Naruto: The Fall of the Uchiha - Chapter 28
The Uchiha Move!
After waiting three days, when everyone thought the event had ended, the Uchiha clan suddenly departed from their compound in a grand procession.
To be honest, Uchiha Fugaku initially opposed Jin’s decision.
Given the current tense atmosphere in the village, even political dullards like Fugaku and Elder Setsuna understood that further planning was necessary. The “Surprise Attack” plan could be considered later, once tensions had eased.
However, Jin simply responded he wanted to take the clan out for a barbecue.
As the tournament’s chief judge, Jin had already reluctantly collected 30 million in entry fees. Pocketing the grand prize on top of that would have felt too greedy, even if justified.
Uh… makes sense!
If not for Jin’s considerable power surge, making it likely to suffer a ten-hit “Low Blow Combo” without Mangekyo Sharingan, Fugaku would have made him understand the clan leader’s wrath.
Even though Fugaku backed down, Jin refused to let him accompany them.
Jin looked at Fugaku as if he were an idiot, describing the absurdity of the clan leader leading a charge through Konoha.
Uh-huh!
Fugaku and Setsuna had gone home to brood, leaving the other elders to train the Chunin and Genin rigorously.
From the clan leader and elder’s affection, you better work hard!
Thus!
The Uchiha clan left their compound in a grand procession, followed by a brooding Shisui.
The Root members stationed at the Uchiha compound quickly noticed such a large-scale action, and the news spread rapidly.
The news spread faster throughout Konoha when the Uchiha forces appeared on Northwest Street.
But…
“What the hell is he planning?”
Upon receiving this news, Danzo in the Root base was surprised but delighted.
The Uchiha, always hiding in their compound, had finally left their shell. This was a golden opportunity to eliminate this “thorn in the side.”
Danzo had no qualms. As long as Jin was killed on the spot, he had ways to cover it up afterward.
At worst…
He could always use a Root member as a scapegoat, something he, the “darkness of the ninja world,” had done many times before.
As for whether the Uchiha would revolt afterward, Danzo cared even less!
If the Uchiha dared to revolt, he would lead the forces to suppress them, destroying this evil clan. His rise to Hokage would then be inevitable.
Just wait, Hiruzen… I told you you would regret it!
Meanwhile, Hiruzen Sarutobi was equally perplexed in the Hokage building. Given his understanding of Uchiha politics, they should lie low after causing such a stir, waiting for the spotlight to fade. Why stir up trouble again?
Could it be hubris?
Hiruzen considered the Uchiha’s notorious arrogance. Perhaps it wasn’t impossible.
If that were the case, the Uchiha were not to be feared.
Hiruzen had already prepared for everything. If anyone dared to storm the Hokage building, he, the “strongest Hokage,” was confident he could handle it.
Of course!
According to the ANBU’s information, Uchiha’s route didn’t seem to lead to the Hokage building, but this direction seemed familiar.
Hiruzen rubbed his weathered face, a strange but familiar feeling rising.
If the Uchiha weren’t heading to the Hokage building, where could they be going?
In this direction?
Could it be the Root headquarters…
“No way, the true Root base is incredibly secretive. I only found it through several spies…”
Hiruzen’s expression turned strange, but he grew unsure after glancing at the map.
“No, it couldn’t be!”
Hiruzen suddenly felt a bit anxious but not too worried.
After all, he had prepared for this. According to ANBU reports, most Uchiha stayed in the compound, and Fugaku and Setsuna weren’t present.
Hmm… let’s wait and see.
If Danzo and the Uchiha conflict, it might be an excellent opportunity to gauge the Uchiha’s strength and see what cards Danzo has been hiding.
Hmm… Danzo has been quite active lately!
“Whether it’s the Uchiha or Danzo…”
Hiruzen quietly leaned against the window, staring proudly at the now orange sky with a confident smile.
…
“What a beautiful day!”
Wearing their flame-fan insignia, the Uchiha forces marched down the wide street under Jin’s lead.
In the past, such a scene would have drawn inquiries from guards and checkpoints. Konoha, while nominally a village, was a military installation.
Usually, gatherings of more than ten ninjas on the street would be questioned.
These essential guards, mostly Genin, rarely enforced this since challenging higher-ups within the village was unthinkable.
But today…
No one questioned, and few even dared to look.
Watching Jin lead the Uchiha forces away, guards silently prayed not to attract their attention.
Approach them?
Only an idiot would do that. These guards were essentially the Police Force’s “backups,” theoretically their superiors. Although communication was rare, seeking trouble now would be like a fraud meeting the real deal—a bad idea!
Even street pedestrians avoided the Uchiha, clearing a wide path.
But this “harmony” wouldn’t last long…
At the end of the street, a dozen tall figures in black cloaks stood vigil, seemingly waiting for some time.
“ANBU?”
Jin casually approached, noticing their combat uniforms with silver chest armor and animal masks.
“Uchiha, return to your compound. Jin, you stay. Come with us to the ANBU.”
The lead ANBU with a cat-face mask spoke coldly, his mechanical voice devoid of emotion. His arrogance caused Jin to frown.
“You clearly don’t know who you’re talking to. Watch yourself in the next life!”
Jin’s face showed a mocking smile. He then shouted to the Uchiha behind him.
“There are enemy spies posing as ANBU in the village. Everyone, listen up!”
In the horrified gaze of Shisui, who lagged, Jin decisively ordered.
“Kill them all!”
