Naruto: The Fall of the Uchiha - Chapter 74
A sharp, cold laugh from Uchiha Jin pierced the silence at the Konoha Memorial Stone. The sound was especially jarring in the stillness.
As the laugh echoed, the ethereal connection to Kotoamatsukami shattered, transforming into a stream of blood-red energy that flowed back into Jin’s body.
“Uchiha Madara, huh? Let’s just call you that for now!”
Jin’s aggressive demeanor had vanished, replaced by a calm, cross-legged posture.
“Who exactly are you?”
Obito, eyes filled with tears and exhaustion, slowly rose, but the moment he stood, his expression turned to one of gravity and murderous intent. He had nearly lost himself completely.
A Mangeky? that manipulates souls and memories!
Having clawed his way out of endless sorrow and anguish, Obito could no longer afford to underestimate Jin. Were it not for the intense pain shattering his reality…
“You claim to be Uchiha Madara, so you can call me Uchiha Tajima.”
“Uchiha Tajima?”
The name seemed vaguely familiar to Obito, but he couldn’t recall any specific details. Feigning understanding, he nodded and continued to press.
“No matter your intentions, I, Uchiha Madara, will never be permanently subjugated!”
But unlike before, Obito’s exposed Mangeky? was filled with caution, and his demeanor had drastically changed. The experiences within the illusion world had left a profound mark, but his unwavering belief in his goal remained.
Even if…
No!
It was all just an illusion, not real!
Only Rin in the Infinite Tsukuyomi would be truly happy, and in that world, he could be his true self. Anyone obstructing his path would be mercilessly eradicated.
Oh!
I touched a nerve, did I?
Jin wasn’t surprised by Obito’s reaction, having anticipated it.
Obito was no longer the sunny boy dreaming of becoming a kage. Having fallen into darkness, his sole, untouchable goal was to create a peaceful world with Rin.
No matter how real an illusion might seem, he would always dismiss it as false upon returning to reality.
All his suffering would ultimately seem illusory for a life-weary failure like Obito. What were a few illusions compared to that?
However.
Anything threatening the Infinite Tsukuyomi plan would be obliterated by Obito at all costs, as it was his last hope.
Even if Jin were to resurrect Rin through the Edo Tensei, Obito, in his current state, might still tearfully destroy her.
Because Obito had lost all hope in this world, for a complete failure like him, restarting was the only way to create a perfect world for everyone.
A nice thought!
But Jin still despised Obito.
Good and evil aside, Jin detested people like Obito the most.
Obito had chosen darkness but still struggled to prove he was right like a spoiled child denied candy.
If you want revenge, go for revenge!
If you want to save the world, then save it!
But Obito claimed he wanted to create a truly peaceful world, to save a world steeped in sorrow.
Yet he turned around and wreaked vengeance in the name of anger just to make others feel his pain.
A hypocrite who couldn’t let go, claiming to save the world while selfishly seeking revenge. The world needing such a savior was truly beyond hope!
For Jin, better to die!
Don’t talk about how hateful people must have their pitiable reasons!
Sure, Obito had been manipulated by many behind the scenes, but ultimately, the decisions were his. Being fooled only showed his lack of intelligence.
And the Infinite Tsukuyomi, despite its inhumane approach, was a feasible way to achieve peace if not for Black Zetsu’s long-standing scheme.
As for its lack of humanity?
So what!
Saving the world was never for those irrelevant to you. It’s for yourself and those you care about!
A savior doesn’t need to care about others’ opinions, just march toward a world without conflict and full of peace.
But Obito’s duality was despicable, craving peace through the Ten-Tails’ power while seeking petty revenge against Konoha and his mentor.
Reclaiming the Nine-Tails should’ve been the last step, yet he impulsively revealed himself for vengeance.
If Konoha weren’t so divided and Minato hadn’t faced a plot-driven demise, the Nine-Tails’ attack would’ve severely weakened Konoha but also potentially exposed Obito and the Moon’s Eye Plan.
Then what?
How to capture the Tailed Beasts? How do you awaken the Ten-Tails and launch Infinite Tsukuyomi? How do we create a peaceful world?
Obito was unworthy!
And most importantly, he dared to target Jin’s precious crops for growth…
How dare you!
If Kamui weren’t so troublesome and if Jin weren’t feeling off, he might’ve considered ending Obito right there.
“Done playing? Then, get lost. Don’t let me see you in Konoha again!”
Jin’s eyes flashed with coldness, disdainfully smiling at the masked Obito.
“Playing?”
Obito, newly resolute, froze in disbelief at Jin’s words, unable to comprehend this outcome.
Despite the frustration, some of Obito felt relief, but he couldn’t resist further questioning the mysterious Jin.
“Are you really from the Warring States period…Tajima?”
“Sigh…”
Hearing ‘Tajima,’ Jin chuckled and shot Obito a sinister smile.
Not good!
Sensing danger, Obito quickly phased into the Kamui dimension, but his afterimage in reality was pierced by a blood-red blade.
“Useless! I am Uchiha Madara; such tricks won’t work on me!”
Obito stood firm, awaiting Jin’s futile cries.
Kamui’s power could make any ordinary shinobi despair!
“Join me! No matter your true identity…”
“This world is beyond hope. I, Uchiha Madara, will create a new era, a peaceful world without war!”
Feeling more confident, Obito forgot his earlier humiliation, resuming his role as Madara.
Whether Jin was an ancient remnant from the Warring States or not, Obito believed any Uchiha trapped in conflict and hatred would be moved.
“No one needs to be saved, and no one deserves forgiveness!”
Unfazed by his missed strike, Jin sneered, swinging his blood-red blade at Obito again.
Forgiveness is God’s business; my job is to send you to see God!
