Naruto: This Uchiha is too Evil - Chapter 31
Setsuna scolded, “I clearly told you I have… hm, only you can unleash its full potential.”
“No need. I feel this pair suits me best. Thanks, Elder Setsuna. I’ll treat you to a meal sometime.”
Itsuki shrugged and then turned to Fugaku and Zongyi. “Fugaku-sama, Elder Zongyi, what brings you here?”
Fugaku and Zongyi exchanged glances. Zongyi spoke slowly, “Itsuki, I understand you’re upset about what happened with Danzo and Root, but I hope you’ll prioritize the bigger picture.”
Itsuki tilted his head, staring at him without responding.
“Itsuki!” Zongyi thought his silence indicated dissatisfaction and continued more sternly, “You are one of the brightest new-generation Uchiha. The future of the Uchiha depends on you all. Don’t act rashly.”
Itsuki remained silent, looking at Zongyi for a while, then shifted his gaze to Setsuna’s mocking expression and Fugaku’s serious face. Suddenly, he smiled brightly, a smile that felt as warm as sunlight, melting away the tension.
“Elder Zongyi, may I ask you a question?”
“Go ahead,” Zongyi felt a strong sense of foreboding. Itsuki was about to stir up trouble.
“Ever since Uchiha Madara left, you’ve been enduring, haven’t you?”
Most Uchiha revered Madara, but some disliked him, especially during the village’s founding. Many believed he sought to destroy the hard-won peace, bringing war upon the clan. Yet, no one could deny Madara’s immense strength. When he was around, even Hashirama Senju dared not pressure the Uchiha too much, let alone Tobirama.
During Madara’s time, the Uchiha both hated and benefited from him. It was pretty hypocritical.
Itsuki smirked, “So, what exactly have you achieved by enduring?”
What do you mean, what have I achieved? Zongyi’s veins bulged. This kid had no sense of decorum. He retorted, “I endured for the greater good, for the Uchiha. Do you think the Uchiha can stand against all of Konoha? The entire village is against us.”
Was he standing against all of Konoha? We could now, Itsuki thought, because I have the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan! He felt as though he could dance through Konoha with ease.
If we wanted to, we could shape Konoha however we liked. We don’t need to endure; we just play the game. If I wanted to, I could take on the entire village. The Uchiha now have the power to dictate terms.
Itsuki felt his back straighten with pride. The fate of the ninja world was in the hands of Uchiha Itsuki!
He smiled and said, “Of course not, but did enduring help at all? Did Konoha accept the Uchiha because of your endurance? Has the Uchiha advanced since Madara’s departure?”
He cut off Zongyi before he could respond, “Don’t give me other arguments or grand principles. Just show me the facts. Give me a concrete number: how much has the Uchiha integrated into the village since Madara left? Or has there been any progress at all?”
Zongyi fell silent. Fugaku’s expression also changed subtly. Itsuki’s words, though blunt, hit the mark. They had never compared the situation to Madara’s time, or perhaps they didn’t want to.
Decades of effort with no progress—how could they accept that? Madara was a recognized renegade, yet they had achieved less than him.
“Ha! Decades, and not only no progress, probably quite a regression, right? The Uchiha’s survival is tougher than during the village’s founding.”
Itsuki laughed gleefully, “Elder Zongyi, how long are you planning to endure? Until the Uchiha are exterminated?”
“Impossible!” Zongyi snapped, “The Uchiha will not fall. Absolutely not!”
This time, Fugaku and Setsuna stood with him. They were proud of their clan, believing that isolation meant they stood out. The Uchiha were the strongest and the top ninja clan worldwide. No one could deny that.
“Why not?” Itsuki’s smile grew wider, “Today, if I didn’t have some skill, I’d be dead. Who’s next? Shisui, then Itachi!”
“If Danzo publicly attacks me, you endure. If it’s Shisui, you’ll endure too. What about Itachi? Oh, he might not be attacked because the Hokage wants to mold him into a tool against the Uchiha.”
“One by one, until you realize, oh, you’re the one who’s dead.”
Fugaku and the others frowned deeply. “Itsuki, stop speaking nonsense.”
“No, I think Itsuki’s words make a lot of sense,” Itachi suddenly interjected.
“Itachi!” Fugaku’s voice was stern, tinged with disappointment. As a son, how could he not support his father?
“I’m just speaking the truth, Father!” Itachi lowered his head, saying softly, “I’ve thought a lot recently, made many assumptions. What if something really happened to Itsuki or Shisui? What would I do?”
Itachi decided to become the head of the Uchiha clan. He needed to think like a leader. The old Itachi was gone.
“You…”
Fugaku was furious. Did he come here to hear this? His son was driving him crazy. Was this filial piety?
Right, he came here because of Setsuna. He didn’t trust Setsuna and was worried after Danzo attacked Itsuki. He had a reason to go and comfort Itsuki.
Once he figured it out, Fugaku gathered his thoughts and spoke slowly, “Itsuki, I understand you’re upset…”
“Why would I be upset?”
Itsuki looked at Fugaku curiously as if he were an idiot.
“I was attacked but unharmed. Instead, I took out over a dozen Root ninjas.”
“I even beat Danzo, gave him two solid punches to the face.”
“I’m feeling pretty great.”
“So, Fugaku-sama, where’s this anger you speak of?”
Itsuki rubbed his hands together, excited. “I wish Danzo would attack me every day.”
For a moment, Fugaku and the others were speechless. Itsuki didn’t know that this incident led to Danzo paying a hefty compensation…
So, although Danzo attacked Itsuki, Itsuki gained from every angle. He had no reason to be angry.
Finally, Itsuki concluded, “I, Uchiha Itsuki, warmly welcome Danzo. No matter what you say, that’s my stance.”
“And you are not allowed to stop Danzo. Understood?”
