Naruto: Konoha Silver Wolf - Chapter 70
Though furious, Kakashi kept his cool, knowing that Kaede, the leader of Den Village, was right. With Kaede’s superior speed, fleeing would only lead to a worse fate.
“Run? Why run when I can kill you?”
Kakashi sneered, swinging his blade at Kaede.
“False Lightning Slash!”
As he executed the move, Kakashi added “false” in his mind because he wasn’t using the true Hatake clan technique, which he deemed worthy of the full title.
“Hmph!”
Kaede barely flinched, unimpressed by Kakashi’s attempt. He dodged swiftly, moving too fast for Kakashi’s attack to land. Recognising the disparity, Kakashi halted his follow-up, realising his attack wouldn’t connect. Only the true Hatake Three Blades could match Kaede’s speed, but Kakashi wasn’t ready to reveal that yet.
“With that speed, you dare challenge me with a blade?”
Standing at a distance, Kaede smirked, drawing his blade, which was finer and shorter than Kakashi’s, gleaming with a menacing light.
“Body of the Tempest!”
Kaede’s hands formed seals, and a swirling wind surrounded him, enhancing his movements.
“Wind Release: Body Technique!”
Kakashi’s eyes narrowed, recognising the technique similar to the Raikage’s Lightning Armor—a wind-based kekkei genkai.
Whoosh!
Kaede’s figure vanished, moving so fast that only Kakashi’s Sharingan could barely track his blurred movements.
Kakashi’s eyes widened as he quickly raised his blade to block an attack from behind.
Clang!
Sparks flew as Kakashi barely parried Kaede’s strike. Kaede’s eyes flickered with surprise, not expecting his attack to be blocked.
Kakashi’s gaze sharpened, and he counterattacked.
“False Instant Cut: Second Stage!”
Slash!
However, Kaede vanished again, reappearing at Kakashi’s side and launching another attack.
Clang!
Once more, Kakashi blocked, but his counterattack failed to land. Kaede’s speed was overwhelming, and Kakashi’s efforts seemed futile.
“His attacks are as strong as an average Jonin, but his speed surpasses that of an elite Jonin.”
Kakashi analysed Kaede’s abilities as they clashed, recognising the dire situation.
“I can only defend; my counterattacks are useless. Damn, this is bad.”
Realising the gravity of his predicament, Kakashi cursed internally.
“Impressive! Even after I activated ‘Body of the Tempest,’ you’re the first to block my attacks completely!”
“But it’s useless. All you’re doing is delaying your death. You won’t last long; I’ll make sure you die in despair!”
Kaede marvelled at Kakashi’s resilience but continued to taunt him, confident in wearing him down. His previous opponents, even stronger ones, had fallen to this tactic.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
Their battle raged on, Kaede’s figure almost invisible as he attacked, only becoming visible when striking. Kakashi remained steadfast, parrying each blow, his Sharingan struggling to keep up.
But as time passed, Kakashi began to falter. His arm was the first to be slashed, followed by numerous cuts over the next five minutes. Though not fatal, the wounds left him bloodied and exhausted.
“Haha! Don’t worry, I won’t kill you quickly. I’ll savor every moment, cutting you piece by piece!”
Kaede laughed maniacally, delighting in Kakashi’s suffering.
“Damn it!”
Kakashi seethed with pain and rage, but he forced himself to stay calm. Losing his composure would only hasten his defeat.
“Can’t hold on, can you? Fine, I’ll end this quickly.”
“Wind Release: Tempest Slash!”
Kaede laughed as he prepared a final attack. His blade, infused with a fierce gust of wind, glowed with deadly intent as he swung it at Kakashi.
Whoosh!
The enhanced attack was faster and stronger, bearing down on Kakashi, whose eyes widened in shock.
Clarity can emerge in moments of crisis. Faced with Kaede’s lethal strike, Kakashi’s mind focused, and his Sharingan detected a flaw in the attack.
“There it is!”
In a fraction of a second, Kakashi saw the opening. Gripping his blade tightly, he decided to unleash the true Hatake technique.
“Instant Cut: Second Stage!”
