Naruto: Konoha Silver Wolf - Chapter 73
Rumble!
Under the gloomy sky, thunder rolled, and flashes of lightning illuminated the dark clouds. It was a sight to behold, evoking fear of the lightning striking down.
Outside Den Village, Kakashi stood motionless atop a large tree, observing the movements within the village through the foliage.
“They’re spreading out to search for me, huh. Fine by me,” Kakashi muttered to himself, noticing the movements of the Den ninjas. He glanced up at the sky, determination shining in his eyes.
“Two of them are coming this way. Unlucky for them,” Kakashi smirked as he saw two Den ninjas approaching his position.
“Draw Sword: False Lightning Slash!”
As the two Den ninjas came within ten meters, Kakashi acted. He drew his sword swiftly, slashing at them.
Slash!
The leaves that concealed Kakashi were torn apart as his blade sliced through the air.
“Damn it…”
“The enemy…!”
The two ninjas, startled by the sudden attack, tried to defend themselves with their kunai and swords.
Clang! Clang!
Kakashi’s blade clashed with their weapons, sending them flying backwards.
“There he is…”
“It’s the Leaf ANBU again!”
Meanwhile, within Den Village, Kaede’s eyes snapped open. He had sensed the disturbance and immediately knew it was Kakashi. Without a moment’s hesitation, he vanished from his spot.
Seconds later, Kaede appeared where Kakashi had been, only to find the bodies of two fallen Den ninjas.
“Damn it!”
Kaede cursed, his eyes turning red with anger. He closed his eyes again, focusing on sensing the surrounding air currents. He knew Kakashi couldn’t have gotten far, given the short time frame and the fact that Kakashi had stopped to kill the two ninjas.
“Wind Release: Tempest Body!”
Kaede performed hand seals, activating his kekkei genkai, the Tempest Body. He then sent a small whirlwind skyward as a signal.
“There it is…”
“The leader’s signal…”
“The enemy is over there…”
Den ninjas, seeing Kaede’s signal, began converging on his location.
“So, you’re calling the others to flush me out? Fine, I’ll just kill a few more,” Kakashi thought, seeing Kaede’s signal but remaining hidden. He knew it was only a matter of time before his position was revealed, and he wanted to take out as many enemies as possible.
Kakashi continued to conceal himself, biding his time. Kaede could reach him quickly, but the other ninjas would take longer. This gave Kakashi precious moments to recover his chakra.
Eventually, a Den ninja appeared within fifty meters of Kakashi’s position.
“Damn, it’s Rin, one of the three Jonin,” Kakashi cursed under his breath upon recognising the approaching ninja. He knew he couldn’t easily take down a Jonin like Rin without revealing his full power.
Rin moved cautiously, sensing something was amiss. Kakashi’s mind raced, formulating a strategy to deal with the threat.
“He’s a taijutsu specialist. Maybe I can use genjutsu,” Kakashi thought, his Sharingan glowing red as he prepared his next move.
“Genjutsu: Mist Servant Technique!”
As Rin scanned the area, he saw a flash of red and spotted Kakashi’s figure.
“He’s here!”
Rin shouted, his voice carrying through the air thanks to chakra. Kaede, attuned to the wind, would surely hear it.
Boom!
Rin charged at the figure of Kakashi, delivering a powerful kick. Though Kaede had advised against engaging directly, Rin was confident in his abilities.
Bang!
Rin’s kick hit its mark, but the figure of Kakashi vanished in a puff of smoke.
“A substitution? There!”
Rin turned to see another figure of Kakashi, readying an attack.
“What is Rin attacking?” Kaede, sensing the disturbance from a distance, felt a surge of anxiety. “He’s fighting air. Must be under genjutsu, that fool!”
Kaede’s worry grew as he raced toward Rin’s location. He knew Rin’s importance to their small village and couldn’t afford to lose him.
Within seconds, Kaede was within a hundred meters of Rin, close enough to see him through the trees.
Slash!
At that moment, Kaede saw a figure emerge from the shadows beside Rin, attacking him.
“Rin, get out of there!” Kaede shouted in panic.
