“But!” Itachi’s voice turned serious. “I was wrong! Itsuki-nii’s words reminded me, what status do I have to do these things? Itachi smiled slightly. “I know, Itsuki-nii, you think I’m talking nonsense, but I believe in myself. I believe I can do it, and I hope you can help me!”

He looked sceptical, even somewhat disdainful. He didn’t believe that the eyes Itsuki got himself would be better than those collected by the clan. Given their talent and strength, even if Itsuki were unreliable, the clan would find the best eyes for them.
Itsuki shook the container with the Sharingan before Shisui and said, “These are strong. Trust me.”
He looked a bit awkward. At this moment, he felt like a jerk. Waving Shisui’s eyes in front of Shisui himself… He wanted to say, “Have confidence in your own eyes!” Would he get beaten for saying that?
Shisui probably never imagined that Itsuki was preparing to transplant his eyes and taking Shisui’s eyes yesterday and transplanting them today! Shisui thought the more likely scenario was that the Sharingan in Itsuki’s hands were his own eyes. Digging out his own eyes was just a diversion.

The task wasn’t difficult. Since Shisui was already unconscious, obtaining the Mangekyou was easy. Digging out his own eyes was even more straightforward. The only challenge was keeping the Mangekyou safe.
Given Itsuki and Kurenai’s known relationship, no one expected him to stash two Mangekyou Sharingan in a scroll in Kurenai’s bedroom. Plus, with the chaos in Konoha at the time, who would notice a scroll in Kurenai’s house? Thus, he got a 1% increase in ocular power.
Itsuki didn’t mind the small reward for the easy task. When he was younger, completing high-difficulty missions was impossible, so he often set small goals like walking 10,000 meters for a Chakra boost, throwing a thousand kunai for a Taijutsu increase, or using the Great Fireball Jutsu three times for a Ninjutsu enhancement.
Each task was easy, with minor rewards. However, these minor gains accumulated over ten years to make Itsuki a top-tier ninja. Even now, Itsuki continued to uphold this habit, steadily increasing his strength.

Itsuki knew Danzo well enough to predict that he wouldn’t let this go and would send Root ninjas after him! Thus, he set this mission, and he was right. If he had been wrong, he would have found a root ninja to kill, which would have been no big deal.
