Naruto: This Uchiha is too Evil - Chapter 29
Years ago, he rebelled more than once, only to be repeatedly subdued and taught a lesson. Tobirama Senju’s purpose in keeping him alive was clear: “I don’t take you seriously at all. Keeping you around gives me an excuse to deal with the Uchiha in the future.” After Tobirama’s death, Hiruzen Sarutobi inherited his anti-Uchiha will. Unfortunately, Hiruzen’s ability to handle the Uchiha fell significantly short.
Now, Hiruzen was old and sought stability. He had tried several times to eliminate the dangerous Setsuna to prevent problems within the Uchiha. Sensing the danger, Setsuna had even reduced his outings over the years, giving Hiruzen no opportunity. Unsurprisingly, he would have been dead long ago if he weren’t smart. He was like a well-hidden venomous snake, ready to strike any moment. Hiruzen couldn’t just charge in to deal with him; he didn’t dare.
How could Itsuki be involved with Setsuna? Fugaku’s face darkened. He valued Uchiha Itsuki and wanted him to avoid becoming one of Setsuna’s pawns.
“Perhaps it’s just a coincidence,” the middle-aged Uchiha hesitated.
“Coincidence?” Fugaku sneered. “First, he wanted to give Itsuki the Sharingan. Then, he demanded compensation from the Hokage in Itsuki’s name. Now he’s appearing at Itsuki’s residence. Are these all coincidences? Do you want to tell me that Setsuna genuinely demanded compensation for Itsuki?”
The middle-aged Uchiha was speechless. Once or twice could be a coincidence, but three times indicated certainty. Was he claiming compensation for Itsuki? It would make more sense if it were Zongyi doing it. The fact that Setsuna was demanding compensation for Itsuki indicated a problem, at least suggesting that Setsuna had his eyes on Itsuki.
Fugaku frowned even more profoundly. Zongyi wasn’t any better. Even though Danzo had openly attacked Itsuki, Zongyi insisted on remaining passive. You’re a dove, not a turtle!
“I don’t understand,” the middle-aged Uchiha hesitated. “Clan leader, Itsuki and Setsuna don’t usually have any contact. I am very certain of that. So, why are they…?”
Fugaku was equally puzzled. Due to Setsuna’s dangerous nature, he had assigned many people to monitor him. How did Setsuna and Itsuki connect? Is there something within the clan that I must be aware of? Fugaku’s gaze became even more dangerous.
The middle-aged Uchiha couldn’t stand it anymore and quickly looked away. A saying passed through his mind: “Fugaku’s eyes are fierce and menacing. Stand in front of him, and you’ll feel like you’re under automatic ninja attack.” This saying was right. At least, he couldn’t stand it.
“What are you thinking about?” Fugaku’s voice rang out.
“Nothing!” The middle-aged Uchiha quickly replied. “I was just thinking about why Setsuna went to see Itsuki and what it means.”
Fugaku continued to stare coldly at him. He felt the man was thinking disrespectful thoughts about him, even related to him because he wanted to punch him. Unfortunately, there was no evidence.
“I’ll go check personally!” Fugaku said coldly as he stood up. “Are the arrangements in place?”
“The clan patrols have increased their numbers, and the Jonin have reduced their mission counts,” the middle-aged Uchiha hesitated. “But, are you sure we should alter the clan’s barrier? You know…”
Fugaku hesitated, too. As one of Konoha’s oldest and most powerful clans, the Uchiha had their own protective barrier. Changing this barrier would consume tremendous resources and money, even for the Uchiha. After all, it covered their entire clan territory.
“Forget the barrier!” Fugaku sighed. “To enter the Uchiha grounds unnoticed, someone from the core of the clan must lead them. I believe these people would never betray the clan.”
“Yes!”
Setsuna approached Itsuki’s home only to be stopped by Itachi and Shisui. Despite being young and one of them blind, the pressure they exerted on Setsuna was immense.
Setsuna frowned. “Where’s Itsuki?”
Itachi replied calmly, “Itsuki is busy with something important. Elder, please go back.”
“Something important?” Setsuna murmured, repeating the phrase. “Is he transplanting his eyes?”
Neither Itachi nor Shisui reacted to his question.
Setsuna frowned deeper. “Shisui, if Itsuki is really transplanting his eyes, go stop him now. I have a very powerful pair of Sharingan.”
“Elder, Itsuki is my brother!” Shisui’s response was simple.
The meaning was clear: Itsuki is my brother, who are you? You’re Uchiha Setsuna, the older man constantly beaten down by two generations of Hokage, always ranting about restoring Uchiha’s glory.
Setsuna’s face darkened. He suddenly recalled what Itsuki had said to him before. He had once tried to recruit Itsuki, a genius, subtly sowing discord between the brothers, to which Itsuki replied: “Shisui is my brother, who are you? Oh, you’re Uchiha Setsuna, I know you…”
At that moment, Setsuna wanted to leave. These two brothers were impossible to deal with! One insulted him openly, the other covertly.
“Elder Setsuna, what brings you here?” A stern voice interrupted.
Uchiha Zongyi approached, glaring at Setsuna.
Setsuna composed himself and said, “I’m here to see Itsuki, to see if he needs any help.”
“There’s no need!” Zongyi replied firmly. “As Kagami’s descendant, I will take care of him.”
Setsuna glanced at Zongyi, smirking. “I came to deliver compensation from Danzo and to tell Itsuki that Zongyi wanted him to let things go. Ha, you’re doing a great job, Zongyi. Aren’t you ashamed?”
Zongyi’s face darkened. “Because of the Mangekyou Sharingan, Konoha’s atmosphere is already tense. This is not the time for drastic actions.”
He turned to Shisui and Itachi. “What do you two think?”
Shisui nodded instinctively. He knew Konoha’s current state and naturally didn’t want an internal conflict.
Itachi was about to nod but remembered his recent conversation with Itsuki. He changed his words. “I agree, but…I don’t think Itsuki would.”
Zongyi’s face darkened, and Setsuna was also taken aback, staring at Itachi. What happened to this kid? Was he under some influence? Is this Uchiha Itachi speaking?
Both men scrutinized Itachi, their expressions bewildered. The atmosphere remained tense until Uchiha Fugaku arrived.
“Both elders are here,” Fugaku observed sternly. Seeing their puzzled faces, he asked, “What happened?”
“Fugaku!” Setsuna pointed at Itachi. “Are you sure this is your son?”
Fugaku’s face darkened. “If he’s not my son, is he yours?”
“Bah! My dear Mikoto, I’ve misspoken. It’s all this old fool’s fault.”
