Naruto: The Fall of the Uchiha - Chapter 34
“The Darkness of the Ninja World? Ha~”
“Stay in the sewers long enough, and you become nothing but a rat lurking in dark corners!”
Watching Danzo’s face shift from furious red to deathly pale, Uchiha Jin sneered disdainfully.
It wasn’t that Uchiha Jin overlooked Danzo silently activating the “Curse Mark of Death,” but it made him look down on this “Pot Shadow” Danzo Shimura even more.
That’s right!
Although Uchiha Jin’s sudden attack was swift—so sudden that even Tonan and Yuara, newly advanced to Kage-level, didn’t expect it—Danzo should have!
Once, this Hokage advisor earned his place through battlefield prowess. He was known for his decisiveness and courage, which qualified him to be a Tobirama Senju’s elite guard member.
Yet now…
When facing a mortal enemy, Danzo still didn’t believe Uchiha Jin would dare to attack him.
This overconfidence made Danzo think he could still manipulate the situation, even as he orchestrated his subordinates’ actions right before the Sharingan’s gaze.
So what if he tried?
The result was clear—Jin would kill those probing claws and rub his 42-foot size all over Danzo’s face!
Looking down at the man who believed Jin wouldn’t really “hurt” him, Danzo was preparing for a desperate counterattack with the “Curse Mark of Death.”
*Squelch!*
With a swift cut of a kunai, the flesh parted, and one of Danzo’s already failing kidneys was rendered useless. His scream of agony echoed through the air.
“Damn you! You evil Uchiha…”
*Hmph!*
Jin snorted in contempt. Using the distraction caused by Danzo’s agony, Jin’s powerful gaze finally severed Danzo’s chakra control.
“Who do you think you’re underestimating?”
“A mere Curse Mark of Death, with such a long preparation time—did you think I was blind?”
“If you had used the ‘Reaper Death Seal,’ it might have been worth something. But the great Danzo, always preaching about self-sacrifice, can’t do it himself when it matters!”
Danzo’s wrinkled face twisted in pain as if he were a demon writhing in the depths of hell. He couldn’t tell if the physical pain or Jin’s words hurt more.
“Damn it, Hiruzen won’t let you get away with this!”
Seeing Uchiha Jin’s unyielding “hawk” mentality—one that didn’t mind igniting a war to achieve his goals—Danzo realized he was facing someone even more determined and resolute than himself.
After two consecutive blunders, first losing the ability to fight head-on and then completely incapacitated, Danzo had to rely on his old friend Hiruzen Sarutobi to hold Jin off long enough for reinforcements to arrive.
Also… there was another potential savior present!
“Shisui… urgh#?…#?%?#&*…”
Clinging to this last hope, Danzo called out desperately. But Jin’s size-42 foot pushed his face back into the dirt before he could finish.
“Jin…”
Shisui approached Jin, looking pleadingly at him. But when he saw Jin about to stab the other kidney with his kunai…
“The Police Force has apprehended the suspect. Let the village handle the rest!”
Shisui quickly abandoned the idea of pleading for Danzo, realizing how to deal with Jin at this moment properly.
“That’s more like it!”
As Jin pressed Danzo’s face into the dirt, he finally looked at Shisui with some approval.
“Shisui, you need to understand that the duties of the Police Force are the Uchiha’s core principles!”
“Uh…”
Looking at Jin, who now stood righteously like Danzo when he first appeared, even the usually stoic Shisui couldn’t help but twitch.
“Besides!”
“Have you forgotten why the village suppresses and harasses the Uchiha? Have you forgotten why the Uchiha are in this situation?”
“Faced with those who sow discord between us and the village, when we get a chance like this, we need to crush them!”
Jin’s words stirred a slight resonance in Shisui. He had recently pinpointed the roots of the conflict between the Uchiha and the village.
However, Shisui still needed more means to resolve the underlying issues when dealing with this Hokage advisor, a highly trusted civilian ninja of the Third Hokage.
To be honest.
Seeing Danzo in such a miserable state gave Shisui a slight sense of satisfaction but for the sake of the village and the Uchiha…
“Jin… uh, I mean, Danzo is still a friend of the Third Hokage. If possible, let’s leave him to the Hokage to deal with.”
Shisui stammered slightly, overseeing Jin’s face, fearing Jin might ragefully kill Danzo.
“That depends on whether our suspect cooperates with the Police Force investigation…”
Jin stopped pressing his foot, looking at Danzo with a mocking smile.
*Hmph!*
Danzo, now realizing that Jin didn’t mind killing him, ultimately gave up resistance and buried his dusty face in the dirt.
“Phew…”
Only then did Shisui finally relax, looking at the twenty bodies on the ground and the dozens of subdued Root members…
Maybe… possibly… there’s still hope…
Uchiha Jin, sensing Shisui’s despairing gaze, ignored him.
Today’s encounter with Danzo settled some debts. The groundwork laid with Shisui was sufficient, and the dead Root ninjas might still bring surprises.
So.
The time had come!
It was time to meet the ever-righteous Hiruzen Sarutobi!
