Chapter 58: Chiba’s Money-Making Ability
This information took Danzo by surprise.
“Chiba alone messed up the positions of Sand Shinobi and Konoha?” Danzo asked, seeking confirmation.
“Okay, tell me what you think,” Sarutobi Hiruzen said, knocking on the table and getting straight to the point.
This time, Danzo did not dare to speak at first but waited for Homura to share his thoughts.
“This information made me realize that we all underestimated Chiba’s strength,” Homura said, shaking his head and smiling wryly.
Hiruzen shared the same sentiment. They had thought flooding the Sand Shinobi rest station with a cesspit was already astonishing enough, but now Chiba had crossed the front lines from a high altitude and caused havoc on both sides.
“Not only that! He also created a rain of dung, drenching the positions of both sides with foul-smelling excrement,” Homura added.
“It seems that they cleaned up all night; otherwise, the news should have reached us yesterday…” Hiruzen sighed, his expression showing a mix of emotions.
“That being said, we can definitely deploy Chiba to the front,” Danzo suggested.
“I agree,” Koharu chimed in.
“Homura, what about you?” Hiruzen turned to Homura, waiting for his response.
“I agree,” Homura said, this time having no objections.
A ninja who could rain dung from above would deal a significant morale blow to the Sand Shinobi that they couldn’t tolerate.
Although Chiba’s dung rain might not be lethal, it was certainly repulsive enough. Just the thought of experiencing a daily downpour of dung would likely drive the Sand Shinobi crazy.
As the discussion continued, there was a knock on the meeting room door.
Thump! Thump! Thump!
The sound of footsteps echoed through the room, and the four of them—Sarutobi Hiruzen, Shimura Danzo, Mitokado Homura, and Utatane Koharu—all went silent, feeling a sense of déjà vu.
As Chiba entered the meeting room, he noticed the peculiar scene before him.
The Third Hokage was grinning to himself, Danzo was nodding in agreement, Homura was beckoning to him, and even Koharu was giving him a flirtatious look.
“Didn’t you take your medicine?” Chiba blurted out suspiciously, sensing something was off.
“Ahem, Chiba, why are you here?” Hiruzen coughed twice, hastily changing the subject. Their previous behavior had indeed been quite out of character.
“I’m here to lease the back mountain,” Chiba replied.
“Lease the back mountain?” The others looked puzzled.
The back mountain was covered in trees and weeds, and one side of the mountain featured the Hokage Rock, depicting the faces of past Hokage. Other than that, it served no purpose.
“What do you need the back mountain for?” Hiruzen asked, perplexed.
“I’m going to build a farm and raise livestock,” Chiba declared, his tone serious and his gaze determined.
Build a farm? Raise livestock? The others’ minds were buzzing with confusion. They couldn’t understand how someone with such a disgusting ability would want to engage in farming.
Inside the meeting room, everyone exchanged bewildered glances.
Shouldn’t someone with such a repugnant power be deployed to the front lines? And now he wanted to build a farm?
But before they could voice their concerns, Chiba decided it was time to showcase his remarkable financial ability.
With determined strides, he walked over to the table.
Then, he reached into his trouser pocket, causing everyone to tense up.
“What are you up to?” Danzo asked, alarmed by Chiba’s movements.
“Huh? Didn’t you realize that Chiba’s ability doesn’t emit any odor?” Homura suddenly spoke up, reminding the others.
Upon this revelation, the rest of them snapped out of their initial shock.
“It’s true, it doesn’t have any smell!”
“What’s going on?”
“It doesn’t smell like dung at all!”
Hiruzen, Koharu, and even Danzo, who had initially prepared to flee, walked back cautiously, their eyes fixed on Chiba’s actions.
Chiba continued digging into his pocket until he finally retrieved a long, large gold bar.
Duang!
He tossed the gold bar onto the table and reached into his pocket again.
“This gold bar is so long!”
“It’s enormous!”
“Where did he get these gold bars?”
“And he still has more in his pocket!”
Sarutobi Hiruzen and the others were left dumbfounded, their eyes wide with astonishment.
They couldn’t comprehend how Chiba had acquired these gold bars.
Duang!
Another gold bar landed on the table.
Chiba reached into his pocket once again…
