Naruto: This Uchiha is too Evil - Chapter 68
“Alright, stop this nonsense!” Hiruzen Sarutobi’s voice cut through the argument, silencing them.
He turned to Itsuki and said sternly, “I won’t hold it against you for sending a clone, but…”
“I’m not going to Kumogakure,” Itsuki shook his head, still smiling. “But, as a member of Konoha, I want to contribute. How about I go to Sunagakure?”
“Sunagakure…” Hiruzen’s face remained grim. It wasn’t just because Sunagakure was the weakest of the five great ninja villages but also beiccause Itsuki was openly defying his orders. He was the Hokage! Even though Danzo often disobeyed him and did things behind his back, he never dared to defy him openly.
But now…
“Uchiha Itsuki!” Koharu Utatane’s voice was filled with dissatisfaction. “Are you even a Konoha ninja? How dare you defy the Hokage’s orders? Has the Uchiha clan fallen to this level? Hmph, just as I thought…”
Her words were full of discontent, and when she mentioned the Uchiha, her tone was laced with disdain.
Itsuki’s eyes flickered before he suddenly smiled. “The advisor has a point. How can I disobey the Hokage’s orders? Fine, I’ll go to Kumogakure. However, since there might be forceful encounters, Hokage-sama, you need to assign a few more people to assist me.”
“That’s not a problem!” Hiruzen immediately responded. “I will assign an entire Anbu squad to assist you with this mission.”
“Yes!” Itsuki responded with a smile, clapped his hands, and then his clone dispersed.
The Hokage’s office fell into silence.
Homura Mitokado spoke slowly, “He was initially unwilling, so why did he agree later?”
“Yeah!” Akimichi Torifu scoffed. “Even a fool could see you had bad intentions. Why did he agree? This is interesting.”
“Torifu!” Hiruzen said with displeasure, “What nonsense are you talking about? What do you mean we had bad intentions?”
Torifu wasn’t buying it. He was here representing the Ino-Shika-Cho alliance. The leak of the military deployment maps was unsuitable for a Jonin meeting, but they needed to mobilize many people.
That’s why the ninjas tasked with these missions were individually summoned to the Hokage’s office. Uchiha Itsuki wasn’t the first. Just as the Third Hokage said, Kirigakure had already been assigned to Kakashi, who was now on his way.
“Nonsense?” Torifu scoffed again. “Are you worried that Uchiha Itsuki might explode and you wouldn’t be able to end the fight quickly? Too bad, he only sent a clone and let you down.”
Torifu was a disciple of the Second Hokage, Tobirama Senju. He was a peer to Hiruzen, though two years younger. He was also known for his great strength, and his battle against Kumogakure was legendary in the ninja world.
As a member of the Akimichi clan, skilled in Taijutsu and secret techniques, his power had not waned much despite his age.
Danzo retorted coldly, “Do you think we care so much about Uchiha Itsuki?”
Torifu glanced at him and sneered, “Go sunbathe, or rather, play with your eggs.”
“You…” Danzo was so angry he nearly spat blood. Not again with the eggs! Can they stop bringing up eggs? Now, anytime someone mentioned eggs, people thought of him. It was as if he’d become known as Egg-Danzo. Disgusting!
“Torifu!!!” Danzo’s eyes were bloodshot.
“Hmph!” Torifu snorted and stood up, “Don’t provoke me. I may be retired, but I’m not dead. If anyone wants to test my strength, go ahead!”
With that, Torifu walked out of the office, threateningly looking at everyone before leaving.
“Ugh!” Danzo stomped his cane in frustration. “That Torifu…”
“Enough, you know his temper. It hasn’t changed in all these years,” Hiruzen said wearily. “Koharu, investigate the leak of the deployment maps.”
“Understood.”
“Homura, handle the frontline troop adjustments.”
“I’ll have it done in two days at most.”
Finally, Hiruzen just glanced at Danzo. No words were needed; they understood each other. Everything was clear without speaking.
Koharu and Homura exchanged a silent look, speechless. They couldn’t compete.
Torifu returned home where the current heads of the Ino-Shika-Cho alliance were waiting.
“You’re back,” Shikaku Nara stepped forward respectfully. The man before them was the Ino-Shika-Cho’s most excellent expert and the backbone of their clans.
The Ino-Shika-Cho held a significant position in Konoha, but without power, they were nothing.
“Hmph!” Torifu snorted heavily, sitting down with a thud. “Damn Danzo!”
Such familiar words. Was it an illusion? Lately, he had been hearing people say that often.
Shikaku cautiously asked, “Did Danzo provoke you?”
“Not just Danzo, the Third Hokage as well. Hypocrite! How could Biwako fall for someone like him? If I had…” He trailed off.
“Huh?” The three heads were stunned. They discovered something remarkable.
“Ahem!” Torifu coughed, irritated. “What are you thinking? I’m just lamenting…”
“Oh, right!” They immediately sat up straight.
Shikaku spoke seriously, “It looks like the Hokage plans to target the Uchiha.”
Torifu sneered, “The only clans that threaten them are Uchiha and Hyuga. Hyuga has already been broken, and Uchiha is known for being unstable. Is it surprising they’d target them?”
Choza Akimichi hesitated, “The Hyuga aren’t that weak, right?”
Torifu rolled his eyes, “Do you think Hyuga Hizashi’s death was that simple? Fire of Will, my foot!”
His words were filled with sarcasm. Hiruzen Sarutobi’s Will of Fire was about ensuring the dominance of the Sarutobi, Shimura, Utatane, and Mitokado clans. Even Utatane and Mitokado could be sacrificed in necessary situations, but never the Sarutobi.
“Warn the Uchiha.”
“What?” Shikaku was stunned. Warn the Uchiha? Did he mean to ally with them?
Torifu sighed, “You don’t understand Hiruzen like I do. We’ve known each other for years. I can tell you clearly, after the Uchiha, he might target the Ino-Shika-Cho.”
“He wouldn’t attack us directly, but he would break us apart!”
“This…”
“We need the Uchiha to shield us.”
Torifu’s tone was cold. “Go tell the Uchiha that the deployment map incident will be used as a point to strike against them.”
Shikaku was silent momentarily before suddenly saying, “Actually, there’s no need to be pessimistic.”
“Oh?”
“Uchiha Itsuki!” Shikaku’s expression was strange. “I believe this person, who never suffers a loss, will certainly surprise us.”
