Naruto: The Fall of the Uchiha - Chapter 31
“Uchiha!”
Before Uchiha Jin and Shisui could finish their conversation, an enraged shout echoed from a distance.
A chakra signature filled with icy anger radiated through the sensory range of all the Uchiha present.
The next moment!
Accompanied by the appearance of several flickering figures, an older man wrapped in bandages led a group of masked subordinates as they strode in.
Danzo Shimura!
As Jin and Shisui quickly recognized the older man’s repulsive face, both couldn’t help but furrow their brows.
Although neither liked the older man, their reasons were entirely different.
Shisui was concerned about the volatile situation they were about to face, while Jin simply loathed Danzo’s very existence.
Killing Danzo would be incredibly satisfying, just like a particular individual who liked to use his mother’s presence.
However, unlike the other person, Jin was more curious about how this seemingly not-so-bright fellow had survived until now.
Bringing such a small number of subordinates, he dared to challenge the elite of the Uchiha!
Hmm!
This was the first formal meeting between Jin and Danzo. Jin, who had always stayed low-key within the clan grounds, sipping tea, had never had the opportunity to encounter the rat that hid in the shadows.
But!
The moment Jin and Danzo locked eyes, they immediately recognized each other. An invisible tension radiating from them clashed and filled the air.
After a brief but intense clash of wills, Danzo, realizing he couldn’t intimidate Jin, felt a chill run down his spine. His gaze shifted to the neatly arranged corpses around.
Confirming that all the subordinates he had sent were indeed dead, a strong sense of unease settled in his heart.
*How dare you!*
Danzo had sensed something was wrong the moment he felt the battle’s vibrations from afar, but he never imagined the other party would kill so decisively!
It was devastating to think that eight Jonin and ten Special Jonin, the elite of Root, would be killed so swiftly. Despite hoarding resources for years, losing over twenty percent of his elite force instantly was shocking.
*Hiss…*
The heartache twisted Danzo’s expression further, but more than the loss of his men, he was concerned about this perfect opportunity to deal with the Uchiha.
Danzo’s cold gaze swept over the Uchiha present, feeling fear and anger as he growled.
“Uchiha Jin, how dare you treat Konoha’s ANBU this way? Do you even consider yourself a Konoha ninja?”
“Nope!”
Jin’s reply was resolute, his tone even carrying a hint of mockery.
Hearing such a blunt response, Danzo was stunned, and Shisui was equally bewildered!
*So bold…*
Hadn’t they planned to blame the spies for the killings?
Why was Jin now directly clashing with Danzo? Wasn’t he afraid of the consequences?
Sweat that had just begun to dry on Shisui’s face started to bead again, but the more enraged one was our “Scapegoat,” Danzo.
“Uchiha Jin!”
With Danzo’s angry shout, his subordinates drew their kunai, preparing for battle.
“As the Hokage’s advisor, I declare Uchiha Jin a rogue ninja. Kill him on sight…”
Just as Danzo tried to use authority to suppress the Uchiha and order his subordinates to kill Jin, that familiar mocking voice rang out again.
“I am an elder of the Uchiha, not a Konoha ninja. Did you hear that clearly?”
With Jin’s calm words, dozens of Sharingan eyes flashed with cold intent, making the wide Konoha street feel chilling.
“You…”
Seeing that his intimidation failed, Danzo’s twisted face grew more contorted. He tried to bluff once more.
“Shisui, are the Uchiha rebelling?”
Seeing Danzo targeting the weakest link, Shisui instinctively stepped back, stammering, unsure how to respond.
But Jin saw through Danzo’s ploy, kicking Shisui away and coldly glaring at Danzo’s men.
“Just encountered a few suicidal spies. The police force is executing its duty. Do you have a problem?”
“Lies! These are ANBU members. Uchiha Jin, you kill openly and dare to spout lies. Everyone, take him down!”
Furious with Jin’s response, Danzo ordered the Uchiha around him to capture Jin, but his command was ignored. The Uchiha looked at him with cold smirks, ignoring his order. Even his Root subordinates didn’t move.
For a moment.
Danzo, maintaining his righteous facade, was at a loss, but his thick skin made it a minor embarrassment.
Otherwise, his brainwashed Root subordinates would have attacked. Did anyone think the Dark of the Shinobi World couldn’t command his men? He was just testing the Uchiha’s boundaries.
But Danzo changed his strategy, seeing no chance to “sneak” an advantage.
After all.
Sending Root members disguised as ANBU to summon Jin was a mistake. He thought sending a few people to summon Jin would be more credible and more straightforward to lure him out for a kill.
But Jin’s decisiveness in killing his men openly in Konoha shocked him, and with such heavy losses, he couldn’t face the elite Uchiha directly.
Another mistake was showing up before Jin, hoping to use the village’s authority to sway him. This time, it failed utterly.
Now, he needed to stall for time, wait for Hiruzen Sarutobi to react, wait for Konoha’s forces to gather here, and then he could regain control.
But now Danzo was scared. He had heard of Jin’s “Jade Shattering” reputation, assuming all Uchiha were weaklings. He never thought this one would be genuinely fierce!
Danzo realized his assassination plan had backfired, truly angering this “Jade Shattering” Uchiha!
If Jin intended to fight to the death, Danzo felt his current situation was precarious.
*Young man, impulsiveness is the devil…*
Maintaining his rigid, cold facade, Danzo’s heart desperately called out.
*Sarutobi, save me!*
