Naruto Shadow Mage - Chapter 27
Might Guy, also known as Guy-sensei, is one of the legendary Jonin of Konoha!
In the later parts of the original story, Guy used the Eight Gates Formation to fiercely battle Madara, earning him the honorable title of “Emperor Guy.”
But what impressed Koshino the most wasn’t Guy’s terrifying power with all eight gates open but his journey of growth.
Who is truly a genius in Konoha right now?
Besides Koshino, who recently gained some fame, and Uchiha Itachi, there’s Kakashi Hatake, who became a Jonin at twelve and created the S-rank jutsu, Chidori.
However, after the Kannabi Bridge battle, Koshino knew Kakashi’s reputation would start to wane.
After receiving the Sharingan from Obito, anyone would think that with Kakashi’s talent, he would surely craft another legend in the ninja world. However, due to the burdens of his bonds, Kakashi’s strength stagnated. By the time of the original story, he had become an ordinary ninja, almost losing to Zabuza Momochi during their first encounter.
In contrast, Guy, who initially had average abilities, seized the opportunity during Kakashi’s decline and caught up. Through sheer hard work and perseverance, he earned the title of Konoha’s Green Beast. He became Kakashi’s lifelong rival, remaining significantly stronger than Kakashi even in the Fourth Great Ninja War.
So, if there’s someone Koshino truly respects, Guy is definitely one of them.
Especially at 5 AM, seeing dried sweat stains on Guy’s feet, Koshino couldn’t help but think, “Graduating at seven and becoming a Chunin at 11, Guy relies not on talent but on hard work and effort. Compared to Guy, I might have been a bit lazy lately!”
“I spent nearly half a month with the help of Shadow Clones just to complete the first stage of throwing weapon training. At this rate, Itachi and other geniuses of Konoha will catch up soon!”
“No! Even for the title of genius, I need to push myself harder from today onwards!”
“From now on, I’ll leave the throwing weapon training to my Shadow Clones. The most difficult first stage is done, and I need to shift my focus.”
With this in mind, Koshino smiled as he watched Guy training diligently in the training ground.
He then opened the app’s development function list, noting that the new technique was only 30% complete. Understanding that developing new techniques would take a long time, Koshino decided to focus on taijutsu for now.
Never underestimate taijutsu, as it often plays a crucial role in ninja battles.
Even the future Kakashi, how many times can he use Raikiri with his chakra reserves?
In battles using the Sharingan, Kakashi often tires himself out before his enemies do. This shows that most Jonin defeat their enemies using taijutsu. Currently, Koshino’s taijutsu is a weak point, and without diligent training, no matter how many secret or jutsu techniques he masters, he’ll be cannon fodder on the battlefield.
Recognizing his shortcomings, he knew he needed to address them.
Having completed one-third of his throwing weapon training, Koshino decided to let his Shadow Clones handle the remaining stages. So, creating over ten Shadow Clones with the Multi-Shadow Clone Jutsu and feeling his chakra drop to a third, Koshino smiled and approached Guy.
Guy, focused on his training, didn’t notice Koshino’s presence.
The moment Koshino appeared, Guy immediately assumed a fighting stance and called out, “Who’s there!”
“Sorry, I reserved this training ground yesterday. I didn’t expect someone to be here so early.”
“Uh… I hope I didn’t disturb you?”
Spying on someone’s training is a taboo in the ninja world.
Thus, as soon as Koshino appeared, he quickly apologized to Guy. Fortunately, Guy wasn’t one to hold grudges, and Koshino saw him smile and say, “Oh, you’re here to train! No problem, let’s train together! This training ground is quite peaceful, and I usually train here.”
“By the way, I didn’t get your name!”
“My name is Nara Koshino. Please take care of me from now on!”
“What? You’re Nara Koshino?”
After introducing himself, Koshino noticed Guy’s expression change.
Though his appearance in the original story was similar, with his signature bowl cut, green bodysuit, and red scarf adding a touch of fashion, Guy’s eyes lit up upon hearing Koshino’s name. His exposed teeth gleamed like an advertisement for toothpaste.
“Nara Koshino, I’ve heard of you!”
“You’re the genius of the village, right? I want to challenge you!”
Well, Koshino initially thought Guy had some unique hobby, but it turned out he was yet another challenger eager to test a genius.
However, unlike other challengers, Guy was someone Koshino couldn’t ignore.
After all, this was “Emperor Guy” from the original story!
So, hearing Guy’s challenge, Koshino smiled and replied, “You haven’t introduced yourself yet. That seems a bit rude, doesn’t it?”
“Oh! Oh! Sorry!”
“My name is Might Guy, but you can call me Guy!”
Scratching his head awkwardly, Guy then smiled and said, “Koshino, I’ve always had a dream of proving that even the underdog can defeat a genius. Kakashi used to be my target, but I haven’t seen him around lately. Finally meeting you, I want to spar with you!”
Guy’s eyes seemed to ignite with enthusiasm as he asked, “Koshino, can we spar?”
“Of course, no problem!”
“But you should rest a bit first. You’ve been training hard, right?”
Koshino kindly reminded Guy, but Guy, not taking the hint, laughed and replied, “It’s fine. This amount of training is nothing.”
“Koshino, since you agreed to spar, here I come!”
“Watch out!”
“Whoosh!”
Guy’s straightforwardness was unexpected for Koshino.
Dealing with someone like Guy, you never have to worry about ulterior motives.
But starting a spar so suddenly caught Koshino off guard.
Especially since Koshino’s taijutsu wasn’t great, despite Guy using his signature Leaf Hurricane, the sheer strength behind Guy’s move forced Koshino to step back after blocking it with his palm.
However, after steadying himself, Koshino looked at Guy with a new determination!
“What an impressive Guy! His taijutsu is really strong!”
“But relying solely on taijutsu won’t defeat me!”
“Shadow Imitation Technique!”
