Naruto: The Fall of the Uchiha - Chapter 11
Tension!
Although there are no obvious signs, the entire village is shrouded in an eerie atmosphere.
Members of the Uchiha Police Force, disliked by many villagers, are usually seen patrolling the streets of Konoha. However, in recent days, only a few have been seen.
For many villagers and vendors who dislike the city guards, this should be a cause for celebration. Without the supervision of the city guards, they found it much easier to engage in activities that violated village regulations.
Hmm…
This stall is mine now. You better move along…
Cherish life, and stay away from gambling and drugs. Sir, do you want to play a game?
Things like that…
But as they say, ducks are the first to sense the warmth of spring water. The longer the police force members were missing, the more their initial relief became fear.
After all.
Rumors of a potential Uchiha rebellion had spread throughout Konoha for a long time. Now, with the Uchiha’s large-scale movements, what could it all mean?
It wasn’t just the ordinary villagers who were concerned. Even some regular shinobi in the village, especially the higher-ups of various clans, began to worry and feel uneasy.
The Uchiha clan had suddenly sealed off their entire district, cutting all communication with the outside world.
Could it be?
Are they about to take action?
The strength of the Uchiha clan was well known. If a civil war broke out, what would become of the village?
This concern only grew as the Anbu under the Hokage, and the Root members under Danzo Shimura gathered around the Uchiha district, intensifying the tense atmosphere.
…
Hokage’s Office.
The Third Hokage of Konoha, Sarutobi Hiruzen, had a pipe in his mouth. He frowned deeply in the smoke-filled Hokage’s office, silently staring toward the Uchiha district.
As the highest authority in Konoha, Hiruzen was naturally the first to receive news of the Uchiha clan’s unusual movements.
Too frequent!
Since the Nine-Tails’ attack, the Uchiha clan’s actions have become more prominent. Although there were no apparent signs of rebellion, this deepened the shadow in Hiruzen’s heart.
Does this indicate they are about to act?
Uchiha Shisui!
The image of the handsome figure that often wandered in his mind flashed again, making the shadow in his eyes even darker.
Thud! Thud! Thud…
The door to the Hokage’s office was abruptly pushed open, accompanied by hurried footsteps. An older man barged straight in, wrapped in bandages and exuding a cold aura.
“Danzo, what’s the matter?”
The Third Hokage’s aged voice sounded seemingly indifferent to the rudeness of the intruder, but a trace of dissatisfaction was already visible in his eyes.
Only a few in Konoha would dare enter the Hokage’s office without knocking, and even fewer with such a chilling presence!
Hmm…
The root has become a bit bloated lately. After this event, maybe it’s time to trim it down.
Sarutobi Hiruzen’s gaze softened slightly as he looked at Danzo, a gesture that seemed to calm Danzo’s anxious heart a little.
“Indeed, my old comrade, such a stance truly befits the title of a village’s shadow. It’s a pity you’re too weak. Only I can lead Konoha into the future!”
Danzo felt a fleeting warmth in his heart, but it quickly vanished. His briefly gentle gaze turned cold again as he mimicked the Hokage’s indifferent posture.
“The Uchiha clan, how do you plan to deal with them? Their actions have become increasingly frequent.”
Hiruzen remained silent, though the smoke he exhaled became somewhat erratic.
Seeing this, Danzo snorted coldly, his voice filled with reproach.
“How long are you going to hesitate? Do you want to wait until they attack us, as Uchiha Shisui the traitor said?”
“Danzo!”
Hiruzen abruptly stopped smoking, slamming his pipe down on the table, his voice low and serious.
“The Uchiha are a ninja clan of Konoha. They are also a part of this village. Without evidence, I will never agree to your underhanded methods.”
Danzo’s anger flared as he coldly mocked.
“It will be too late by then. If you want evidence, I have plenty.”
Hiruzen’s heart sank at these words, his face darkening as he stared at Danzo, enunciating each word carefully.
“Danzo! Abandon your petty schemes. I will never allow you to use your devious plots against our fellow villagers!”
The Third Hokage’s expression was stern, his frail body emanating an aura as grand as the blazing sun.
Danzo, long accustomed to this, sneered with contempt.
“Hmph! We both know the evil power of the Uchiha! That wicked clan is not to be trusted!”
Hmm…
Hiruzen’s face grew darker as he continued to smoke, plunging the office into an eerie silence.
Sarutobi, you are old, just the Uchiha, that’s all!
As time passed, Danzo’s impatience became more apparent, and the disdain in his eyes grew more assertive.
Anyone posing a threat to the village should be dealt with.
It’s the same for everyone, whether Uchiha Madara, Hatake Sakumo, Namikaze Minato, or Senju Nawaki!
You are no longer fit to sit in the Hokage’s seat. Only I, Danzo Shimura, can lead Konoha to the peak of the ninja world!
With this thought, Danzo ignored Hiruzen, turning and leaving the room, which made him feel agitated.
“Sarutobi, you will regret this!”
Danzo’s cold, low voice echoed just as the door was about to close.
“Danzo, I am the Hokage!”
The Third Hokage’s gaze followed Danzo’s departing figure, his voice filled with the overwhelming presence of the “Strongest Hokage!”
Danzo’s body stiffened momentarily, but he forced himself to remain calm as he left.
“Danzo, you are just Konoha’s root, and I am the Hokage. The affairs of the village are not just about fighting…”
Sensing Danzo’s departure, Hiruzen picked up his pipe and resumed smoking.
Where you sit determines your perspective!
As the Hokage, Hiruzen had to consider issues from the Hokage’s standpoint.
The Uchiha are one of Konoha’s oldest and strongest clans. Even if their reputation in the village is poor, taking action against them without evidence would lead to distrust among other clans.
After generations of effort by various Hokage, civilian shinobi only began to emerge. However, Konoha’s true support still lay with the clans.
Taking action against a clan would undoubtedly cause discord among other clans, even if it was the disliked Uchiha.
Moreover!
Are the Uchiha so easy to bully?
As a clan with such powerful kekkei genkai, who could guarantee they didn’t hide more terrifying powers?
That’s the forbidden power of the gods!
Hiruzen sighed slightly but wasn’t too troubled, as he still had Shisui and Itachi as pieces on the board.
Although he couldn’t be sure how much they could do, it was enough to give him time to prepare.
Another crucial point was that although the village had signed a peace treaty with the Hidden Cloud Village, the threat from the outside had never ceased. A large-scale conflict with the Uchiha could lead to the Fourth Great Ninja War.
The village still needed time…
The Third Hokage sighed again, then looked at a photo of a blond young man on the side of the room.
In the photo, the young man was dignified yet approachable, young and full of vitality.
“Minato, if it were you, what would you do?”
Hiruzen’s gaze held a touch of nostalgia, but it quickly disappeared. He turned his head back towards the Uchiha district, his eyes filled with doubt.
Summoning medical ninjas! And that strange meeting…
Uchiha!
What are you planning?
