- Chapter 76 - "Without a Hokage, Where Are the Anbu From?"
“Tsk…”
Uchiha Jin’s gaze lingered on the spot where Obito had disappeared, a hint of regret flashing in his eyes.
That right-eye Kamui was simply too overpowered. Its ability to phase through attacks was just the surface; the truly terrifying aspect was the independent alternate dimension it naturally provided.
This allowed Obito to switch between the real world and the alternate dimension at will, effectively creating a supercharged version of the Flying Thunder God technique for teleportation.
This made the Kamui right eye nearly perfect for both offense and defense.
Zane couldn’t help but envy this independent, alternate dimension, which would alleviate his own struggles considerably.
In comparison, Kakashi’s left-eye Kamui was far less impressive. It was primarily used as a spatial attack, a waste of its true potential.
However, his opponent’s shortcomings were Zane’s advantages.
Driven by a deep love for his comrade, Obito, who only had one right eye, was much easier to handle than a complete Kamui wielder.
After today’s two confrontations, even though Zane didn’t achieve his goal of fully subduing Obito, he was confident that Obito, this troublemaker, would think twice before appearing in Konoha or in front of him again anytime soon.
This would make future actions more convenient…
With this thought, Zane’s mood lightened slightly, giving him time to address the group nagging at his ear.
The arrivals were not just regular patrolling Anbu but also a team led by Asuma Sarutobi.
Despite his rebellious nature and often conflict with his father, Asuma’s anger was unprecedented after witnessing Zane’s blatant disrespect towards Hiruzen Sarutobi.
Upon discovering that the disturbance at the Konoha memorial monument was caused by Zane, Asuma stepped forward, confronting the feared figure head-on, seeking to restore his family’s honor.
But Zane ignored them completely, treating them as insignificant ants. This blatant disregard infuriated Asuma, who was proud by nature.
“What happened here? How dare you, Uchiha, cause trouble in this sacred place in Konoha? Didn’t you hear me…”
Boom!
Without hesitation, Zane’s blood-red Susanoo hand materialized in the air, slamming Asuma to the ground effortlessly.
“Asuma!”
The surrounding Anbu and Jonin team members were stunned, and Kurenai Yuhi, as a teammate, instinctively moved to help.
However…
The blood-red hand dispersed after pinning Asuma, replaced by Zane’s size 42 foot stomping on Asuma’s face.
Pff…
With his face pressed into the dirt, Asuma, already disoriented by the immense force, let out another painful grunt.
This sight made the Anbu and Jonin team freeze in place, drawing their kunai but not daring to take another step forward.
Although they were comrades on a mission, Asuma’s identity as the Hokage’s son was undeniable.
“Don’t do anything rash!”
A silver-haired Anbu with a cat-faced mask lowered his kunai, raising his hands to show he meant no harm, then cautiously suggested.
“Let’s talk this out. Release Asuma first.”
“Oh?”
Zane impatiently scratched his ear until he noticed the distinctive silver hair and familiar chakra signature. He then took a closer look.
“So it’s you, Kakashi…”
“Uh…”
The Anbu, identified, hesitated, doubting the effectiveness of his disguise despite the special sealing techniques on his mask.
Since he was exposed, there was no point in hiding.
Kakashi decisively removed his mask, revealing his face with the covered left eye, and once again calmly suggested.
“Release Asuma first…”
“So it’s Asuma Sarutobi!”
Zane shifted his foot slightly, recognizing the somewhat aged face beneath. His tone became disdainful.
“No wonder there’s such a strong smell of smoke!”
Smack!
Releasing his foot, Zane didn’t hesitate to kick Asuma towards an Anbu member.
“Asuma!”
Kurenai quickly ran over, concerned for her teammate.
“So that’s why you’re so weak!”
Zane rubbed his foot on the ground in disgust, adding a sarcastic remark.
A guy who isn’t even Kage-level dared to get this close to his Susanoo’s instant activation range and even stared directly at his Mangekyou Sharingan.
It could only be Asuma, the idiot son of the village’s landlord, who had the confidence to believe no one would dare lay a hand on him in Konoha.
However…
Zane Uchiha loved to say “no” to those who thought they were untouchable.
Hopefully, this kick would teach Asuma a lesson. Recently, Zane had developed a habit of playing the role of a super CPU instructor, feeling a divine mission to enlighten the masses.
“Damn it!”
Asuma, supported by the Anbu, had his chakra unsealed by Kurenai and was about to unleash a torrent of curses.
“Mm!”
Zane merely glanced at him, his scarlet eyes igniting a fierce flame that made Asuma freeze.
“We just want to understand what happened here… what is going on!”
Kakashi gestured for the Anbu to hold Asuma back and then began to survey the wreckage and destruction around the memorial.
Obito!
Kakashi, who had initially remained somewhat calm, changed his tone upon noticing the grave marker with Obito’s name beneath Zane’s feet, his voice turning cold.
“We need to understand everything that happened here. The Anbu requires a full account of all events!”
“Nice resolve.”
Facing Kakashi’s sudden change in demeanor, Zane gave an approving nod, silently lamenting the loss of potential.
If only Kakashi were a Uchiha, his eyes alone indicated the potential to awaken the Mangekyou Sharingan, making him an invaluable asset.
What a pity…
Suppressing his disappointment, Zane’s mind replayed Kakashi’s naive words. His aura erupted once more, exerting immense pressure on everyone present.
“Without a Hokage, where are the Anbu from?”
