Shan, who had just returned to the village, was shocked to hear from Ho that Chief Kaede and all their comrades had vanished. The situation he had feared had indeed come to pass.

His mission to seek aid from the Hidden Cloud Village had failed. After pleading for a day without success, he returned with a heavy heart, hoping nothing had happened to their leader and friends. But the reality was far harsher.

“It was the Leaf ANBU!” Shan growled, his voice filled with hatred for Konoha and the Cloud Village that refused to help. “They want to destroy our village!”

“What…”

“The Leaf ANBU…”

“One of the Five Great Shinobi Villages, Konoha…”

“Our intelligence gathering on Konoha and the Land of Fire must have been discovered!”

The Den ninjas widened their eyes in shock. They couldn’t believe it was the legendary ANBU of Konoha attacking their village.

“We must leave now!” Ho commanded, his eyes flashing with determination. “Our leader and comrades are likely already gone. The enemy is probably hiding, waiting to kill us all. We need to scatter and escape while they don’t know we’re back.”

“What about the villagers?” Shan asked, his voice trembling with fear.

“Forget the villagers! The enemy won’t target ordinary civilians,” Ho snapped. “Listen to me; if we scatter, we might survive. We can seek revenge on Konoha later. Now isn’t the time to be heroic.”

Whoosh!

Without waiting for a response, Ho dashed towards the village gate, disappearing instantly.

“Ho is right!”

“We need to leave now!”

“Yes, let’s get out of here!”

The other Den ninjas quickly agreed, preparing to escape. Only Shan stood, his face twisted with despair and anger.

“You… How can you do this…”

His voice was filled with sorrow. He couldn’t believe his fellow ninjas were abandoning their village and its people.

Thud!

But just as the other Den ninjas began to move, Ho’s body was suddenly flung back into the village, landing with a thud on the ground.

A figure wearing a white mask and holding a katana appeared before them.

Their eyes widened as they saw Ho’s lifeless body on the ground, realising their Jonin had been killed in a single strike. The sight was terrifying and unbelievable.

“Ho…”

“The Leaf ANBU…”

Their voices trembled with fear. Panic-stricken, they began to flee in the opposite direction of the Leaf ANBU.

“You think you can escape? Foolish,” Kakashi muttered coldly, watching the Den ninjas scatter. His brow furrowed with determination.

Whoosh!

Kakashi dashed towards the nearest Den ninja, his blade flashing. In moments, the ninja fell dead at his feet.

Ten minutes later, the Den Village was devoid of any surviving ninjas. All that remained were panic-stricken villagers, some fleeing with their families, others abandoning them in their desperation to escape.

“I almost died on this mission! You all deserve this,” Kakashi said coldly, wiping the blood from his blade. He turned his gaze to the villagers and began his merciless slaughter.

Screams echoed through the village.

“No… Please don’t kill me…” a young boy, no older than ten, pleaded with Kakashi, his face pale with fear. The boy’s innocent eyes and youthful face showed a promising future.

Kakashi hesitated, his blade hovering in the air. But then he sighed, turning away. “I’ll kill the others first. Maybe by then, I’ll have the resolve to kill the children and women too.”

As he turned, the boy’s fear vanished, replaced by rage and hatred. “Die! Give me back my brother!” he screamed, lunging at Kakashi with a kunai.

Thud!

The kunai plunged into Kakashi’s back, but instead of flesh, it struck a wooden log, dispersing in a puff of smoke.

“You can’t afford to show mercy to your enemies, no matter if they’re children or women,” Kakashi’s cold voice came from behind the boy. His eyes, filled with icy anger, glared at the child. “They will only turn on you.”

“False Flash: Second Strike!”

Slash!

Kakashi didn’t hold back, his blade cutting the boy in half. The child’s body fell to the ground in two pieces.

“Kill!” Kakashi’s heart hardened as he turned to the remaining villagers. He no longer saw them as innocents. To him, they were all enemies.

The slaughter continued the village echoing with cries of despair.
