Naruto: Konoha Silver Wolf - Chapter 69
Chapter 69: Confrontation with the Den Leader
“Hmm?”
Just as Kakashi felt confident after killing the three Den ninjas, he sensed a sudden shift in the atmosphere. His body immediately tensed with alertness, activating his Sharingan.
“What…”
Upon activating his Sharingan, Kakashi turned to see a ninja standing on a tree branch behind him. The newcomer, wearing Den Village attire and a headband with a lightning bolt symbol, arrived without Kakashi noticing.
“The leader of Den Village? Kaede?”
Kakashi asked in a low, serious tone, recognising the man from his intel. Kaede’s appearance matched the description: young and handsome. The fact that Kaede had approached unnoticed meant his strength was at least equal to Kakashi’s, causing Kakashi’s heart to sink.
“As expected of a Leaf ANBU, you’re quite bold. To infiltrate my village and kill so many of my ninjas in such a short time!”
Kaede, the leader of Den Village, praised Kakashi, though his eyes burned with murderous intent and hidden fury. Losing four Chunins and four Genins significantly hindered their already limited numbers.
As Kaede spoke, an almost imperceptible wind swirled around him, causing his clothes to flutter making him look even more imposing.
Seeing this, Kakashi’s wariness only deepened.
“So it’s true, a wind-based kekkei genkai.”
Kakashi noticed Kaede manipulating wind without hand seals, which confirmed the leader’s wind attribute bloodline limit.
“Wind Release: Residual Wind Fall!”
Kaede attacked, uninterested in small talk and not giving Kakashi a chance to respond. He waved his hand, sending an invisible, fierce wind toward Kakashi. The wind tore through branches and leaves in its path.
Whoosh!
The attack was swift, reaching Kakashi instantly and striking where he stood.
Boom!
Kakashi barely evaded, and the spot where he had been standing exploded into a deep crater. His Sharingan analysed the power of Kaede’s wind release, noting it was no ordinary wind jutsu.
“For killing so many of my ninjas, you’ll join them in the afterlife!”
Kaede’s voice suddenly came from behind Kakashi, filled with malice.
Whoosh!
Kaede, now behind Kakashi, aimed a kunai at his back.
Thud!
But the stabbed Kakashi turned into a log. He had performed a substitution jutsu just in time, evading the attack.
“Impressive battle experience.”
Seeing Kakashi evade with a substitution jutsu, Kaede’s eyes flashed with surprise, followed by a cold smile.
“You’re not the only one with speed!”
“Lightning Release: Chidori!”
Reappearing some distance away, Kakashi coldly spoke, forming a Chidori in his hand.
Seeing the Chidori, Kaede’s eyes narrowed, never having seen such a jutsu.
Whoosh!
With Chidori in hand, Kakashi charged at Kaede with incredible speed, his form becoming a streak of lightning.
Initially shocked by Kakashi’s speed, Kaede quickly regained his composure and smirked.
Whoosh!
Kakashi’s Chidori struck where Kaede had been standing, but his eyes held no triumph, knowing he had only hit an afterimage.
“I admit, your speed is impressive, but it’s not enough to match mine! No matter how powerful your attack jutsu, you can’t hit me!”
Kaede reappeared nearby, mocking Kakashi. Speed had always been Kaede’s pride.
“Need to retreat.”
Realising the disparity in speed, Kakashi decided it was wiser to retreat. His chakra was over half depleted, making it unwise to face Kaede in this state.
“Hmph! Trying to escape? With my speed, you’ll only die faster!”
Kaede sneered, seemingly reading Kakashi’s intentions.
“Damn it!”
Kakashi cursed inwardly, clenching his fists. He hadn’t expected Kaede to throw his own words back at him, fueling his anger.
