Naruto: The Fall of the Uchiha - Chapter 3
“Jin, you’re repeating those strange things!”
Along with that slightly helpless voice, a rare Uchiha with a button nose she instantly appeared before Uchiha Jin’s eyes.
“…Isn’t this little Shisui? What brings you here to visit me!”
Uchiha Jin was relatively calm at the moment. He had already noticed Shisui’s presence at the training ground. Shisui had not bothered to conceal his presence. This made Jin very curious about why someone who usually avoided him suddenly sought him out.
Could it be that my ‘family affection’ plan failed?
“Your statements are too dangerous. The atmosphere in the village and within the clan is getting more tense, and now you’re even mentioning that taboo figure. Don’t you realize that you’re dragging the clan into the abyss?”
The gloom on Shisui’s face had already crept into his brows, the red glow in his gloomy eyes growing more intense.
Uchiha Madara!
That name was a taboo within the village. The First Great Ninja War wouldn’t have started so early without him, which led to the First Hokage’s untimely death.
Even though the Uchiha clan did not follow Madara back then and did not openly suffer from that incident, in secret, it became one of the most profound reasons the other ninja clans in Konoha resented them.
The existence of Uchiha Madara needed to be thoroughly buried in the dust of history, both for the Uchiha clan and the entire Hidden Leaf Village.
Madara was bad enough, let alone the existence of the Mangeky? Sharingan, an evil kekkei genkai known as the ‘Eyes of God.’ Shisui alone knew how powerful and forbidden this strength was.
If the Uchiha clan were to learn about this power and gain the forbidden and evil method to awaken it, it would lead the clan down a path of destruction and madness.
However.
The one comfort for Shisui was that Jin seemed unaware of how to awaken the Mangeky? Sharingan.
But even so, these pieces of information were still ultimate taboos.
Yet, after becoming the chief instructor at the clan’s training camp, Jin preached his radical theories and openly discussed these forbidden matters.
How could this be allowed?
The Uchiha’s pride stemmed from their powerful bloodline. When the young Uchiha was still naive, there was hope the Will of Fire could enlighten them.
But with Jin’s influence, that path was now firmly closed.
He openly talked about Uchiha Madara and the Mangeky? Sharingan, causing young Uchiha to swell with pride over their powerful bloodline. This made the already proud Uchiha even more stubborn and difficult to integrate into the village.
This would further worsen the clan’s external image, ultimately leading to a more significant divide between the clan and the village.
“Especially now, with tensions rising… Why… why can’t the clan understand the greatness of the Will of Fire?”
Thinking this, Shisui felt even more sorrowful. His gaze towards Jin was filled with disappointed frustration.
“Shisui!”
Wary of Shisui’s abilities, Jin suddenly stood up and threw his drink to the ground upon hearing the accusatory tone.
“I’m your grandfather, how dare you speak to me like that!”
Uh…
The words that Shisui had intended to use to interrogate Jin froze. Recalling why he usually avoided Jin, he remembered Jin’s peculiar claim.
“By marriage!”
The gloom on Shisui’s face instantly vanished, replaced by a blush of embarrassment as he struggled to retort.
There was no helping it.
Jin’s name sounded almost identical to Shisui’s grandfather, Kagami, and the family relation was indisputable.
Blood is thicker than water!
Jin’s tone grew more passionate, as if Shisui had committed grievous acts, leaving Shisui stunned.
Indeed.
Although Shisui and Jin were not far apart in age, due to Jin’s branch of the family having children late, by bloodline inheritance, Jin indeed counted as Shisui’s grandfather’s generation.
Had Kagami not died early, he and Jin calling each other brothers in front of Shisui would have been amusing.
For Shisui, this situation was quite awkward. Jin was indeed of his grandfather’s generation by bloodline, and their names sounded highly similar.
Thus, every verbal clash with Jin ended in this awkward stalemate, leaving Shisui at a loss for what to do.
Shisui usually avoided Jin, but the increasingly tense relationship between the clan and the village, exacerbated by Jin’s radical influence, could no longer be ignored.
Within the Uchiha, the radicals held the dominant stance, while the moderates were merely concerned with the losses and benefits of a coup.
In such a scenario, Jin, acting like a mastermind, subtly influenced clan members with his ‘evil’ rhetoric, especially the rapidly improving young Uchiha, and shamelessly distorted Shisui’s beloved ‘Will of Fire.’
“The so-called Hidden Leaf, the so-called Hokage!
The name ‘Hidden Leaf’ comes from the Senju clan, while the title of Hokage originates from the Uchiha clan’s symbol.
The Uchiha flame fan!
Bearing the Uchiha flame fan emblem, the Uchiha’s will is the faithful Will of Fire!
With the Senju clan’s decline, the Uchiha must take up the banner of the Will of Fire, restoring order to the Hidden Leaf Village.”
…
Nonsense!
Shisui, deeply influenced by the Will of Fire since childhood, couldn’t accept such absurdity. However, to his dismay, Jin’s rhetoric was trendy and had spread among the young Uchiha, causing several ‘neutral’ members to turn radical.
Shisui couldn’t stand by any longer. He couldn’t watch his clan step into the abyss nor bear to see his beloved village suffer significant losses.
“Don’t tell me these useless things!”
Shisui, red-faced and thick-necked, interrupted Jin, pleadingly continuing.
“More clan members are joining the radicals. If this continues, the Uchiha are doomed!”
“What!”
Jin’s eyes suddenly lit up at Shisui’s words, his expression turning excited as he questioned further.
“Are there really members joining my radical faction? Why didn’t I know?”
Uh…
Shisui’s eyes shrank, his face stiffening with pain as he realised a more terrifying problem.
“The elders in the last clan meeting were calling for a coup…”
Although the hope seemed slim, Shisui tried his best to persuade Jin. If the radicals could be the first to change, it would set an excellent example for the Uchiha clan.
Unfortunately…
Jin’s simple question shattered the slight hope Shisui had.
Sure enough!
“Are you talking about those talkative ‘moderates’?”
Jin rolled his eyes lazily and reclined back in his chair, scolding with frustration.
“A bunch of cowards can’t achieve anything. They talk about a coup all day but never take action. Do you think the Hokage isn’t prepared for them?”
“If they had any guts, they’d follow me and raid the Hokage’s office tonight. We’d have at least a fifty percent chance of success!”
Hmm… Everything is fifty-fifty; either it succeeds or it fails. Jin could accept any outcome.
Oh yeah!
“It’s not that I look down on the ‘moderates,’ but if they manage to stage a coup within three years, I’ll chop my head off and give it to you!”
“You…”
Shisui’s eyes were vacant, filled with shock as he stared at Jin in disbelief.
It made sense!
Despite Jin’s absurd and grating words, Shisui realised there was some truth. Without external forces, the radicals wouldn’t be confident in supporting a coup anytime soon…
No, wait!
Doesn’t this mean Jin is even more dangerous?
Shing!
Due to the sudden surge of emotion within Shisui, a unique blade-like pattern unconsciously appeared in his eyes.
Mangeky? Sharingan, activate!
