Naruto: Konoha Silver Wolf - Chapter 74
“Leader?”
“Damn! I’ve fallen into a genjutsu!”
Hearing Kaede’s shout, Rin’s body froze momentarily before realising he was under a genjutsu.
Slash!
Before he could break free, a silver flash streaked from his left side, a blade slicing through the air at an incredible speed.
“No…”
Rin knew this attack was real, not an illusion. Unable to evade, he could only watch in horror as the silver light grew larger in his vision.
Shunk!
The silver blade cleaved through, and Rin’s head was severed, rolling to the ground as blood sprayed from his neck like a fountain, raining down in droplets.
“Rin…”
Seeing Rin decapitated before his eyes, Kaede’s eyes widened in shock. He couldn’t believe an elite Jonin like Rin had been killed so swiftly.
“Damn it!”
Kaede cursed through gritted teeth, lunging at Kakashi with his drawn blade.
Clang!
Kakashi easily parried Kaede’s attack. Despite Kaede’s bloodline limit, ‘Tempest Body,’ which granted him exceptional speed, his swordsmanship was merely at a Chunin level. It was his speed that made his attacks formidable. Kakashi found it easy to defend against Kaede’s attacks at full strength and with his chakra restored.
Whoosh!
Blocking Kaede’s strike, Kakashi used the force to propel himself backwards, retreating in a specific direction.
“Think you can escape that easily?”
Kaede’s eyes burned red with fury as he slashed at Kakashi again.
Clang!
Kakashi dodged once more, continuing to retreat. Unlike their previous encounter, Kakashi had memorised Kaede’s attack patterns and habits, allowing him to defend and retreat simultaneously.
“You’re not getting away!”
Kaede scoffed, relentlessly slashing at Kakashi. He wasn’t concerned that Kakashi could block his attacks and retreat; he knew that with his superior speed, he would eventually catch up and pin Kakashi down, especially with the other Den ninjas closing in. Once Kakashi was cornered, killing him with their combined efforts would be easy.
Though enraged, Kaede refrained from using his powerful attack, ‘Tempest Slash.’ He knew better than to use such a move without certainty. It could backfire, giving Kakashi an opening. He was confident he could wear Kakashi down over time.
Thus, Kaede continued his assault, and Kakashi continued his defensive retreat. Slowly but surely, Kakashi managed to gain some distance, though it was a painstakingly slow process.
Kakashi had retreated considerably in less than fifteen minutes, but Kaede remained hot on his trail, and the other Den ninjas were catching up. Some had already flanked Kakashi, ready to strike.
Boom!
The skies finally unleashed a torrential downpour, a bolt of lightning flashing in the distance.
As lightning flashed, Kakashi halted, unable to retreat further due to the Den ninjas blocking his path.
“Ha! No more running. Let’s see where you can escape now!” Kaede laughed, seeing Kakashi trapped. With Kakashi surrounded, he was confident that the Leaf ANBU had no chance.
“You think you can keep me here? Your Den Village doesn’t have what it takes to stop me!” Kakashi sneered.
Kaede and the other Den ninjas glared at Kakashi in anger. His words were infuriating, and he showed complete disregard for them.
“Kill him!” Kaede ordered, no longer willing to waste words.
Whoosh!
Even without the order, the Den ninjas had been eager to attack. They all charged at Kakashi with the command given, launching their attacks.
Whoosh!
Kakashi dodged and weaved, but the sheer number of attacks, combined with Kaede’s relentless strikes, soon left him with a new wound.
“Damn it!”
“Lightning Release: Chidori!”
Kakashi cursed, forming hand seals quickly. He summoned the Chidori, holding the lightning in his hand.
Chirp, chirp, chirp, chirp!
Seeing the Chidori, the Den ninjas paused, wary of the powerful technique.
“Still struggling in vain? You should know by now, with me here, there’s no escape!” Kaede said cautiously, though he kept his guard up.
“Heh, you think you can stop me? You’re underestimating me!” Kakashi retorted, his voice filled with cold confidence. Suddenly, he thrust the Chidori into the ground.
“Lightning Release: Electro Web Destruction!”
Boom!
Kakashi’s Chidori didn’t disperse but spread like an electric web, lightning arcing from the centre and spreading rapidly across the ground. With the rain-soaked earth, the lightning travelled even faster. The Den ninjas saw the web of electricity spreading toward them, and their eyes widened in fear. There was no escape.
“Arghhhh!”
