s sight.
After traveling for a while, he encountered the first Konoha squad, a group of Uchiha.
He silently drew his bones, ready to strike.
Leaves rustled as Kisame landed beside him, drawing his sharp sword.
“Naoki-sama.”
“If it’s a showdown between the commanders, it’s not fitting for our leader to dirty his hands before the battle starts.”
“Let me handle this.”
Seeing those red eyes across from him and Kisame’s serious expression, Naoki smiled and nodded.
Gracefully, he moved forward.
“Hand over the Byakugan!”
“Hand over Hizashi-sama!”
Juzo Biwa burst from the forest, directly confronting a group of Hyuga.
“Naoki-sama, leave it to me.”
Naoki nodded slightly and continued onward.
“Try this, Shikotsumyaku!”
A swarm of bugs formed a dense black curtain, closing in.
Boil Release: Skilled Mist Technique!
Mei rushed out, her gentle eyes meeting Naoki’s.
“Naoki, go ahead, I specialize in dealing with bugs.”
Naoki smiled and kept moving.
At the foot of the mountain, seeing the approaching ANBU, Naoki sighed and drew his bones.
Bloodshed is unavoidable.
Shikotsumyaku.
“Brother Naoki!”
Naoki stopped, turned around, and saw Kaguya Ryota wrapped in bandages.
Behind him were countless Kaguya clan members waving their bones.
“This time, it’s my turn to kill!”
With that, he raised his bones and shouted.
“Victory! Victory!”
The Kaguya clansmen’s chants ignited the battlefield, their voices surging like a tidal wave.
The sound shook, the wind howled, and leaves fell from the trees.
“Naoki-sama, kill those Konoha scum!”
“Naoki-sama!”
Amid the cheers, Naoki took a deep breath, bearing the gaze of thousands as he soared into the sky.
He would stand at the pinnacle and defeat Orochimaru!
