Shisui’s expression changed slightly, a bit tense. “What’s wrong with you?” he asked, feeling something was off. Itachi’s change seemed familiar, making him suspect something. His words carried an unmistakable excitement. If Itachi had… it would be fantastic.

Itachi looked at his hands, murmuring, “I think… Shisui, can you check my eyes? Do they look different?”

Shisui: “…”

“Sorry, Shisui,” Itachi said, clearing his throat. “I forgot.”

“He said that if I become Hokage, it will improve relations between the village and the Uchiha. I agree with that. Do you think he’s wrong?”

Shisui smiled wryly. Of course, that’s right. The Uchiha had been desperate to produce a Hokage. As Itsuki said, they would be okay with making significant sacrifices if the Uchiha could produce a Hokage.

But was that possible? Even Shisui didn’t think so.

At this moment, a rumour started spreading in the village. The Uchiha clan supposedly had five thousand ninjas! When Itsuki heard this, his jaw nearly dropped.

The Uchiha were a great clan, claiming to be the strongest in the ninja world. But five thousand ninjas? If they had that many, they would have openly demanded the position of Hokage. Sarutobi Hiruzen would likely kneel and hand over the Hokage hat with both hands. Danzo wouldn’t dare cause trouble. He’d blind himself just to avoid seeing the Uchiha.
